BABE ALERT

We went to the park this morning. Ammy is doing around half of her normal walk, which is definitely an improvement from last week! Hopefully her gabapentin will keep on doin' it's job and she'll be back to her full walkies asap. 🖤

On another note, Ammy does seem like she's getting around a little bit easier after staying her gabapentin. 🖤 We've been playing all morning and we haven't used her sling in the last few days, either 🙂

Ammy's vet does NOT think she has DM and her leggy issue is NOT neurological. 🙌

He thinks it's just wear and tear on her leg and she's lost a bit of flexibility in her leg after her TPLO surgery. She's back getting X-rays now just to double check everything and then we're going to start her on gabapentin daily in addition to her galliprant for some extra pain management.

Nothing concerning on her x-rays, other than her pesky barkritis that we are already treating. 🖤

Baby Ammy also hasn't been doing the best over this weekend. She's been having some issues with her back leg where she's been having a difficult time getting up, she's been falling often, and her back leg seems like it's been dragging a bit as she walks. We've been using her sling every day for the last several days.

She's going in to see her vet tomorrow morning.

Socks made the big journey to space this morning.

We rushed her to the emergency vet yesterday night after she was found meowing in distress, limp, drooling, and covered in urine. They found she was dehydrated and had dangerously low calcium levels, but no reason as to why. They kept her hospitalized overnight with oxygen, fluids, calcium, and whatever other meds and supplements she needed.

She improved a bit overnight, but giving her fluids was causing her to go into heart failure and her kidneys were failing. Her little body was just giving out. We decided to give her one final kindness and helped her along on her space journey. She was surrounded by Chris and I, getting pets and kisses the entire time.

We found Socks about three years ago outside of our old apartment in Missouri. It took us months to gain her trust enough for her to even come near us. One morning as Chris was leaving, he saw some people yelling at her outside and when I came home that night, her tail was broken. I coaxed her inside that night and decided she wasn't going back out there. We took her to our vet, treated her tail, got her vaccinated, and also found out she was missing most of her teeth and still needed several removed due to severe dental disease. Once she was all better and had a clean bill of health, she got introduced to our other resident cats and she found her girlfriend, Effie. Socks and Effie were an inseparable cat couple who snuggled constantly. Even though Socks was never the most trustful of humans, she had Effie to keep her company.

She never got over being a big scaredy cat, but that was okay with us as long as she was warm, fed, and safe. She hid from us most of the time she was with us, only coming out occasionally for a snuggle or pet but only ever on her terms.

Socks, I wish we had found you sooner and could have given you more than a good three years. I'm glad you found Effie and were able to relax for your final years, but I'm so sorry for everything you dealt with beforehand. I hope you enjoyed being able to relax for the last few years and I hope you know you are so loved.

Ammy's cat sister, Socks, was rushed to the emergency vet tonight.
Chris and I were at our computers earlier tonight when Socks started meowing repeatedly in distress out of the blue. Chris rushed to her and she was limp, had drool dripping from her mouth, and was covered in urine. We immediately took her to our closest emergency vet.

They have her stable for now and have run diagnoses which have mostly come back inconclusive. She is dehydrated and low on calcium for some unknown reason. She is staying hospitalized overnight, with oxygen, fluids, calcium, and whatever other supplements or meds as needed.

We don't know what has caused this. We are hoping that she is going to improve overnight with constant monitoring and care. However, due to the severity of her condition and that we don't have an underlying cause to treat, we may have to make the dreaded decision in the morning if she hasn't significantly improved.

Please keep Socks and us in your thoughts tonight. 🖤
