Solid Plastic Dummy Fake Bird Eggs in all sizes. I would like to introduce myself. I am Melanie, creator and sole-proprietor (with my husband Kirk) of DummyEggs.com. Please visit my website DummyEggs.com and watch the short video that introduces how dummy eggs are used to control egg laying in pet birds. Egg laying is an important subject that is often ignored and surprises many pet owners who are

at a loss as to what to do. DummyEggs.com grew out of my own total confusion when my own bonded pair of Cockatiels laid fertile eggs at a time when I could not spend time caring for an additional clutch of chicks. And so I searched the newly burgeoning internet and did find scant rumors of using fake eggs to replace the real ones. Then finding them became an enormous challenge. That was in 2006 when I started DummyEggs.com as a one page website to sell the 3 sizes of plastic eggs I had found a source for in Europe. I resourced many different size eggs from various undependable sources after that, until in 2014 I finally hired an injection molding company and manufactured through them. Now 14 years later, the use and existence of dummy eggs to help control and sometimes encourage breeding is well known and taken for granted. Veterinarians recommend my site for my eggs and brooding information daily. I have helped them deal with a common natural occurrence that all too often results in frantic bird owners running to their office. The response from the avian medical community, not knowing if it is an emergency situation or not, is often expensive and invasive, not to mention the time it takes teaching each client the intricacies of brooding hens. With dummy eggs now available for all size pet birds, people who care for the health of their precious birds can quickly and easily find information on what to do when their bird lays an egg. The worst thing you can do for your bird is just throw the egg(s) away. This forces them to quickly replace the missing egg(s) draining their bodies of vital calcium and nutrients which in turn can cause devasting effects such as egg binding and calcium deficiency. Life threatening symptoms that require a veterinarian. Sincerely,
Melanie

Using fake bird eggs to stop laying is a method that some bird owners use to control the egg production of their pet birds. The idea is to replace the real eggs with fake ones that look and feel similar, so that the bird thinks she has a full clutch and stops laying more eggs. This can help prevent health problems such as calcium deficiency, egg binding, or chronic egg laying.

Some of the benefits of using fake eggs are:
- They can reduce the stress and frustration of the bird who wants to breed but cannot.
- They can prevent unwanted chicks from hatching if the eggs are fertile.
- They can discourage a pecking and egg breaking habit.
- They can encourage the bird to use a designated nesting area instead of laying eggs on the floor or elsewhere.

Some of the drawbacks of using fake eggs are:
- They may not work for every bird or every situation. Some birds may reject or destroy the fake eggs or continue laying more eggs despite having a full nest.
- They may prolong the hormonal cycle of the bird, making her more aggressive, territorial, or noisy.
- They may require constant monitoring and replacement to ensure that the bird does not notice any difference between the real and fake eggs.

To use fake eggs effectively, it is important to follow some guidelines:

- Choose fake eggs that match the size, shape, color, and weight of your bird's eggs.
- Provide enough fake eggs to simulate a full clutch for your bird's species. Usually, 4 to 6 eggs are enough, but some birds may need more or less.
- Leave the fake eggs in the nest for as long as your bird shows interest in them. This may take several weeks or months, depending on your bird's natural breeding cycle.
- Remove the fake eggs gradually when your bird stops sitting on them or caring for them. Do not remove them all at once, as this may trigger more egg laying.
- Avoid any factors that may stimulate your bird to lay more eggs, such as excessive petting, high-protein food, long daylight hours, or nesting materials.

Using fake eggs to stop laying is not a foolproof method, but it can be a helpful tool for some bird owners who want to control their pet's egg production. However, it is not a substitute for proper veterinary care and advice. If your bird has any health issues related to egg laying, such as egg binding, infection, or bleeding, you should consult your veterinarian immediately.

Kirk & I adopted Paulie, a 30 year old Orange Winged Amazon yesterday. He is so wonderful and we are so happy. He is totally tame, hand trained, whistles, laughs, clucks, chuckles. Hoping to hear a word soon. Better yet, Amazons don't fly much so not having to totally redecorate. His daddy died and the family gave him to a bird shop where he has been sitting for 3 months. He is now one very happy bird. Not sure about his gender yet, who knows, maybe she will need a dummy egg. LOL, Cheers everyone!

This wonderful man came out at 10 PM Sunday night to help an
Egyptian Goose with a broken wing. He caught him, bandaged him and took him many miles away to a no kill wildlife rescue center. We loved this wild goose that has been living with his mate in our backyard for several years. I cannot imagine what we would have done if we had to watch him suffer. We could not find any help until we were referred to Kenny. With great appreciation to this selfless man we wish we could do more to support him and his cause. He needs a new phone and a new truck to continue his work. If you are in the South Florida area and have any wildlife emergency call 561-628-5363, Kenny will be there to help. -- Kirk & Melanie, DummyEggs.com

I rescue injured and trapped animals everyday. The truck I use has 220,000 miles on it. I am trying to raise money to get a new truck to continue rescueing animals that no one else will help. I rescue 7-900 animals per year and recieve non funded calls from police, Lifegaurds, and even Florida F...

Did you know that captive birds still have all the instincts of their wild counterparts, and often look for mates in unexpected places, sometimes with the humans they share their life with? While we find the attention flattering, we’re not too keen on encouraging breeding behaviors!

We recently reached out to a fantastic company called Dummy Eggs / DummyEggs.com, which manufactures fake eggs in all sizes for captive birds. They are made to match the natural shape, color, and weight of the eggs produced by each of these birds, to help convince them that they’ve already laid all the eggs they need. Providing a hormonal, “nesty” parrot with dummy eggs helps to prevent her from laying her own, which can be taxing physically, mentally, and emotionally for any pet parrot. Not to mention with all of these wonderful birds waiting to be adopted, we certainly don’t need to be adding more babies to the mix.

We are so grateful to DummyEggs.com for graciously providing us with donated eggs to help out our hormonal birds during these next few months! www.dummyeggs.com
