With so many of our amazing fosters traveling this December, we’re in big need of temporary fosters to help keep our pups and kitties safe, cozy, and loved this holiday season.

If you’re staying local and have a little extra room in your home (and heart ❤️), fostering for even a few days can make a HUGE difference. We’re especially looking for:

✨ Short-term/holiday temp fosters
✨ Foster takeovers for a handful of animals already in NYC
✨ Cat + dog lovers willing to help out anytime in December

Meet Coffee Buzz, a 3-year old, 14-pound Chihuahua/Dachshund mix who is half espresso shot and half melted butter stick! This funny fella can go from Curious George to mellow meatball in the blink of an eye!

Between his adorable stumpy legs, a sleek black coat with splashes of white on his chest, and expressive eyes that could sweet-talk anyone into extra belly rubs, Coffee Buzz excels in the looks department. Ya just gotta smile whenever you glance at him.

Coffee Buzz came from a hoarding situation, so he’s experienced only limited socialization, but you’d never know it from his spirit. Around the house, he is equal part comedian and couch companion: one minute he’s your tiny shadow, the next he’s snoring on the sofa…and then suddenly ZOOM, he’s doing turbo laps like a NASCAR driver. You can see him starting to discover the world around him, and coming out of his shell in real time.

Coffee Buzz is still learning to trust, especially with the big scary outdoors, but he’s getting braver every day. Inside, he’s thriving - - discovering new toys which is his new obsession, enjoying treats from trusted hands, and perfecting his snuggle techniques, for which he’s already a pro. Coffee Buzz has been hard at work brushing up on his manners - - already responding to basic commands such as stay, come, and sit - - and learning how to walk on a leash, especially if he’s able to follow the lead of another dog.

Coffee Buzz gets along with people and pooches, he’s great in a car and in a pouch carrier, and is puppy-pad trained while he continues his housebreaking journey. With patience, love, and a gentle approach, Coffee Buzz will continue to flourish and become the dog he was always meant to be: AMAZING.

No one can argue about how ridiculously handsome Max is! This 18-month old, 53-pound hunk of sweetness is a Pit Bull Terrier mix who is extremely loving and thrives while in the company of others.

Affectionate and goofy, Max thinks nothing of plopping himself across your chest or resting himself on some part of your body whenever he sees an opening. And he’ll never refuse an ear scratch. A cuddle-bug extraordinaire, Max is a true romantic and when he gazes at you with those expressive eyes of his, your heart will melt like a warm stick of butter.

Still in his puppy phase, Max has tons of energy and can play and run around with the best of ‘em! Toys are a big hit with this youngster, and he will chew and try to shred anything he can sink his little teeth into. He likes spending time outdoors and is hard at work on his leash manners. Full of joy and enthusiasm, Max seems to want to befriend everyone he meets, including other dogs.

A good eater and an avid snacker, Max has an excellent appetite and is eager to please his humans, particularly if a tasty treat is involved. He already responds to the commands sit, down, paw, speak, and leave it. And he’s capable of so much more!

Max has some separation anxiety, but he has been making tremendous progress the more he acclimates to his new surroundings. While he doesn’t exactly love his crate, he uses it, and he seems to understand its purpose. This smart boy is fully housebroken, he travels without drama, and he shares his toys, his possessions, and his space with anyone and everyone.

Max is already a great dog, and he’s only going to get better once he is able to settle into a home of his own with patient, devoted, loyal humans who will love him as much as he will love them in return.

Meet Ernie, a 5- month old, 4.5 pound domestic shorthair kitten who is the purrrrfect combination of playtime, snuggle time and snack time.

This adorable little dynamo is equal parts goofball and lovebug. Cuddly and upbeat, this fella is everyone’s best friend - - dogs, cats, humans, you name it. If it breathes…and even if it doesn’t…Ernine wants to hang out with it.

Ernie’s got two speeds: race car and remote control battery-low. One minute, he’s chasing jingle balls down the hallway, swatting feathers like a champ, and zooming around like his tail is on a mission, and the next, he’s curled up in your lap, purring himself into a cozy nap.

This sweetie-pie loves treats, being pet, and getting scooped up like a baby. He’s totally litter-box trained, has excellent car manners, and thinks new people…and even new dogs…are friends waiting to happen. When you walk into the house, Ernie will come running, like you’ve been gone for years…he’s THAT happy to see you!

Basically, Ernie is the total package: Cute, funny, outgoing, affectionate, and always down for a meal or a massage. Adopt this fabulous feline and every day will feel like coming home to your favorite furry fan club president.

TEDDY IS IN NEED OF A FOSTER OR ADOPTER

Meet Teddy Bear, a 10-month-old (60-ish lb and still growing) German Shepherd/Doodle mix with the personality to match his adorable name! Teddy was adopted from us as a young puppy and is now being returned through no fault of his own. He’s a wonderful dog who simply needs a new family ready to give him the love and structure he thrives on.

Teddy is friendly, loving, and social with just about everyone—dogs, kids, adults, men, women, and even the elderly. He’s a happy, well-rounded pup who fits right into any household that’s ready for snuggles, playtime, and lots of affection.

Teddy is a big cuddle bug who absolutely melts for pets. If you’re touching him, he’s in heaven—he loves belly rubs, head scratches, and will happily curl up next to you. He’s equally enthusiastic about toys and can keep himself entertained for hours with his favorites.

This sweet boy has excellent training from a board-and-train program. He walks beautifully on leash with his prong/e-collar, knows a long list of commands (Sit, Down, Leave It, Wait/Stay, Go to Place, Go to Crate, Go Potty, Calm Down, Safety, Drop It), and picks up new skills quickly. He’s crate trained, house trained, cooperative with handling, travels well, and has no resource guarding.

Energy-wise, Teddy is the perfect blend of playful and relaxed. He loves the outdoors, enjoys playing with other dogs, and has a goofy side that keeps you smiling. But after a good walk or play session, he’s more than happy to lounge around and soak up your company.

Teddy Bear is goofy, affectionate, loyal, and eager to please—a dream dog in every way and ready to shower his next family with love.

Look at those funny mismatched ears! They belong to Duke, a 1.5 year old, 21-pound Shetland Sheepdog/Terrier mix who is as lovable and adorable as they come.

Duke’s days are a wonderful blend of snuggles, snacks, toys, and adventure. He loves everyone he meets - dogs, cats, humans of any size - and he will greet them all with gentle enthusiasm. Duke isn’t the type of dog who causes a scene; he’s the kind who quietly sneaks into your lap, sighs happily, and makes you feel like you’re the most important person in the world.

Duke loves to horse around - - including with other dogs - - and he tackles toys like he’s auditioning for America’s Next Top Squeaker. Going outside is exciting for him - and sometimes a little spooky - but Duke is brave, and each day he ventures out with more confidence than the day before. He enjoys going for walks, even though he’s still learning that the leash isn’t a tug-of-war rope. He tries really hard, and he shows improvement every single day.

At home, Duke is continuing to settle down nicely and figure things out. At times, he can be somewhat mischievous, and at other times, he can be an absolute dream come true. He’s pretty much housebroken, he knows that his crate is where he gets cozy sleep, and he shares his possessions like he’s running a doggy lending library. He’s busy learning all the important things like sit, down, no, and stay, and you can see the little gears turning in his head as he concentrates on how to make his humans proud. He’s smart, curious, eager to please, and extremely motivated by treats, a universally powerful force!

Duke is the kind of dog who charms everyone he meets without even trying…even when he’s doing something he shouldn’t be doing. He’s lovable, joyful, silly, and ready to offer his new forever family a lifetime supply of comedy, companionship, and cuddles!

Four stunning Dalmatians are waiting for their chance at a new beginning—and we’re hoping to help them make it to NYC by 12/6. 🐾

These sweet 3–4-year-old pups were rescued from a hoarding case by our TN partner shelter. They’re all good with other dogs and eligible for foster-to-adopt. They’ve already missed two transports, and we don’t want them to wait any longer.

Meet Yankee, a 1-year old, 38-pound Redbone Coonhound mix who has a heart of gold and a zest for life!

This handsome, copper-colored boy is friendly with absolutely everyone - - kids, adults, the elderly, and other dogs. He the kind of dude who walks into a room and makes instant friends with his wagging tail and warm eyes.

Yankee loves being outside and is happiest when he’s part of the action. Whether it’s jogging alongside you, exploring the neighborhood, or joining in a game of softball at the park, he’s always up for adventure. He’s playful and athletic, but also easy-going and well-mannered - - the perfect mix of fun and affection.

When the day winds down, Yankee turns into a total cuddle-bug. He’ll happily curl up at your feet or snuggle next to you on the couch, and he’s super generous with kisses. He thrives on companionship and appreciates being included in family life, but he’s not demanding - - just grateful to be near his people.

Yankee would do well in just about any active, loving home, with or without other dogs, with or without kids. He can be a teeny bit clingy, but as his confidence grows, he will surely learn to become more independent. Between his sweet personality and his irresistible charm, Yankee is the kind of dog who will quickly steal your heart and fill your days with joy!

Meet Marshmallow!

Marshmallow is a 2-year-old, 16 lb Chiweenie who came to us from a large hoarding case of over 30 dogs — and he’s making an incredible comeback! Despite his rough start, this sweet boy has blossomed into a loving, snuggly companion who’s ready to find his forever home.

True to his name, Marshmallow is as soft and sweet as can be. He LOVES cuddles and would happily spend all day curled up in your lap if he could. Once he trusts you, he’s affectionate, loyal, and eager to please. He’s also recently discovered the joy of toys — especially his favorite stuffed animals — and is starting to show his playful, goofy side.

Marshmallow enjoys walks and has plenty of energy when he’s out exploring, but inside he’s all about that cozy couch life. He walks nicely on a leash (though he can be a little jumpy with loud noises) and travels quietly on public transit — he’s a great little adventure buddy!

He’s done wonderfully with other dogs and cats, preferring calm, friendly company over rough play. While he can be unsure around men at first, with patience and positive reinforcement he’s learning that they can be friends too.

Marshmallow is still working on house training but he’s made amazing progress in foster care. With consistency, time, and love, this brave little survivor will continue to thrive.

He’s looking for a calm, loving home — someone who can help him continue to build confidence, celebrate his milestones, and enjoy all the snuggles he’s so eager to give.

Home for the Holidays 🌲

Every year, so many wonderful cats and dogs come through our rescue… but some of them wait a little longer than others. These sweet long-timers — all with us 6+ months — are so loved and spoiled in their foster homes, but we know their true forever family is out there.

Please don’t overlook the pets who’ve waited the longest.

There is nothing wrong with them.
In fact, they’re some of the most loyal, grateful, loving companions you could ever bring home.

❤️ Tiramisu – An adorable shepherd mix who’s been nothing but patient, hoping someone finally chooses her.
❤️ Everywhere – Came to us as a puppy… how she’s still waiting, we’ll never understand.
❤️ That’s Hot – Another puppy-turned-long-timer who keeps getting passed by.
❤️ Declan – Our gentle, goofy brindle boy who just wants a human of his own after nearly a year in rescue.
❤️ Zorro – A little quirky, very unique, and deserving of someone who appreciates his big personality.
❤️ Lemon Drop – Sweet and shy, loves the company of other cats and ready for her forever after.
❤️ Tamar – Rescued with her kittens, who were adopted quickly… and now it’s her turn.
❤️ Lesly – Saved with her baby, who found a home — now she’s patiently waiting for hers.
❤️ Spot – Black-and-white perfection, loves to sleep on you, great with other cats.
❤️ Sunny & Sail – Mother and son, in rescue since May, dreaming of homes for the holidays.
❤️ Felixa & Fig Newton – Another mother/son duo; he’s the last of his litter, born in rescue

❤️ Checkers – His adorable crinkled ear makes him one-of-a-kind, yet he’s been overlooked for months.

Felixa and Fig Newton as well as Sunny and Sail can be adopted separately. Many of these animals have their adoption fees reduced to hopefully help them find their forever homes

If you’ve been searching for a gentle love-bug who is just the right age and just the right size, then feast your eyes on Zard, a 4-year old, 22-pound Jack Russell Terrier mix. Recently rescued from a hoarding situation, Zard is a sweet, curious, cuddly boy who is ready to welcome love and start living the good life.

Housebroken and well-mannered on a leash, Zard enjoys the outdoors, especially in quieter-type environments, where he can explore and sniff the world at his own pace. His nose seems to work overtime, and whenever he spots another dog, he picks up his pace to greet them with a gleeful wagging tail!

Zard gets along well with everyone, but a slow approach works best with this sensitive fella, preferring that folks get down to his level when first greeting him. Zard can’t be won over with treats, but toys are his language of love, and he’s into them ALl! He likes to thrash them around, toss them up in the air, pounce on them, sleep with them, and walk around with them in his mouth.

Affectionate to the max, Zard loves being pet, he’ll never refuse a belly rub, and his favorite resting spot is wherever you are. Despite having multiple dog beds, Zare will happily hop into your bed and borough under the blankets with you…if you let him. And how can you say no to THAT cute face?

Zare is still discovering what it’s like to be a real dog, and he’s loving every second of it. With each passing day, his personality continues to blossom and shine, and it’s beautiful thing to watch. Zare is easy to fall in love with and would make a great companion…and hey, how ‘bout those mismatched ears of his? C’mon, this dude is simply irresistible!!!
