Let’s have a real conversation again ,about “miniatures”. The most common question I get, how small will they be? Will they be small? We are looking for a smaller size doxies.

I will never guarantee that a puppy will stay a true miniature.
And truthfully, no one ethically can.

Dachshunds are not as simple as “mini parents = mini puppies.”
Their size is influenced by generations of genetics, not just mom and dad standing in front of you.

I’ve personally seen it in my own program…
two smaller parents can absolutely produce a puppy that matures into a tweenie or even a small standard.

That’s not a mistake.
That’s genetics doing what genetics do.

And here’s where I may be a little different than most…

I do not chase tiny.

I don’t breed for the smallest dog possible.
I don’t advertise “guaranteed 8 pounds.”
And I don’t make promises I can’t stand behind.

Because for me… size is the least important piece of the puzzle.

What matters most in my program is:
• Health
• Structure
• Temperament

Always in that order.

And I’m going to be honest with you…

The smaller they get, the more cautious I become.

Extremely tiny dachshunds can sometimes come with:
• more fragile bone structure
• higher risk of injury, especially with their long backs
• difficulty maintaining weight or stability
• and in some cases, more long term health concerns

Now does that mean every small dog has issues?
Of course not.

But as a breeder who sees these dogs grow, develop, and live real lives…
I pay attention to patterns.

And what I’ve found is this…

Those slightly bigger dogs… the tweenies and small standards…
tend to be:
• sturdier
• more physically balanced
• and overall more resilient

They can still be small, still be absolutely beautiful, still have that classic dachshund look…
but with a build that supports a healthier life.

And that matters to me more than a number on a scale.

Most of my dachshunds fall right into that “in between” range…
not oversized, not tiny… just well built and well balanced.

And I’ll take that every single time.

Because at the end of the day…

I’m not just producing puppies.
I’m raising future family members.

Dogs that will jump on couches
run through yards
play with kids
and live real, full lives

And I want them built to handle that ❤️

So if your main goal is a “teacup” or the smallest dachshund possible…
I may not be the right fit for you.

But if you want:
🐾 a healthy, well structured dog
🐾 a stable, loving temperament
🐾 and a breeder who puts the dog first, not the trend

Then you’re exactly where you’re meant to be.

𝑾𝒉𝒚 𝑰 𝑫𝒐𝒏’𝒕 𝑳𝒆𝒕 𝑷𝒆𝒐𝒑𝒍𝒆 𝑪𝒐𝒎𝒆 𝒕𝒐 𝑴𝒚 𝑯𝒐𝒎𝒆

I get asked this all the time,
and I promise, I understand the question.

If I was getting a puppy, I’d want to see everything too. Where they’re raised, meet the mom, just make sure it all feels right.

So I get it 🤍

But there are a few reasons I don’t allow visitors into my home… and they’re very intentional.

First let’s talk about something most people don’t even think about…

your shoes.

Anything you’ve stepped in vet offices, pet stores, gas stations, parks, even your own yard can carry things like parvo, giardia, coccidia.

You won’t see it. You won’t know it’s there.
But all it takes is one visit, one exposure…

and now it’s inside with a litter of puppies whose immune systems are still developing.

And once something like that is brought in, it’s not just “clean it and move on.”

It spreads fast.
It’s expensive to treat.
And in worst cases you can lose an entire litter.

That’s not a risk I’m willing to take. Ever.

And then there’s the part people don’t always want to think about…

safety.

Cases like the Paul Peavey case and the Florida dognapping shootout are a big reason a lot of breeders have changed how they do things.

To put it simply,
these weren’t just “someone tried to steal a dog” situations.

Homes were targeted.
People were followed.
Dogs were stolen for resale or breeding.
And in one of these cases, it escalated into taking someone’s life.

All because someone knew where the dogs were.

That’s real life. Not just something you see online.

And when you’re raising multiple dogs and litters you have to think about protecting them long-term, not just in the moment.

So for me, it comes down to this:

I’m not running a storefront with people coming in and out all day.

These puppies are born and raised in my home.
They’re part of my daily life.

And it’s my job to protect that environment even if it’s not what everyone expects.

That being said, I also never want anyone to feel like they’re going into this blindly.

So I offer other ways for you to see everything.

We can FaceTime so you can see mom, the puppies, and how they’re being raised in real time.
I send constant photo and video updates.
And we do public meet-ups so you can meet your puppy and the parents safely before bringing them home.

At the end of the day, it’s not about being unwelcoming.

It’s about being protective.

Of my dogs.
Of my puppies.
And of something I’ve worked really hard to build.

And I’ll always choose that 🤍
