Sorry for the recent radio silence. Rest assured, Seymour is still hanging in there, if only for his nightly treats. 😸 He’s just not very photogenic anymore, being half the weight he was in his prime, so I’d rather pull your heartstrings with a video of my latest ward instead. His name is Al, he’s 2 years old and either a Siberian or Norwegian mix (could be purebred, for all we know). Sadly, his front leg had to be amputated after being hit by a car and while he was at the vet we learned he was also FIV+. They thought he’d recover faster in a foster home and mine was available. It’s been a heartbreaking couple months watching Seymour’s health make a slow decline. He’s had good days and bad days, but today was different and I fear I’m at that horrible crossroads once again. It’s so unfair that he got such a raw deal genetically, but he’s been one of the greatest joys in my life and I only want to do right by him. Please keep my little boy in your thoughts and prayers. As some of you know, I’ve been “cheating” on Seymour and Tawny by volunteering at a local animal shelter in east TN. A couple days a week I clean kennels and socialize with the current denizens, in the hopes that a little human love will make them less scared of their situation and more appealing to potential adopters. #lovemynewjob #retirementgoals It’s kitten season and two stray mama cats (both gorgeous solid black cats) were recently brought in with their litters, which need slightly different care. Kittens can’t be adopted until they are old enough to be spayed or neutered so they will be in foster care until that time. Since Zoe was the youngest cat I ever adopted at 3 months, I’m getting a kick out of watching the one-week and one-month old kittens we currently have grow, even in the course of a week or two. So in honor of #mothersday2021, here’s a clip of slightly frazzled mama Tulip and her adorably energetic quartet Azalea, Prim(rose), Daffy(dil) and Pan(sy) - they were named before we learned 3 of them were male.😸 #rescuedismyfavoritebreed #opttoadopt #catsareawesome #kittenrescue #kittenlife
