Blu's Ranch Goats Blu's Ranch is a small ranch in Utah that has upscale, high quality Nigerian Dwarf dairy goats. Blu' We will always have our goats around!
(1)

Nigerian Dwarf dairy goats are excellent milking goats that produce creamy milk that is especially good in making cheese, butter, ice cream, soap and lotion. They make great family pets, are very personable and are perfect for homestead farms. Our herd started as a 4-H project that has turned into a love for the breed and will be life long family members.

Top performance always involves hard work. Showing goats is no difference. Prepping the goat, grooming, walking calmly and multiple other factors are all skills that take a lot of patience and time. Obviously the structure of the goat is essential but the hard work shows them at their best. This year I didn’t put in the time or work required for preparation and because of that had lopsided udders and other things going on when I took them to Vernal this weekend. I knew going in that I had failed my goats.

Despite my lack of preparation, Peep wasn’t having it. Her strong confidence and “I’ll show you” attitude helped her win the Champion Challenge, Best of Breed and Best Udder categories in ring one. Thanks to Hannah (her breeder) for showing her. Luckily, Peeps daughter also showed well in large competitive classes. I was at the end of the line with the rest of my does (again, totally my fault).

But if there would have been a category for cute and social butterfly, Xtra Spicy Chkn would have nailed it.

Congratulations to all those beautiful does, and their handlers, at the top, middle and sometimes end of the line. It was a competitive show and the goats were lovely.

Thank you to Rebecca and crew at the Uintah County Fair Dairy Goat Show for all the hard work you put in to create such a fun, well run show.

ISO - I had someone reach out to me last fall for a buck from this breeding but I can’t find your info. Please PM me if you are still interested.

I have had a few people message me and ask about what I am doing with the goats. I am slowly retiring from the goats and have decided that rehoming my young goats would be the best thing to do. These are goats that I planned on using, with the exception of the little bucks - although I wouldn’t hesitate to use them they are great quality and I am basically giving them away the cost is so low.

About the goats: In the 11 years that I have had goats, they have won over 50+ Grand, Reserve, Best of Breed and Best Udder ribbons. That may not sound like a lot but considering that I usually only attend 1 or 2 shows a year and only bring 4-8 goats (including bucks) to shows (different goats each year), they have almost always come home with ribbons. Their competitors show well nationally, so I am very happy with my little group. I have studied bloodlines on specific goats and tried to acquire the best lines for confirmation, milk production and longevity of life. They have many ties to National Champions and SG genetics. While they may not be on the Elite list (my real job requires me to work 60-70 hours a week) because I can’t put 305 days in for milking (blame the milk maid not the goat), they have received Advanced Registry Milk Stars in lbs milked, butter fat and protien. There are some that are great milkers, some that are great in the show ring and some do well in both the ring and in production. I can hold on to them for a little while if you are not ready to take them home right away.

I’m not heavily on social media advertising them, so my farm is not as well known as others in Utah (TBH last year I sold more goats out of state than in state) however, I do try to be a conscientious breeder. I will be posting different groups that are looking for new homes throughout the month. At this time all my young does have been held. I will post if any become available. Please message me with any questions.

BUCKS
I am going to highlight the bucks that I have available from 2023 breedings. I will be rehoming them at incredible rates (same price that I sell wethers) to find homes for them.

Buck 1 is a Cou Clair buckling and is chocolate/white/grey coloring. His sister won a reserve champion title when she was 3 months old. Here are the details on his dam and sire:
Dam – Noall’s Ark GL Primrose
https://genetics.adga.org/GoatDetail.aspx?RegNumber=D002177905
DD – Blu’s Ranch BRB ROSA
DS - Amethyst Acres Z GIULIANNI

Sire – Blu’s Ranch Rolo
https://genetics.adga.org/GoatDetail.aspx?RegNumber=D002061256
SD – Blu’s Ranch D Almond Joy
SS – Sandstone Ridge Axl

He has lineage to J-Nels Spatzle 2014 Reserve National Champion on both Sire and Dam side along with Sugar Moon RG Gianna. Primrose is a great milker and in 200 days of milking produced 680lbs, 45lbs butter fat and 28lbs of protein, well above the requirements to receive her advanced registry milk star as a first freshener. She is a very steady milker and was milking similar lbs from beginning to end. I had to dry her up because I had surgery during the holidays. Their sire, Rolo, has received 3 reserve champion awards. Rolo’s dam won a reserve champion udder behind a top 10 doe.

Buck 2 is a chamoisee buckling with white spots. He is a little petite but ready to do his job. He stands at the fence flirting with all the does in heat. Here are the details on his dam and sire:

Dam – Blu’s Ranch MAR Allegra
https://genetics.adga.org/GoatDetail.aspx?RegNumber=D002257268
DD – Mountain Side Farms TT Minuet
DS – Maple Arc River Wilde

Sire – Noall’s Ark Turn Back Time
https://genetics.adga.org/GoatDetail.aspx?RegNumber=D002193627
SD – Noall’s Ark DA Selles Sur Cher
SS – Amethyst Acres Z Giulianni

His dam peaked this summer milking 5.2lbs as a yearling first freshener. Her udder is super soft and can be easily hand milked. She is a little petite, but her dam was also petite and is filling out quite nicely as a 2.5 year old. His sire, Turn Back Time is sibling to Noall’s Arc Chateau (listed on the Elite list). So, if you are looking for a little buck with high milk genetics, this little boy could do the job.

Buck 3 - I also have a 2 ½ year old buck from incredible lines. He is 24” from ground to withers (around ½” over height) but produces beautiful kids. He is very determined and all about doing his job. Coda’s dam, Meera is an absolutely beautiful goat with a lovely and very correct udder. I have only had him for 1 year but the little bucks he sired are flashy and lovely. I am trying to use him this year before he goes to another home.

The only reason why I am rehoming him is because he is a little over height. I have 2 older bucks that are also over height so since he is young, I am going to find a new home for him, but I’m bummed about it. FYI - I have used over height bucks for many years and have never had a doe go over height.

TUA Farms DF Coda
https://genetics.adga.org/GoatDetail.aspx?RegNumber=D002161269
Dam – TUA Farms SH Smoke and Mirrors
DD – Poppy Patch PD Chantilly Lace
DS – Almar Acres HS Smokin Hot

Sire – Sans Gene Doctor Fauci
SD – Sans Gene DE Delta Blues
SS – Castle Rock Elika

I am working on current photos for the little bucks and will trade them out ASAP. Please PM/contact me with any questions you may have. I will share wethers next.

Thanks to everyone who have been supportive and interested in my little herd. I think all the does that I am rehoming right now have found homes. Thank you so much!! I do have a few does that will have kids in May/June/July that may have been bred while I was recuperating. Accidents happen. I just found out today.

Went to a fast ADGA 2 ring show in Vernal a couple weeks ago. And this happened. Designer Peep won her first Grand Champion title in the first ring and Rrserve Champion in the 2nd. And then, little Daisy, at 3 months old won a Reserve Champion title in ring 2. Not a bad day at all. I was so excited I forgot to set them up for pictures. And now, cute Daisy is in Texas with Amanda along with H**e (a little doeling from another farm) who won Reseve in ring 1. She gets to take home two little reserve champs.

UPDATE: I only have the little brown with white spots doeling left.

I have a few incredible kids that are available. 3 little does that have stacked top performing milk lines. Their pedigree includes Hidden Hills Time Traveller, SD is Hetland Creek Time after Time, (top milk producer) on their dams line and TUA Farms Bubba Luva, Old Mountain Farm Stag Party and Oak Apple Greta Go Girl (top milk producer) on their sires line.

Their dam, Minuet, milked 3.9 lbs this year as a yearling first freshener and has already earned her Advanced Registry Milk Star with top production in milk pounds, butterfat and protein. Their t***s are great size for either machine or hand milking. They would be a great addition for any homestead or someone looking for great milk producers.

Msg me for additional pix or information. Here is a link to their dams genetics.

I attended the UDGA cache valley goat show yesterday and didn’t do too bad. I took 5 goats (3 bucks and 2 does in milk) and all but 1 received a Grand or Reseve Grand title.

Sandstone Ridge Designer Peep won Reserve in a competitive milking group class in ring 2.

Blu’s Ranch Pongo took Grand in all 3 rings

Blu’s Ranch Rolo took Reserve in 2 rings

Blu’s Ranch Blaze took Reserve in 1 ring.

In full disclosure, there were only 5 bucks (3 of them mine) because 2 groups that were signed up had to cancel at the last minute. I figured Pongo won because he was the oldest and most mature. As I was signing paperwork, I talked to the judge about the bucks and he said it was too bad it wasn’t a sanctioned show because all 5 of the bucks in the rings were great quality and could have competed well in any of the shows he’s seen. So I felt a little better about the wins.

Meet Sandstone Ridge Designer Peep, our first mama due March 29. She has an incredible pedigree of both milk and show wins. She won Reserve Champion as a dry yearling and consistently has been first in her class as a jr kid and dry yearling. She is a first freshener so I will post udder pics as soon as she freshens. Two doelings have been reserved.

Her Dam, Holly Design has many show wins including AGS Reserve National Champion.

She was bred to Blu’s Ranch Bowie, a beautiful blue eyed buck that has pedigrees lines to JNels Spatzle and Rosasharn Haiku. Here are their pedigree lines.

Just got home from the Utah State Fair. Blu’s Ranch Mabel did great this year. She took 1st place in all three rings and Reserve Grand in the Open show.

Blu’s Ranch Scarlett took 2nd place in all three rings.

Sandstone Ridge Canis took 4th in 2 rings and 6th in 1 ring in an extremely competitive 2 year old milker class.

And Noalls Arc Primrose took 3rd and 4th in a large Jr kid class where the Grand Champion was chosen in all 3 rings.

There was a smaller group of goats there this year but there were goats who consistently compete and win at the Nationals level. Very impressive goats were shown at the fair.

So glad to hang with my goat family friends. Will miss them until next spring when this all begins again.

The bucks had a great showing this past weekend in Logan at the UDGA Cache Valley Show. They came to win.

Blu's Ranch Blaze won Grand Champion in 2 of the 3 rings, Blu's Ranch Rolo won Reserve Grand Champion in 2 of the 3 rings. Our cute little Blu's Ranch de la Cruz (we forgot to get his picture) won 2nd place in 2 of his rings at 3 weeks old. Blu's Ranch Bowie, unfortunately was disqualified for being over height.
