Meet Hershey—a sweet, deserving 5-year-old Pit bull who has known more suffering than any dog should. Found in a heartbreaking state, Hershey was discovered with a wire leash cruelly tied around her neck. She’s been through so much, and yet, despite it all, she still craves love and affection. But Hershey needs your help to heal, and time is of the essence.

At just 26 pounds, Hershey is severely emaciated and her body is frail. Her malnutrition has taken a toll on her health, but there’s more. Hershey is blind, likely due to untreated cataracts, and she needs immediate care to relieve her suffering. She’s also in desperate need of dental work and a spay procedure, all of which require careful medical attention once she is well enough to undergo treatment.

Hershey is not just a victim of neglect—she is a survivor, and with the right care, she can become the happy, healthy dog she was meant to be. NYC Animal Care Centers (NYCACC) is currently at critical capacity and urgently needs help moving dogs out of the shelter. Intake for owner surrenders has been suspended, and there’s a waiting list of dogs needing space. We were able to take in one dog last week, but hoping to help more with your support.

Say hello to your new best friend! Pumpkin is a 3-year old, 10-pound cat who is outgoing, sweet, and absolutely beautiful.

Pumpkin is fully litter-box trained and keeps her coat clean and shiny. She gets along well with humans of all ages, she is fostered in a home with several other cats and a dog. She eats well, although her interest in treats is minimal. She has a few favorite toys, but she doesn’t go crazy over them. Pumpkin’s main focus is spending time with her people and cashing in on as much affection as possible. Awwww!

Not a cat who hides under the couch or shies away from humans, Pumpkin thrives on being the center of attention and getting as many pets and scratches as she can. She has the ideal blend of high and low energy, at times prancing around the house and at other times, lounging like a couch potato.

Pumpkin is a calm, engaging, interactive young kitty who would love to land in a home where she will be adored and cared in the manner she deserves. In return, you’ll have a fur angel who will adore you just the same.

If you are in the market for a sweet, handsome exercise buddy, then Kinston would like to apply for the job! This 2-year old, 42-pound Cattle Dog/Labrador Retriever mix is full of fun, full of energy, and full of love!

Kinston enjoys long walks, robust runs, challenging hikes, and large enclosed spaces for romping and roaming. This happy-go-lucky fella loves to play with other dogs - - even grouchy ones - - and he’d play with cats too, if they seemed at all interested. Kinston adores all forms of human life, from small kids to the elderly, and he’s friendly toward everyone.

Smart and obedient, Kinston responds to the commands sit and wait, and can be redirected whenever he, for example, starts to shred a plush toy or puts a slipper in his mouth. Kinston patiently sits and waits for his food at mealtime, he takes treats with a gentle mouth, and he quietly obliges while being leashed up for a walk. Kinston is 100% housebroken, he’s crate trained, he’s well-mannered on a leash, and he’s thrilled whenever outdoors. What a fine young gentleman he is!

Kinston loves being pet, and his fur is sensational to stroke. He’s snuggly and cuddly, but not in an over-the-top sort of way. He enjoys sleeping beside you or flopping down with you on the couch. Kinston is respectful of your space and very good at picking up cues. Even though Kinston possesses a few funny, puppyish tendencies, he’s an amazing dog who strives to do right! Don’t let this dude pass you by. Kinston is a dream come true for any active person or family looking to welcome a fabulous furry addition into their household.

Mitsu: a 4 month old tabby, he’s very sweet and small

Binx: was rescued by a good Samaritan after being found on the side of the road, likely hit by a car. he has been living at a vets office while he recovered.

SpongeBob- 5.5m old tabby, she is playful and great with his siblings but can use a little bit more one on one attention.

This handsome fella might not wear a cape, but once you get to know him, he’s bound to become your favorite super hero! Introducing Batman, an exuberant and energetic one-and-a-half year old, 50-pound Pit Bull mix who adores adults, kids, and other dogs…and is even tolerant of cats!

Batman is very playful and never met a toy he didn’t like. Same thing with other pups…he makes friends easily and loves to romp around and wrestle with ‘em all. Batman benefits from a decent amount of exercise and interaction, so long walks, robust runs, a large enclosed yard, a canine playmate, and/or trips to the dog park all help Batman get his ya-ya’s out. Once he’s good and tired, this sweet guy is ready for snuggles and snoozes. He also might hop up on the couch and lean into you while you watch TV. Batman totally loves being with his people. Awwww!

Batman responds to the command sit, and when you say the word okay, he knows to wait for his food bowl to be placed on the floor. Batman is crate trained and has been working on his housebreaking skills. For now, he wears a belly band inside the home, but he’s getting a lot better about doing his business outside while on walks. And he loves the praise he receives when he gets it right! Oh, and certain treats get his attention, as well.

If anyone deserves a second chance at life and love, it’s Batman. As this brave beautiful boy continues to decompress and settle down, you can see his fears and anxieties slowly melt away. Batman has been making tremendous progress and is becoming the dog he was always meant to be: Loving, loyal, kind, and courageous. With a strong leader and some time and patience, Batman would love to be your sidekick. You up for the task, Robin? ;-)

Wow, what an interesting face! Say hello to Lovie, a 4.5 month, 4 lb, exotic-looking Calico kitten who is as sweet as she is stunning!

Lovie is litter-box trained, super clean, and pretty quiet. She goes bonkers over treats and has a fairly healthy appetite for such a tiny ‘lil peanut. A bit shy and timid at first, Lovie needs some encouragement with unfamiliar humans, but once she deems you a trusted friend, she’s yours for life. She likes being pet, preferably on her level rather than being approached, and she’s very cuddly with other cats.

Lovie is just starting to discover the joy of toys and the art of playing. The more comfortable she gets, the more relaxed she is becoming. It’s a beautiful thing to watch her blossom and grow.

While definitely more on the mellow side, Lovie continues to make progress and showcase her more kitten-like characteristics. With time, patience, and kindness, Lovie will pawsitively become the lovie of your lifey. Whadduya waiting for? This angel is ready to find her forever home!

Come meet Mona today at Petco Union Square from 12:30-3:30

Got a thing for those frosty-faced, sweet seniors? Then take a closer look at Mona, a young-at-heart 10-year old, 19-pound Boston Terrier who is always up for anything and would make an ideal canine companion.

Housebroken, crate trained, happy outdoors, and great in a car, Mona is the definition of easy! Friendly and enthusiastic, Mona is eager to meet new people and make new friends. She loves going for walks and she seems to adore every single human she meets along the way! Marvelous Mona would likely do best as an only dog or with another dog of similar size and temperament.

When it comes to affection, Mona gets straight A’s. She’s a big fan of belly rubs, she loves being pet, and she will gently remind you with a tap-tap-tap of her paw to please not stop caressing her once you start. She’s just the cutest thing everrr!

Mona might be 10, but she is extremely spry, lively, and playful for a gal her age. She likes to play fetch and tug-of-war with her squeaky toys and chew on bones for amusement. This engaging ‘lil monkey is generally a quiet girl, but her personality is big and her heart is huge. Her entire face lights up every time she sees you, her butt wiggles with delight morning, noon, and night, and she’s always ready for either cuddle time or a play session whenever you’re available.

This cheerful sweetheart has sooooo much to offer. She’s adorable, she’s mature, she’s smart, and she’s a lover. And just think…she can be all yours!!!

Say hello to your new lap dog! Meet Cherry, a 6-year old, 17-pound Dachshund mix who is a lazy, well-behaved, affectionate meatball!

Cherry is a quick learner and has been making great progress with both his leash manners and housebreaking skills. He is good at using his p*e pads and he has no issue being crated. In fact, Cherry sometimes enjoys hanging out in his crate when he’s just relaxing at home.

Cherry has a few toys he likes, but probably his favorite thing to do is cuddle. He’d cuddle all day long, if he could. He is thrilled anytime he can sit in someone’s lap or be held in any way. He often falls asleep soon after being in someone’s arms. This delicious dude is a total love bug and a professional snuggler! And he’s sooo soft!

If traveling around with your pooch is your thing, Cherry is your guy. He’s comfortable on a subway, in a car, or being toted around in a bag! And everyone will smile at him because he’s that sweet adorable face that you can’t help but love!

Cherry is a sweet, chill pup who would do best in a calm, quiet household, especially as he adjusts to his new surroundings.

Cherry is ready to share the simple pleasures of life with you. A perfect companion dog, there’s no doubt he’ll be the Cherry on your ice cream sundae!

Striking-looking, spirited, and sweet, Fairy Godmother likes to play, be pet, and receive belly rubs. She loves to scamper around with other kitties, fiddle with her toys, engage with humans, and explore every inch of her environment. She’s a people-oriented cat who is extremely sociable and friendly…although she may need a few minutes to warm up to a total stranger. But just a few. Once she knows you, she will be your friend and seek your attention, either through a game or through chin scratches! Awww!

Fairy Godmother is fully litter-box trained and keeps a neat appearance. She eats well, she enjoys treats, and she sleeps soundly. Say hello to Checkers, an 8-year old, 11-pound pussycat with gorgeous green eyes, an absolutely perfect nose, and slightly crooked ears which give him even MORE charm and character!

A big beautiful boy, Checkers struts his stuff and exudes total confidence. He is energetic, playful, and extremely nimble. He likes anything that rolls, jingles or dangles. Litter-box trained, Checkers gets straight A’s for accurate aim and good personal hygiene. He’s also got a rock-solid appetite and loves treats.

A people-oriented feline, Checkers is friendly, curious, and outgoing. He likes being pet, scratched, and cuddled with…until he’s had enough. Unafraid to express himself, Checkers will let you know when he either needs his space and/or wants some quiet time. Like delicious caramel popcorn, Checkers is a combination of sweet & salty…and utterly irresistible!!! Go grab this exotic gem while you can!

Meet Havanna, a 7-8 month old, adorable Shepherd mix! She is a sweet, goofy girl, who is good-natured and just wants to follow her foster mom at all times. She is housetrained and doesn’t chew on things! She has not had a single accident inside since she came to her foster home, and loves to play with her toys, leaving shoes, cords, furniture, etc alone. And the best part, she sleeps through the night without having to go to the bathroom, which is almost unheard of in a puppy! She is fine in a crate or pen with another dog, but she hates to be left alone in it by herself. She would do better in a home with another dog to keep her company or where someone is home a lot. Because she is so well behaved, she can also be left in a room without being crated when you’re not home.

Havanna is shy at first but once she warms up to you, she turns into a cuddle monster and the sweetest girl ever. She didn’t know how to walk on a leash when she first came into her foster family, but now she is getting the hang of it (especially when her foster fur brother walks with her). You will not regret adopting this super snuggly easy to take care of dog who will be loyal to you forever!
