Hi all,
It's another Mr. Floof post

He has been doing okay since starting his diabetic treatment. He's now on Lantus insulin twice a day, we've changed his diet, and we are working on getting some glucose readings at home but it's been very difficult.
He has gained a bit of weight this week which is GREAT because of how much he's lost over the last couple months and doing his shots has been pretty easy.

However, after losing Socks last month, our savings is depleted and we have thrown nearly everything we have into getting Floof his treatment started. He has some rechecks coming up in a few weeks, and we have started a fundraiser to try to help fund some of his costs.

❗It's my birthday tomorrow!❗

Sorry guys,
Again, this is not an Ammy post - but so many of you have become more of our friends than followers over the last ten years 🥹
We found out today that Ammy's brother, Mr. Floof, has diabetes 😭 We've noticed that he's been losing weight over the last couple of months and hasn't been grooming himself as well as he used to so he went to the vet yesterday. He seemed mostly healthy during the exam, but he has lost an entire *six* pounds and currently weighs less than he did when we found him outside as a stray. He had his blood sent off and urinalysis ran and his vet called me today to tell me he has high blood sugar and is diabetic.

His vet is now running a diabetic panel to see if he is insulin dependent and needs insulin injections, or if we can treat him with a once-a-day pill. Hopefully that will come back before Friday so we can start treating him. For now, we've been instructed to just keep an eye on him and make sure he is eating and drinking and not becoming reclusive.
I'll be honest, this has all been really difficult to handle after losing Socks last month and it's also becoming a financial strain. We did have a decent savings set aside for our pets, but most of that is gone after trying to save Socks. We are selling some of our things, and I likely am going to be setting up a Mr. Floof fundraiser to at least help us get his diabetes stabilized. Keep an eye out for that post in the upcoming days if you'd like to help.

Otherwise, please send our Floobert all of your best thoughts, especially over the next few days while we wait to start his treatment. He really is the sweetest lil guy. 🖤

Not an Ammy post, but I really wanna share this so bear with me please 🙂


After we lost Socks, I knew I was going to be the one to make her urn. I also knew that I wanted to put her ashes into the glaze.

Since I was in the process of making urns, I also took on the task of making an urn for Chris' late cat, Oreo, and my brother's late cat, Boogoo.

I'd only ever used synthetic bone ash in glaze recipes. I asked a friend if he'd ever put someone's actual ash in a glaze before and his reply was, "No, but I have a guy..." and then gave me the ashes of Actual Guy.

I sieved Actual Guy down to 60 mesh and started testing glazes.
I set out to get a matte light grey and white to mimic Socks and Boogoo's fur, and a glossy black and white for Oreo's.

Lots of tests later, and I found some combinations that I was happy with.

I then sieved Oreo and Socks and mixed part of them into the glazes. While sieving Oreo, I found a fully intact little bone amidst her ashes.

They went in the kiln on Monday and I took them out this morning. I haven't ever been more nervous for a firing if I'm being honest.

But I'm so happy with how they came out, and I'm glad I could put part of them in the glazes.
