New Toys!
The cats and kittens love when there is a new toy in the mix!
Featuring: Checo, Lando and Poppy
Meet Ron!
Ron is everything you could ever dream a cat could be. He is an incredibly sweet and affectionate older gentleman, who will happily sit in your lap and purr away. Pet him, and he will roll around, purring and begging for more. Absolute best friend material! He is a laid-back, mellow, go-with-the-flow kind of guy. Ron can't wait to find his perfect home so he can shower his new family in love and attention.
Ron came to us with his long, orange fur in mats. He got a haircut, which is why he looks a little goofy right now! But boy, does it feel better. Once his fur grows back in, Ron will be back to his fluffy, ultra-handsome self.
Ron has FIV, so would do best as an only cat or with another FIV-positive cat as a buddy.

Meet Autumn!
Meet Autumn!
Autumn loves to play with the quacking duck, she gets a kick out of it’s flapping wings. When Autumn isn’t playing or snacking, her favorite pastime is to curl up on a cozy lap. She is so affectionate!
Autumn was born without vision so she’s learned to navigate through life by using her other senses. She is very smart and she has one wise white whisker to prove it! She recently had all of her teeth removed and she’s looking and feeling her best self! Now all Autumn needs is a special home to call her very own. If you’re looking for a silly cat that loves to cuddle then Autumn is your girl!

Friday Facts | Grooming Rituals🐾
Cats spend a significant amount of time grooming themselves. This not only keeps their fur clean but also helps regulate body temperature and stimulates blood flow.
Friday Facts🐾 Dogs Sense of Smell. Dogs have an incredible sense of smell. Their noses have up to 300 million smell receptors, compared to a human's 5 million. This exceptional olfactory ability allows them to detect certain diseases, locate missing persons, and even identify individual scents. Here is Wilson one of our Sunday School pups sniffing around! Wilson is available for adoption at Contra Costa Animal Services
Wishing everyone a Happy Easter🐰
Please enjoy watching Sugar Cube and his new duck toy 🐥
Sunday School Vibes 😎
Stop by Contra Costa Animal Services at 4800 Imhoff Pl. in Martinez to meet these cuties.
Open Tuesday through Saturday, 10:00am to 5:00pm (until 7:00pm on Wednesdays).
🐕Sunday School🐾
Every Sunday you’ll find CCHS volunteers at the Martinez animal shelter with leashes, treats, and toys in hand. Working with the shelter staff, CCHS identifies dogs that could benefit from additional time outside their kennel taking part in manners training, enrichment and plain old play time! Sunday School helps socialize and prepare the dogs for successful adoption.
Friday Facts 🐾
A cat's whiskers are roughly as wide as its body, helping them navigate through tight spaces. In addition, whiskers are highly sensitive and can detect changes in air currents. Does that mean cats can sense a change in weather?

Tail Wagging Communication
Friday Facts🐾 Tail Wagging Communication🐕
While many people associate a wagging tail with a happy dog, it's essential to note that the speed, height, and direction of the wag can convey different emotions. For example, a slow wag may indicate insecurity or submission, while a high, fast wag may signal excitement.
Understanding these behaviors can deepen the bond between you and your furry friend and help create a happy and healthy relationship.
