Hops and his friend Hazel (BC came too but she didn’t want to be in the picture) went to ’ walk at Northeast Metropolitan Park today and they loved it! Hops isn’t super reactive but he’s scared of going new places and meeting new people, Hazel gets a little too pumped to meet new dogs, and Buttercup doesn’t care about anything but going on a nice walk, so it was fun to take them to a new place and walk with other dogs! If you’re wanting to do a safe pack walk with your reactive dog, this is the way to do it!

(You’d never know it, but BOTH Hazel and Hops are bully breed mixes 😆. Hazel is a pittie/beagle mix and fully identifies as a chihuahua. Hops is a chihuahua/Boston terrier/rat terrier mix and fully identifies as a lorge boy)

I tried to take a cute pic of Hoppies eating his steak and eggs bowl and he decided to slurp that eggy out immediately 😆

There’s a lot of controversy over how people should feed their dogs. I’ve fed my dogs kibble in the past and Buttercup just couldn’t lose weight on it. What I’ve learned is that every dog is different and there’s no “one size fits all” approach. I variety feed the dogs and they happily scarf down their bowls every night with no complaints. One of my favorite things to feed them is because I can add any meat or protein to the base mixes with an omega oil and it’s a complete, balanced meal. What’s in this bowl?

Low Carb Steak and Eggs Bowl:
🥬 Paradigm (low carb greens mix)
🥩 Eye of round (extra lean and usually even cheaper than extra lean ground beef) cut in small pieces and served raw, but you can also cook and cut it!
🍳 Sunny side up quail egg
🍣 health and shine omega oil

I know a lot of people are like “your picky dog won’t go hungry! Just feed them (insert here) and they’ll eventually eat” but I WANT my dogs to be happy for dinner. I want them to see their food and be pumped. I think your dog SHOULD be happy with their food. Do they need to be? I guess not, but I like spoiling these little turds. We brought all three dogs out to celebrate ’s anniversary! Hoppies did so well and we brought him a cheeseborger for happy reinforcement, then went home once he was got a little overstimulated. They all enjoyed lots of treats and some froyo! Happy anniversary to our favorite vet and crew!

Remember back in the beginning of April when it was chilly 😆 I keep thinking fondly of that day when the dogs had to put their fuzzy coats on and I got to wear a hoodie. Good times y’all.

ANYWAY, Mr. Dumptruck and I went on a little brunch date to with BC and Hops and we all loved it. Mr. Dumptruck had the chile Colorado burrito (amazing) and I had the pancakes and a cortado, but just a normal cortado because I was being a big ol baby and needed coffee too badly to risk one that I might not like! The dogs LOVE pancakes so I had to let them take a little bite.

Our advice: go early, because we had just missed the Tw***ie and I think it was around 11 when we went? I’d go back in a second for those pancakes though! The whole patio is dog friendly but: if you have a nervous dog, there are a lot of dogs in line and walking through, so make sure you’re prepared with treats to engage your dog if they’re not into that! Surprisingly, Hops did really well (he usually does if strangers respect his space but not everyone does) so I’m looking forward to taking him a few more places and testing out his newfound sense of adventure ❤️

Our little baby boy* Hoppies can be a mess with a lot of big feelings but his happy place is on his toddler cabana, roasting in the sun, on neighborhood watch. 🌞

I feel like it’s extra difficult to be alive right now, but taking my best girl to therapy dog visits makes me feel better about humanity in general.

She visited for the first time, which happened to be her first senior home as well. For some reason, I never signed her up for visits like this because I didn’t think she’d like them. She’s usually an elementary school gal and she LOVES her kids. I signed her up for this one because they were celebrating national dog day with pup cups and treats, and if you know my girl, she loves a pup cup. She not only received the biggest pup cup of her life but also had more homemade treats than I could count, and a homemade pupsicle. She also received a small dinner with pumpkin in it because even a stomach of steel has her limits.

The first picture was supposed to be a video (oops) but she walked into this woman’s lap at the memory care unit so she could get some pets and the woman was so happy and gave the best neck scratchies and pets 🥹

I didn’t get a pic of my favorite moment, but a man came shuffling over to her and I was a little worried so I picked Buttercup up in case he might fall. He came up to her said she was a beautiful girl and she gave him a kiss on his nose. He was delighted 🥹 like I’m stressed about the world in general but dogs are magic and this is why ❤️

Buttercup got a solo walk today because her poor brother is at the vet getting a sedated nail trim 😬 she was all like SUCKS TO BE YOU, HOPPERS, but then I put her on to protect her squinty eyes so I guess it sucks to be Buttercup too 😆

Is even a thing anymore? Here are my best two boys: Mr. Dumptruck and his mustache, and baby Hoppies. Don’t be fooled that only Hops has a “slut for cheese” tag. They are BOTH s***s for cheese.

The girls might run the show over here (the three of us have strong personalities 😆) but dog dad and Hoppies are the goodest of good boys ❤️
