Meet Fire!

Fire is a 3-month-old Heeler mix puppy who is equal parts cuddle bug and curious explorer. This little girl is all heart-loyal, snuggly, and already a total shadow dog. She loves to be close to her person and will happily nap in your lap for hours, especially if you’re working from home and need the world’s cutest coworker.

While she was only in foster for a short while, Fire left a lasting impression with her affectionate nature, gentle curiosity, and silly puppy antics. She loves all toys-dog, cat, or otherwise-and has the perfect balance of playful energy bursts followed by sweet, sleepy cuddles.

She’s smart as a whip and already knows “sit,” “stay,” “come,” and “lie down.” She’s also puppy pad trained, crate trained, and very respectful of boundaries-especially with cats (she wants to be friends but will back off if they’re not feeling it). She’s teething right now and learning not to nibble on clothes or furniture, but is easily redirected with a toy and really responds to “no.”

Fire does get a little sad when first put in her crate and may whimper, but she settles down quickly. She’s still too young to go on proper walks, but was already comfortable with a leash on the balcony and seemed to “get it.”

Fire may be small, but her heart is huge. She’s full of potential and is already on her way to becoming the goodest girl. If you’re looking for a loyal, loving, and brilliant little best friend, Fire is ready to spark some joy in your life.

Meet Immortal!

Immortal is an adorable 11-week-old, 5.4 lb Chihuahua/Terrier mix bursting with personality! Full of playful energy and puppy charm, he loves romping around with his siblings, chasing toys, and soaking up all the love and attention he can get.

This sweet boy is incredibly affectionate and craves human connection—he’s always ready to snuggle up in your lap after a good play session. Immortal is great with people of all ages, including kids, adults, and seniors, and he gets along wonderfully with other dogs. While he hasn’t been tested with cats just yet, he’s shown nothing but friendly curiosity with everyone he’s met.

He’s already house-trained and puppy pad trained, and though he’s still too young for leash walks, he’s doing great indoors. Immortal is a quiet little guy who doesn’t bark—just the occasional whimper to let you know he’s around. He travels well, has no resource guarding behaviors, and so far hasn’t shown any dislikes. He’s always happy to be petted, held, or cuddled.

Immortal hasn’t learned any formal commands yet, but he’s smart, treat-motivated, and eager to please—training will be a breeze with a little patience and love.

Meet Girl!

Girl is an 8-year-old, 20-pound Jack Russell Terrier mix with a soft heart and a mellow spirit. She’s a quiet, loving companion who prefers snuggles on the couch over high-energy play—and she’s totally okay with spending most of her day curled up in your lap or napping in a cozy corner.

Girl has the sweetest, gentlest soul. She LOVES being pet, especially belly rubs and ear scratches, and is happiest when she’s right next to her person. She’s been an amazing work-from-home buddy, always ready for a cuddle break or a calm presence nearby. While she can be a little shy at first, her affectionate, curious side is starting to shine through more and more each day.

Outdoors, she’s a bit of a homebody but will perk up with a good sniff-walk—especially once she gets curious. Loud city noises (like sirens) can startle her, but she’s adjusting well and slowly building confidence. She’s great on leash and walks nicely when she’s in the mood for a stroll.

Girl is good with other dogs, though she’s more into saying a polite hello than romping around. She hasn’t been tested with kids or cats yet, but she’s been friendly and easygoing with every adult and dog she’s met—including her foster’s neighbors and friends.

She’s very low maintenance—no barking, no chewing, no fuss—and while she’s fully house trained, and she’s p*e pad trained .

This sweet pup doesn’t need much: a quiet home, a lap to curl up in, and someone to love her back as much as she’ll love you. If you’re looking for a calm, affectionate, well-mannered companion who’s past the chaos of puppyhood but still full of love and warmth, Girl might just be the one.

You don’t need any extra pepperoni with this delicious slice of pie! ;-) Introducing Pizza, a fluffy, mostly white, 3-year-old, 9-pound cat who loves to be played with, loves to be pet, and loves to purr! Cheerful and chirpy, Pizza adores people and thrives on human companionship. He loves to be around his people and will happily follow you from room to room like your own fuzzy little shadow.

While he’s not the hugest cuddler, he enjoys simply being nearby and keeping you company. One of his favorite activities? Watching TV with you-yes, really! He’ll even join in on FaceTime calls, as if he’s got something to say (and he probably does).

Pizza is incredibly food motivated and always ready for a tasty treat. He’s a good eater and a great groomer, keeping his gorgeous coat in tip-top shape with daily self-care. Fully litter-box trained, he’ll reliably use his pan and he’s squeaky clean to boot.

While he may look like a lap cat, Pizza has plenty of energy too. He enjoys playing with aluminum balls, swatting fishing pole toys, and going crazy over anything containing catnip. Most nights, you’ll see him get the zoomies, zipping around like he’s training for a feline Olympics.

He hasn’t been around dogs and has only had minimal exposure to other cats, so he’d likely thrive as a one-and-only pet. Give Pizza a warm spot next to you, and he’s all in. He’s also quite the talker-he’ll meow at you like he’s got stories to tell, which makes him even more endearing.

A true Velcro cat, Pizza makes every day a Pizza Purrrty. If you’re looking for a funny, playful, loving little companion who’s happy just to be near you, this guy’s the perfect pick.

Meet our Dog of the Month: Kinston!

This handsome 2-year-old, 45 lb Heeler/Lab mix is a total sweetheart—and a bit of an oversized lap dog!

Kingston loves being with his people, playing with other pups, and going on adventures. He knows his basic commands, is house-trained, crate-trained, and would make an awesome walking or hiking buddy.

Meet Jemal, a 3 month-old, 11.5lb Staffie/Lab mix with a sleek black coat and a little splash of white on his chest. This sweet pup is the perfect mix of playful energy and snuggly charm. Jemal is incredibly affectionate and absolutely obsessed with cuddling—he’s happiest curled up in your lap or lounging in the sun after zooming around the backyard. He loves his toys, especially ropes, squeaky ones, and tennis balls, and he’s great at keeping himself entertained.

Jemal is crate trained and doing really well with potty training, having very few accidents. He’s already learning basic commands like “sit” and “come” and picks things up quickly for such a young pup. Like most teething puppies, he enjoys chewing and can be a bit of a nibbler, but he’s working on learning boundaries and is slowly starting to understand the word “no.” He doesn’t resource guard, isn’t sensitive to being touched, and hasn’t found his bark just yet—he mostly communicates with little whines when he wants attention.

This cuddly guy gets along great with kids, adults, and men and women of all kinds. He hasn’t been tested with cats or elderly individuals yet, and he hasn’t had dog interactions due to not being fully vaccinated, but he’s calm when carried on walks and doesn’t react to people, dogs, or cars passing by. Jemal loves riding in the car, hardly sheds, and doesn’t beg at the dinner table. He also adores being pet, especially belly rubs and ear scratches, and often retreats to his crate when he wants to relax.

If you’re looking for a lovable, playful, and cuddly puppy to grow up alongside, Jemal could be your perfect match. He’s a happy little guy with a lot of love to give and will make a wonderful companion in a forever home.

Duran is a social butterfly when it comes to pups-he LOVES his dog friends and would be thrilled to have a canine sibling or regular dog park playdates. After he’s zoomed around and made his rounds saying hi, he’s ready to settle in for a good cuddle sesh or nap right by your side.

Meet Fantasy – The Regal Nap Queen with a Heart of Gold

Fantasy is a calm, elegant soul who turns heads on the street with her stunning coat and graceful trot. Meet Need/ Wilson! 🐾

This 4-month-old, 24-pound Red Heeler mix is an affectionate, social butterfly with the heart of a Lab and the smarts of a working dog. Don’t be fooled by his cattle dog looks—Wilson is all love, no herding. He’s friendly, goofy, and thriving in his foster home.

Wilson is an energetic, playful pup who loves playing with other dogs, chasing squeaky toys, and exploring the world around him. He’s already picking up on important commands like sit, stay, out, and gentle, and he’s learning come too.

He responds to the names Wilson and W***y and is eager to please—especially if treats are involved!

🚗 Rides well in the car
🦴 Not a resource guarder
🐕 Great with dogs and kids

Wilson is 90% housebroken, sleeps like a champ, and is mastering his leash manners. He gets excited on walks and has great impulse control—he’ll even sit at corners! He naps like a pro after playtime and adores being part of the action. He’s also a cuddler who enjoys belly rubs and sticking close to his people.

That said, Wilson is still a puppy—and with that comes teething, the occasional bark, and a love for shoes if you’re not watching closely.

He’s super scent-focused outdoors and will follow a trail nose-first with total determination. W***y has shown a bit too much interest in the kitty in the home, so we think a cat free home would be best.

Wilson is the whole package: sweet, smart, snuggly, and sociable. With consistency and continued training, he’s going to make the most incredible companion for a lucky family.

Our sister shelter is preparing to move from the only home they’ve ever known—into a new space with fewer kennels and even more urgency.

We want to help them make this transition by getting as many dogs as possible up to New York so they can start the next chapter of their lives—hopefully in their forever homes.

Transport arrives next Saturday, April 26, and we need fosters to help make that possible.

Meet Stone Temple Pilot

This handsome 10-month-old, 47 lb Boxer/Cur mix is our sister shelter’s longest resident, and we’re hoping to change that by next weekend!

Stone is currently in a temp foster home where he’s thriving:

Submissive and playful with other dogs
Warms up quickly to people
Walks beautifully on leash (and even better off-leash in a fenced yard!)
Crate trained & fully house-trained
Great recall, no resource guarding, and takes cues from other pups
When some of our team leaders visited TN, Stone even had a sleepover with them—and they said he was the perfect gentleman and totally stole their hearts.

Let’s help this sweet, overlooked pup finally get the home he deserves.

Meet Maneater (Manny)!

At just 3 months old and 18 pounds of pure squish, Manny is a happy-go-lucky Hound mix with a heart as big as his floppy ears. This playful pup is full of energy, charm, and cuddles—and he’s ready to find his forever home!

Manny is the kind of dog who turns heads and hearts. With his constantly wagging tail and cartoon-dog energy, he’s always ready to play, explore, and make new friends. He’s never met a stranger—he happily trots up to anyone willing to give him a little attention.

Manny loves other dogs and plays for hours with his foster brother. Toys are even more fun when another dog is playing too! While he’s still young and learning the ropes, he’s already crate trained, house trained, and puppy pad trained. He’s been on a leash in the apartment and is getting used to it—though he’s still figuring out that it’s not a chew toy.

Cuddling is one of Manny’s favorite pastimes. When he’s done playing, he’ll snuggle up next to his foster mom or try to curl up with his foster sibling for a cozy nap. He’s also a big fan of belly rubs, head scratches, and Wellness puppy treats.

This sweet boy hasn’t shown any signs of barking, resource guarding, or unwanted behaviors. He’s super responsive to “no,” and loosely follows commands like “sit” and “come.” Manny does well on the subway and is still getting used to car rides (he may get a bit carsick), but overall, he travels just fine.

Manny would thrive in a home with another playful pup or a human who’s ready to keep up with his fun-loving energy and cuddle-filled naps. If you’re looking for a best friend who’s playful, affectionate, and absolutely adorable—Manny might just be your guy!

Meet Possess!

Possess may be the smallest of her litter, but she’s packed with twice the personality! This 2.5-month-old Labradoodle/German Shepherd mix is full of s***k, sass, and sweetness. Her mom was a 74-pound Labradoodle, so we’re estimating Possess will grow into a large breed dog when full grown.

Now the last of her littermates waiting for a forever home, Possess is crate trained and on the quieter side for a puppy—but don’t let that fool you. She’s playful, confident, and always ready for adventure.

She loves the outdoors, playing with toys, getting belly rubs, and soaking up attention from people of all ages. She’s also great with other dogs and has been doing wonderfully with her Chiweenie foster sister, enjoying lots of playtime and companionship.

Possess is still working on her potty training, but she’s smart, eager to please, and learning quickly. She doesn’t resource guard, travels well, and after burning off her puppy energy, she’s always down to snuggle.

Meet Jin!
Jin is a 2.5-month-old Lab mix pup with a wiggly body, a big heart, and a love for literally everything. This happy little guy is full of puppy charm—playful, cuddly, and always up for a game of fetch or tug-of-war. He especially enjoys playing with his sibling, snuggling up for naps, and being wherever his people are (though he settles just fine on his own too).

Jin loves everyone he meets—adults, kids, men, and women—and is learning all about the world around him. He’s already crate trained and working on potty training with access to a yard. Leash walking is still a bit of an adventure (watch your feet!), but he’s getting there!

Like any young pup, Jin has a “chompy” side and sometimes needs to be redirected to appropriate toys, but he’s learning quickly. He’s not a resource guarder, travels well in the car, and is super soft—perfect for endless pets!
