Turn up the jams! Niko is celebrating!
Hey Niko! Where ya headed?
- to get my health certificate
But why?
- because I’m going on a trip soon
To where?
-my forever home!!!!
Niko has been matched with the perfect forever home for him and will soon be making his way east! We’ll post more soon when he’s ready to make his journey!
A look back at 2022
These are a few of the beautiful Carolina Dogs that our rescue saved and found forever homes this year. As 100% volunteer run rescue there are many sacrifices we all make to save, care for, and support these animals but every sleepless night and tear shed is 100% worth it. These dogs captured all of our hearts this year and we are so thrilled they’ve all found their forever families and are living lives they never dreamed possible. Happy New Year everyone!
Bumble heads to his new foster home!
It’s time for the puppies to branch out which means forever homes for some and new foster homes for others. This beautiful family has taken in Bumble to foster and made the sweetest video of their journey!
Update on Niko!
Our sweet boy that was abandoned and abused is healing wonderfully! You can barely tell he had a leg injury now and he is being weaned off prednisone. We can even tell his face is beginning to heal.
We are incredibly grateful to his foster mom who is currently fostering 2 pups for us, as well as caring for other dogs. Niko has been able to meet a few and has made some new friends! He’s not a huge fan of the crate but is learning it’s his safe space. We are so impressed with how quickly he’s picked up some commands. Niko is definitely attentive, a people pleaser, and an attention hog. We think he’d do well with other canine companions or as an only dog.
We are just over the moon with his recovery! Thank you for all of your prayers and your donations to his care. You all helped us save this boy!

Ivy refuses to come in out of the snow
The only one not upset over the cold weather is adoptable Ivy who refuses to come inside. 🥶
We hope you are all staying safe and warm, especially Ivy’s foster mom!
*we promise Ivy isn’t left outside, her foster mom walked in to try and coax her to come inside

We were alerted to this boy in Houston who has been abandoned in an apartment complex for quite some time. Animal control had been called multiple times with no results. He’s been outside freezing in the cold nights with scraps of food being tossed to him occasionally. We were told about him when one of the neighbors in the complex beat him and left him outside crying. He has a pronounced limp and his face is covered in bruises
Despite the monstrous side of humanity he has been shown, he is very calm and trusting. We are going to get him checked out ASAP to find out the extent of his injuries.
We have decided to name this boy St Nick aka Niko. We love you sweet boy, no harm will ever come to you again

Adoptable Ivy is one smart cookie! This tug toy is a suction cup tethered to a ball intended for a pup to play tug-of-war solo. Ivy quickly figured out the mechanics and how to get the suction cup off. We just love this sweet intelligent girl!

Little boy sings to his foster dog
Some things are just too sweet not to share. How adorable is this precious little one singing to his Carolina Dog foster, Kiera. 🥰. Kiera is not one of our fosters but she is available for adoption in Athens, Tennessee with McMinn Regional Humane Society.
We just hope whoever adopts her will schedule play dates with this little boy. He obviously adores her!

Gypsy is so excited that mommy is home!
A few weeks ago we shared that our rescue director’s baby girl, Gypsy, was diagnosed with cancer. All of your prayers and continued support means so much. She is currently undergoing holistic treatments and living each day to the fullest. There is such a special bond between them and it’s clear with how Gypsy can’t contain her excitement when mommy gets home from work! She’s a happy dog! 🥰

Katy reunites with the family that saved her life
If this reunion of Katy and the family that helped save her doesn’t bring tears to your eyes and a smile to your face, I don’t know what will.
This is Katy’s original foster family - the family that took in an abused puppy, saved her life by taking her to the ER when she showed signs of breathing problems, visited her in the hospital every day, held her paw while she was in the oxygen chamber, never gave up on her, and showed her the first love and affection she’d ever known. They were able to visit her current foster’s home to say their final farewell as Katy will be leaving for her forever home next week.
The absolute pure joy Katy shows when she sees them says it all. This is why we work so hard and never give up on our pups.
We are SO proud of foster girl, Cinny! She is a long term foster that has been working with her foster family since December 2021. When Cinny was rescued she was very fearful and anxious. She would bark at other people and dogs on walks and was very nervous in new situations. Look at her now!! This is truly amazing and shows how lots of patience, love, and training can build those bonds of trust and make a huge transformation. The link to learn more about Cinny and apply for adoption is at the bottom.
This is the update we got from her foster family yesterday:
“SCD foster Cinnamon aka Cinny Bun Bun had a great day yesterday!!
Texas has had some awful heatwaves since July, and because Cinny is going through heartworm treatment I’ve been very selective on when she goes on her walks depending on the weather.
We finally had a small break from the heat early in the morning so literally jumped out of bed and got her ready to go!! It was exactly what both of us needed! Cinny has been working on not barking at all the humans and dogs she sees on her walks, this walk was a success!!! She was able to walk past a couple dogs, a couple humans- near and far, and a whole team of cyclists and she kept her composure each time!!! Even the cycling team said (as the rode by) how pretty and how well behaved she was!!
On our walks, besides working on basic training Cinny goes on a Good Sniff-ari!! This is so good for her mental stimulation and helps wear her out!!! She will smell EVERY pole, mailbox, and street corner of allowed! While this makes the walk a little longer, I know the neighborhood has been throughly inspected and I am safe from all intruders! 😅
Cinny also had an outing yesterday!! She got to go to Tractor Supply! I’ll be honest, the last time we took her there with us was a few months ago and she was not ready. She didn’t know how to handle people walking past her and her guard would just go right up. But yesterday she was able to walk through the wh
Foster girl, Sandy, checking in! It’s been a long 10 months adjusting to domesticated life. Every dog is different and I just need more time than others to acclimate. I get very nervous (especially with leashes) and don’t like to approach anyone head on. However…
With a LOT of patience and love from my foster mom and the addition of some new calming treats, I’m feeling more confident than ever! My foster mom even caught me on camera approaching her directly when called! I’m a really sweet girl, just have some personal hurdles to overcome. I’m getting better with leashes and know that’s my last hurdle to jump before I can find my forever home. So, send me all your love and positivity. I know I can do it!!
Just a little bit of adorable to add to your day ❤️ Baby Liza vs the ice cube

Katy FINALLY gets to be a puppy. We love seeing her living a normal life. She is still recovering but every day is a miracle for this sweet girl.
Look how smart our little warrior, Katy is! She already knows how to put herself to bed 🥰
Update on Katy from our rescue director:
Katy PUPDATE!! Our little warrior is doing SOOOOOO good!! One of our awesome fosters, Katherine, went to see her this morning and she was just a normal playful - I wanna chew on everything - puppy!
My heart is full this morning - we pulled off a miracle with this little girl ❤ I've cried so many worried tears these past 2 weeks - and this morning I finally cried happy tears....I love this little girl so much. I can't begin to imagine how terrified she must have been when someone attacked her and then she lands in one of the highest kill shelters in the country - only to end up with infections from neglect and pneumonia that almost took her life 😞
I am going to stand by this sweet girl and find her the most amazing home that will love her and protect her from any more harm ever in her life!
I spoke with the doctor this morning and we have an exit plan in place potentially for tomorrow. She's been switched to oral antibiotics, she'll have x-rays and blood work done before she leaves - that way when she comes back in 7 days we'll have a good comparison to be sure nothing is regressing out of the sterile environment of the ER.
Keep those paws crossed and the prayers coming for Katy - thank you EVERYONE for all the support, donations, love, prayers - she's here because of all of you <3
Katy is officially off of oxygen!!! ❤️
We have an AMAZING update on Katy! Katy is out of the oxygen chamber! The little rascal chewed her IV line 6x's today so they decided to try her on nasal oxygen and she's doing fantastic on it!
She's eating, drinking, has energy - the doctor said at this time they are extremely optimistic and think she's going to make a full recovery and may be able to go home within a couple of days!
This is the miracle we've all been hoping and praying for and we’re beyond thankful for each and everyone of you who stayed positive, prayed, donated, shared, asked for updates and stood by our side as we went down a road we've never been down before ❤
Honestly you guys - we've never had a dog this sick and we weren’t sure she was going to make it.....but all of you gave us so much hope! Thank you!!!
We will keep everyone updated on her progress - so keep those prayers coming.....but let's change them up to "Let's get Katy home to her foster!"
