We are happy and dancing, full of joy for our young cat man Luke!
Today was ADOPTION DAY!💕🐾
And man, did this boy fall with the bum in the butter!😻 He was adopted by the most beautiful, young couple! Both are very experienced cat lovers and Luke will be the top cat for now. He is already settling in so nicely and enjoying a nice house where he will be allowed outdoor visits in a nice, large and secure garden!
We are so happy for you, Luke! We have no doubt that you will do so well on your 3 legs, and now your future is bright and shiny!🐾💕🐾💕🐾

Update: We are very happy that Luke went to his forever home today!

Our little Lovebug Luke is still looking for a loving home! His sutures were removed and he is absolutely thriving! He is now very curious about the world outside the nursery and we desperately wish for a lovely home for him. Great with other dogs, will be good with cats. (Of course, the introduction needs to be done with some patience and love).
Luke is fully vaccinated, dewormed, and neutered. He is FIV and FeLV negative.
HPaC will waive the adoption fee but strict home checks apply. Of course, a donation towards his treatment is always welcome!
Are you Luke's next hero? Please contact Tina on 082 790 4666 for more info.

URGENT💕🐾LOVING HOME NEEDED!
Karjo is a 2.5-year beautiful calico tabby girl and is urgently looking for a new home. Please refrain from nasty comments as her parents are heartbroken but in a dire situation.
Karjo's vaccinations are up to date and she is spayed. She is great with dogs and other cats and would make a great family kitty.
No adoption fee but home checks apply.
You can contact Tina 082 790 4666 or Ernst 072 395 4554 if you are able to offer her a loving home!

🐾💕🐾We are officially looking for the perfect home for Lucky Luke!💕🐾💕
He has wonderfully adapted to a life on 3 legs.
Since his amputation, he has become very playful 😀
He is a very smart kitty boy, purring nonstop, and loves cuddles and attention! Always up for a chat but very modest when left by himself for a while.
He seems to be great with dogs and other cats but of course introduction needs to take place slowly.
Luke has come through a lot! We are very certain that he was dumped. His injury almost cost him his life as he was not able to hunt and was starving.
But he still loves caring humans.
He is a silky, strawberry ginger tabby with beautiful orange markings. We estimate him to be around 1.5 years old. He loves good ear and head scratches, food, and toys.
He needs to be mainly an indoor cat so a family in a house with a safe garden for occasional, supervised visits would be ideal for him!
Lucky Luke is neutered, dewormed, fully vaccinated for this year, and is treated for fleas. We are also very glad that he tested negative for FIV and FeLV!!
Paws&Claws will waive the adoption fee for him, although a donation towards his treatment would be greatly appreciated! Strict home checks apply.
For more info please contact Luke’s foster mum Tina on WhatsApp 082 790 4666.

💕🐾Update on Luke and appeal for funds💕🐾
We are very happy that Luke's surgery went very well!
It was a stressful day as Luke clearly neither likes driving for long periods in a car nor being confined in a carrier. And on the way back he also had to wear the cone of shame which is not meeting his approval at all. Clearly understood!
But he has settled in nicely again! He was on his 3 legs shortly after surgery and now after two days he is even playing and using the cat furniture, something he didn't do at all in the first 2.5 weeks since intake!! So clearly, the paralyzed hindleg was hindering his movement a lot! Today, he was the first day out in the catio again. He is eating well and uses the litter box with no problems.
We are also very happy that he tested negative for both, FIV and FeLV and he is now a charming NEUTERED cat boy as well!
We would like to thank Mtubatuba Veterinary Clinic and Dr Luke Michaelides for their great support and help!
We appeal to your heart to please help us with funding for the medical expenses for Luke. Even a few Rand will help us a lot!
Luke will have some healing time now in Tina's nursery but we will start networking soon to find the perfect home. He seems great with dogs and cats and will be a lovely family cat!
Please spread the word: Luke has now a bright future lying ahead of him after he was almost starving due to the injury which would have been a death sentence for him! We are glad that he will be able to live a great life.
Donations can be made into Hluhluwe Paws and Claws account. Ref: Lucky Luke.
If you wish to get more info or updates on Luke please Whatsapp Tina on 082 790 4666.

🐾❤️UPDATE ON LUKE & APPEAL for DONATIONS❤️🐾

Lovely Luke has recovered quite well in Tina’s nursery! He put on some weight which is crucial for the next step: Surgery!
This boy was on the brink of starvation and initially not even able to eat for a couple of days. With intensive care, he overcame this. Unfortunately, his hindleg paresis is still present. It seems that it's caused by an injury to his tail base and he has no feeling and function of the lower leg. Even with some physio and cortisone treatment, the leg hasn’t shown any improvement. The vet is recommending amputation of the useless limb as it can be a risk for injury and restrict Luke’s movement in the future.
Luckily, cats adapt and recover extremely well from limb amputation. We have no doubt that he will be able to live a full and happy life!
We have an appointment booked for next Tuesday and he will be neutered at the same time. We will also test him for FIV and FeLV.
His treatment with medication, surgery, and vet visits are becoming more expensive now and we appeal to your heart to support us with some donations for Luke.💕🐾
No matter how small, every Rand counts!
His vet account will be over R 4,500 which is a lot for a small organization like ours. This is on top of food, litter, meds, and petrol costs.
He has such a wonderful nature! As a very smart boy, he realizes how close he was to death! He is very chatty and thankful and super loving!
We will give him time to recover and heal and Tina will care for his wellbeing!
Please help us to help Luke! 💕🐾💕He deserves a second chance in life with love and cuddles! He clearly was dumped as he is not only used to people but also likes dogs.
We hope to find Luke the perfect home in the near future where he will be loved as a safe indoor kitty with monitored garden visits if possible.
Please see our banking details for donations towards Luke's treatment, Ref: Lucky Luke.
We will be back with regular updates!

We wish our supporters, adopters, and followers a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!✨🎄✨💕🐾✨🎄✨

Update on Luke:
Besides being very photogenic, Luke has made a remarkable recovery in the last 12 hours as he stopped eating for 2 full days and need to be fed with the syringe!
We think that he was without food for a very long time! Which resulted in VERY runny diarrhea, nausea and pain. Short round of Flagyl to be safe, clopamon and Hills AD brought him back on track and he had a great toilet this morning, eating well and is much perkier!
He will be back with the vet today to check on his mobility. The foot and paw is stiff and has no feeling. So when jumping or climbing the foot stays behind and could be a risk for further injuries.
His toenails are missing and show healed abrasions. He also got a swelling on the base of his tail. We reckon these injuries occurred at the same time.
He also clearly is still processing the mental trauma of his experience.
He is still thin as a rail and needs to build up more strength before any potential surgery.
At least he is eating now, purring and this morning he was even playing a bit!🧡🐾😻

News from Paws&Claws!
We had another few busy weeks!
At the beginning of December, we were trapping Ferals in Hluhluwe, and 18 cats were sterilized and released back. We are continuously trying to have as many ferals in Hluhluwe "fixed" to stabilize the feral colony. These are working cats and many business owners are feeling the benefits of these rodent "cleaners".
Unfortunately, with despicable humans around that keep dumping cats and kittens, it will always be an ongoing project till people are required by law to have their pets spayed and neutered.
It is not always easy to fund the Trap-neuter-release campaigns. We wish we would receive more help from local companies with small donations or food/litter donations.
However, we try to keep on track and do the best we can. And there are many more young kittens around at the moment which need to be sterilized in the new year!

We also had another few happy kitten adoptions from Tina's nursery as well.
Yesterday Tina was also contacted by a resident of Hluhluwe about a "half-dead" cat in their yard. Needless to say, Tina dropped everything and went to assess the situation.

We have overlayed the video with music as we like to spare you the appalling comments made by the resident. At least he made contact and asked for help for this young, malnourished, and weak cat boy. It seemed that he had injured his hind leg.
Tina rushed him to the emergency vet in Mtubatuba. Lucky Luke, how we named him after one of the brilliant vets at the clinic, has clearly been knocked by a vehicle in some way. The leg is not fractured or dislocated but he has little to no feeling and control over the leg and almost no muscles.
Most of the time, nerve damage is not reversible. This boy deserves the best chance and in such instances, amputation of the useless appendix is the best option. 3 legged cats can live full and happy lives and have hardly any limitations! And they have super special personalities~!
The good news is that he does seem healthy otherwise.
The operation will be rather costly and we will appeal to the public and our followers to help us with donations, no matter how small, every Rand counts! We cannot do this without you!
We will have updates on Luke and once a treatment plan is finalized we will post banking details of the Mtuba private Vet so donations can be made directly to the vet for Luke or into the Hluhluwe Paws&Claws account.
Please help us to help this little boy!
For now, Luke is settling in Tina's nursery. We need to get his weight up a bit and he needs to be stronger for the surgery.
Luke is eating well and sleeping off the physical and mental trauma he experienced.
He is very soft-natured and we are very certain that he was dumped either before or after the accident.

UPDATE: YAY, Madita has found a wonderful home and will join her new family in a few days.

💕😻Madita is taking the term "Fluffy" to another level! She is almost like a Turkish Angora. This little panther still has a tiny bit of fever coat but will be black from tip to toe. She has the sweetest nature with soft purrs and loves kitten company. She is dewormed and will be vaccinated this week. Please whatsapp Tina 082 790 4666 for more info.

💕🐾💕Our latest intake: Madita is a pure black kitty girl, about 6 weeks old. She has a slight fever coat (silver tips in the fur).
She was uplifted today by the learners of a Mtubatuba primary school and will join Dudley in the nursery.
Although we would like to keep quarantine in place, we will skip it this time for the benefit of giving Dudley and Madita the needed company. Kittens this age learn a lot from each other and surely Dudley will fall in love pretty instantly.
Both will be ready for adoption soon💕🐾💕

UPDATE: We are happy to announce that Dudley's adoption is approved and he will make his little journey to Amzanzimtoti soon. We are very excited for him🐾💕

🌻🐾Adoption Alert🐾🌻
Little Dudley was uplifted by a resident in Hluhluwe last week and brought to Tina. We are unsure if he was dumped or what happened to his mum or siblings.
He is about six weeks old and a beautiful dark-marbled Tabby with white socks and a white chest. He has settled in very nicely, has a very chatty personality, and craves attention.
Dudley will be ready for adoption very soon! He is dewormed and will have his first vaccination before rehoming.
Please contact Tina on Whatsapp 082 790 4666 for more info or if you looking for your own stunning cat buddy!
Adoption rules apply.
