We’ve Been Littered!
This past week, Fat Cat Café was littered! Not with real kittens, but with a playful display meant to raise awareness about the importance of spaying and neutering.
It’s part of the Littering Campaign by our colleagues at Leon County Humane Society, designed to show how quickly one or two unfixed cats can turn into dozens. While our café is full of adorable, adoptable cats — the truth is, there are far more cats in need than there are homes. Our rescue sees this issue daily, as we get so many requests to help cats in need.
The reality is, spaying and neutering saves lives. It reduces suffering, prevents overcrowded shelters, and gives more cats a chance to find loving families. If you’re feeding outdoor cats or noticing strays in your neighborhood, don’t wait for kittens to appear. Reach out to us or Leon County Humane Society.
Need help getting cats fixed? We can help guide you to local resources and low-cost options to get them the care they need.
Love cats? Want to make a difference? Litter a yard, spread the word, and help us end pet overpopulation — one cat at a time.

Behind the Whskers: Meet Gisele 🐱
Gisele’s rescue journey began when she adopted QT, a 13‑year‑old with chronic kidney disease. Moved by FALC’s commitment to seniors, she reached out, got involved, and became our Secretary, Adoption Coordinator, and Foster Helper.
She has a special place in her heart for senior cats: to date she’s fostered six seniors, three of whom she cared for through their final days. “Even in their last chapter, every cat deserves love, comfort, and a peaceful passing,” she says.
One story that stays with her is Seabass, an 18‑year‑old Siamese. Despite severe health issues and a grumpy disposition, he chose Gisele as his person—and spent six cherished months nestled in her lap. When a tiny, frail Siamese from a hoarding case arrived later, Gisele named her Guppy in Seabass’s memory—and today, Guppy’s dark chocolate coat reminds her of that bond.
Gisele reminds us that rescue isn’t always happy. But every life saved, every “purr of thanks,” makes it worth it. Her advice? “Just do it. Adopt, foster, volunteer, donate. Whatever you can offer, you’ll never regret it.”

Spring Cleaning? Donate to Our Yard Sale Fundraiser! (To be held first weekend in May, location TBA)
If you’re clearing out clutter and have items to spare, consider donating them to our yard sale fundraiser benefiting the cats of our rescue!
Drop-off Location:
Fat Cat Cafe – 2901 E Park Ave
Donation Hours: Thursday–Sunday, 11:00 AM – 7:00 PM
We kindly ask that only items in good or great condition be donated. Please no clothing, and no items that are broken, dirty, damaged, or heavily used. While we’re so grateful for the generosity of our community, sorting through unusable donations takes valuable time away from our rescue work. Your thoughtful donations truly make a difference!
If it’s something you would be excited to buy at a yard sale, that’s a great guideline!
For larger items like furniture, please email us at [email protected] to schedule a drop off time.
As always, 100% of proceeds go directly toward the care of our current cats and the rescue of future ones.
Thank you for supporting our kitties!

Behind the Whiskers: Meet the Kitty Meowmy!
Meet one of our wonderful foster heroes, known as . After moving to Tallahassee, she and her family knew right away they wanted a home that could support their dream of fostering. The moment they connected with FALC, they felt at home—and they’ve been changing feline lives ever since!
“As a foster mom, I care for the kitties until they’re big and healthy enough to graduate into their ‘furever’ homes,” she says. “It’s been such a massive goal for us to be a part of something like this. I’ve always loved cats, and now I get to do more for the community and the kitties that live here.”
Her favorite part? Getting chosen by the “cat distribution system,” of course! Over time, they’ve adopted six FALC fur babies of their own—each one loved like family.
One story especially close to her heart is of Comiskey, a sweet little foster with poor vision. “After a lot of medicine and love, it seemed like he could finally see a bit! It felt like such a huge victory. I was so proud to be part of his journey.”
She adds, “Something people might not realize? Goodbyes are tough. I still tear up when it’s time to let them go—but knowing they’re heading to loving homes makes it all worth it.”
To anyone thinking about getting involved, she has this to say:
“It’s changed our lives for the better in soooo many ways. I hope you consider it—you could quite literally save lives… and maybe even meet your new best friend (or six!)”

Wanting to deliver a unique experience to the Tallahassee community, Fat Cat Cafe Tallahassee officially opened its doors in August of 2017.
From the start, our mission has always been, and always will be, about giving cats a second chance at life. By partnering with local rescue organizations, we’re able to save kitties from all walks of life and give them a fresh start at Fat Cat Cafe. These cats are then housed at our cafe, all patiently waiting to meet you and find their new furever home.
Our cafe side of things offer an eclectic boutique (full of gifts for cat lovers) and delicious coffee and teas, all available for your enjoyment while you cozy up to our residents.
Keep up with our page, as we have some amazing events going on, including Yoga with Kitties, rock painting, adult art classes and much more.
We hope to see you soon!
