Please be kind to your veterinarian and their staff. Everyone is doing the best they can with circumstances beyond their control. All over the country, vet clinics are booked out for many weeks to months. Some clinics have waitlists of 1,000+ patients needing to be seen. One. Thousand. Not even on the schedule yet. Every day is overbooked, short staffed, everyone is running on fumes and for some reason, the public has become 10x more cruel than ever before.
You might think of them as “your vet” or “the tech” and while that may be true, they are so much more than that. They are PEOPLE. People who have limits to what they can handle, just like you and I. If you think it’s hard to get care for your pet now, just think how hard it will be if these talented, hard working, highly trained, animal loving people reach their limit and leave the field. Or worse, the world. Since well before the pandemic, veterinary medicine has had one of the highest su***de rates of any profession.
Now, more than ever, we need you to be kind. We’re begging you.
Be. Kind.
VETERINARIANS, VETERINARY STAFF AND PET OWNERS....
To everyone in the Vet field: I'm sure you understand the picture below. Veterinarians please hang in there! We are here for you! Vet staff please hang in there! You are not alone!
COVID-19 has affected the veterinary world tremendously. We are unsure if it is due to more people bringing pets into there homes, pets having more access to injury, staff shortage, clinic closures or all of the above... but we are tired!
Pet Owners: Please be patient with us...emergency clinics are at full capacity, small general practice clinics have had to become emergency clinics. We are double booking appointments, skipping our lunch breaks, coming in early, working late, and catching up on weekends. We are doing everything in our power to help you and your pets the best that we can. PLEASE be patient with us. If it is not emergency know that you may have to wait for an answer, a call back or an open appointment time. PLEASE remember that your Vet is a human not a wizard! PLEASE remember the picture below to remind you of just how hard Vets are working to help you!
