Destiny Morgan Farm was established in 1994 as a Morgan training stable competing on the A circuit. In 2004 owner Dawn Severance made the decision to change the focus of her farm. Destiny is now a full service boarding and lesson barn with a wide variety of breeds and disciplines. The farm has indoor and outdoor arenas, a large sand dressage arena and a stadium jumping field. The lesson program focuses on building sound basics so the rider is able to pursue whatever discipline intrigues them.

🐾✨ 🐾 Meet Aspen and her adorable puppy brother! 🐶✨
These two have been stealing hearts left and right, but lately, Aspen's little brother has taken up a new hobby - pestering his big sis!
Whether it's playful nips at her ears or a mischievous tug on her tail, he's always up to something. But don't let his antics fool you; these moments are filled with laughter, endless play, and the kind of sibling love that warms your heart. 🥰💕
Watching them together reminds us of the joy and spontaneity pets bring into our lives. Here's to the adventures and the countless memories they continue to create. 🌟🐾
Most horses pass from one human to another - some horsemen and women are patient and forgiving, others are rigorous and demanding, others are cruel, others are ignorant.
Horses have to learn how to, at the minimum, walk, trot, canter, gallop, go on trails and maybe jump, to be treated by the vet, all with sense and good manners.
Talented Thoroughbreds must learn how to win races, and if they can't do that, they must learn how to negotiate courses and jump over strange obstacles without touching them, or do complicated dance
like movements or control cattle or accommodate severely handicapped children and adults in therapy work.
Many horses learn all of these things in the course of a single lifetime. Besides this, they learn to understand and fit into the successive social systems of other horses they meet along the way.
A horse's life is rather like twenty years in foster care, or in and out of prison, while at the same time changing schools over and over and discovering that not only do the other students already have their own social groups, but that what you learned at the old school hasn't much application at the new one.
We do not require as much of any other species, including humans.
That horses frequently excel, that they exceed the expectations of their owners and trainers in such circumstances, is as much a testament to their intelligence and adaptability as to their relationship skills or their natural generosity or their inborn nature.
That they sometimes manifest the same symptoms as abandoned orphans - distress, strange behaviors, anger, fear - is less surprising than that they usually don't.
No one expects a child, or even a dog to develop its intellectual capacities living in a box 23 hours a day and then doing controlled exercises the remaining one.
Mammal minds develop through social interaction and stimulation.
A horse that seems "stupid", "slow", "stubborn", etc. might just have not gotten the chance to learn!
Take care of your horses and treasure them.

UPDATE: As of 2:09 a.m. 9/21/23, the roadway is back open to one lane of travel.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Chief Allen
A motor vehicle crash this evening closed both lanes of US Route 7 near Grandview Road in Colchester. At approximately 8:14 pm, multiple 911 calls reported a vehicle had struck a utility pole on US Route 7 and the vehicle was on fire. The first responding officer found that the operator, 63 year old Craig Benson of Milton, and a passenger had exited the vehicle and were uninjured. The crash and subsequent fire brought down power lines and a transformer onto the roadway. Fire crews were unable to extinguish the fire until Green Mountain Power crews arrived and made the scene safe. Colchester Police were assisted by Milton Police in closing the roadway and detouring traffic. The vehicle, a 2023 Subaru, was destroyed. Investigation into the cause of the crash is continuing. Initial findings show that speed was a factor and the operator was not impaired. Both occupants were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash. US Route 7 remains closed and is expected to be closed for the next hour.

But, climb a box...NOW that's skill! Awesome.

🌼🦌 "A Friendly Reminder from your Hosts at DEC" 🦌🌼 Yup, it’s Spring. We hope you're enjoying riding outside here in the verdant landscape of Vermont and loving the outdoors as much as we do! Being so close to nature does come with its responsibilities, and one of those is staying aware and vigilant about our tiny neighbors - ticks. Ticks are part of our natural environment here in Vermont, and they particularly enjoy tall grasses and leafy areas. You will notice major improvements (barrier) to the backside of the outdoor riding ring, a new road, and more, back to the subject. To prevent these tiny hitchhikers from spoiling your stay, here are a few quick tips: - Dress Smartly: Consider wearing long-sleeved shirts and pants while riding. Tuck your pant legs into your socks for an added layer of protection. Hmmm…. - Use Tick Repellent: If you plan to venture into nature, consider using an EPA-registered tick #repellent on your skin and clothing. - Stick to Paths: Stick to the well-trodden paths whenever possible. Ticks tend to live in tall grass and densely wooded areas. - Perform Daily #Tick Checks: Before turning in for the night, quickly check your body (especially the hidden areas!) for any unwanted guests. Remember, these little critters are a natural part of our ecosystem and don't mean to cause us harm. They're just trying to survive like the rest of us. So let's keep ourselves safe and coexist harmoniously. Happy riding! 🌳🌾🍂 #horsefarm #horse #horses #horseriding #farmlife #equestrian #horsesofinstagram #horselove #horselovers #horselife #farm #horseoftheday #btv #vt #vermont #horsebarn #nature #horseworld #stable #equestrianlife #horsebackriding #horselover #horseofinstagram #equine #horseridingacademy
