🐾 World Spay Day – February 25 🐾

At Northern Virginia Sheltie Rescue, we spay every female Sheltie before adoption because it's essential for their health and well-being. Spaying prevents life-threatening infections like pyometra, eliminates the risk of uterine and ovarian cancer, and reduces the chances of mammary tumors. It also helps reduce the number of unwanted litters, preventing more dogs from ending up in shelters.

Spaying is a simple way to give dogs longer, healthier lives while helping control pet overpopulation. Do your part—spay & neuter!

Rowdy hasn't found his forever home yet and we're wondering why! This handsome 18-month-old boy is full of energy, love, and fun. Rowdy is a hilarious, playful, and sweet dog who loves nothing more than to make his humans happy. He's an intelligent pup who knows how to make his presence known when he gets excited - he can't wait to see you! Once he's calmed down, he's the perfect cuddle buddy. This funny boy is affectionate and would love a home where he can get lots of attention and be with his people. He's an all-around good boy who's already housebroken and crate-trained. He enjoys riding in the car and walking on a leash, although he does get a bit vocal when he's excited. Rowdy would do best with someone who is home most of the time and would love to have a furry playmate so he can run around and play with them. Rowdy would be a great candidate for flyball or agility, he is very attentive and very smart! He's a sweet boy who can't wait to meet his forever family and become their very best friend! ✅ Do’s:

❤️ Give Pet-Safe Treats – Offer dog-friendly treats or homemade goodies made with safe ingredients like peanut butter (xylitol-free) or pumpkin.
❤️ Plan a Special Outing – Take your Sheltie on a fun walk, hike, or playdate to celebrate together.
❤️ New Toy or Cozy Gift – Surprise them with a new toy, a comfy blanket, or a cozy dog bed.
❤️ Photo Session – Capture adorable Valentine’s Day pictures with festive backgrounds or heart-themed accessories.
