Beau was rescued by the Beagle Freedom Project in 2014 after he spent 281 days captive being torture
I would like to introduce you to Stitch. He was rescued from California. My mom and I flew to California and drove him back home to Pennsylvania. He was an owner surrender. My hubby and Aunt Karen saw his picture once and both said we HAVE to get him. His eyes reminded us of Beau's. He is a bigger beagle just like Beau. He has definitely helped heal our hearts little by little every day. Beau would have loved him.
Happy New Year!. We got Lily's DNA results back and she is 43% beagle. So she has to pick up all the beagling slack in the house and oh she is. Stole my piece of cheesecake just yesterday. She's taken over all of the Beau habits of the house. She's also German Shepherd, Brittany, Golden Retriever, and much more (a little Collie, a little Bassett, Boxer, Airedale Terrier).
Only one thing better than puppies in pajamas...puppies in Christmas pajamas. Merry Christmas!

My baby boy is gone. A once in a lifetime dog. Here is the last picture that was taken of him. He always loved walks. In fact when he came out of the lab so scared the only thing that gave him peace was going for a walk. So we called it walk therapy. And so we walked and walked and adventured together for years giving each other therapy. Mike and him became partners and best friends this way which is very impressive considering Beau was so scared of humans especially men. Beau was struggling to walk the last few days but he let us know that he wanted to go on one last walk, that the yard wasn't cutting it. So Karen and I took turns holding him on his normal daily route through the neighborhood. He enjoyed every second of sniffing the air reminding him of his freedom. His velvety ears flapped in the wind just like they did daily scooping up all the sniffs of the neighborhood. I have a huge beagle shaped hole in my heart now. I would love to share more of his story but it's just too sad to do now. He looked for me for comfort when he was dying just as he did when he was first freed from experiments. So I did just that. I held, hugged, kissed and loved on my baby boy with Mike and Aunt Karen until his last breath. I'll share more soon when I can.
I wish I could stay in mom's arms forever. My favorite place to be.

Guess who I am home with today?!?!?!?! Beau came home last night. He was so happy to spend the night in our/his bed. The hospital did everything they could. Now we are just trying to manage his care the next couple of days to get him out of this critical point. Our job is to make sure he is comfortable and he eats. So far so good. If we can get out of the next couple of days with him eating and being comfortable then we will start to manage his kidney disease. He is much better this morning than he was last night so there is so much hope. Love my baby boy. Please keep him in your thoughts. He has a follow-up appointment with his vet on Monday. We will hope to see some improvement in his numbers then. Right now so many pets, snuggles, hugs, and kisses. ~Beau's mom
We got to spend some good quality time with Beau today at the hospital. Lots of snuggles, hugs, and kisses. One of his kidney numbers came down but the other one didn't enough. He was put on blood pressure medicine tonight. The vet said he is eating better. He looked way better than he did when I dropped him off. We just need his numbers to come down still.
Not too much to update on Beau today. The doctor said it normally takes a few days to see any movement in kidney numbers so this isn't a surprise. The big task today was to get Beau to eat and he finally did this evening. His kidney numbers came down very slightly and he is on anti nausea meds and appetite stimulants. His blood pressure is running very high and they are watching that. He asked the vet to pet his belly which just warmed my heart because he prefers strangers to leave him alone normally.
The house is a mess without him here. Lily and Wilbur are just besides themselves. Although Lily is the alpha of the pack, Beau is the one everyone looks up to. He's everyone's best brother and best friend. He's my baby boy and my husband's best friend and we are just a mess missing him so much. Hoping we see a big decline in kidney numbers tomorrow and maybe we can have a small sigh of relief.
I had to leave the love of my life at the vet hospital. He's not doing well and the news isn't good. His kidneys are failing. We will try and do everything the next couple of days to make him better and more comfortable and will go from there. ~Beau's mom
Beau hasn't gotten any better for days. He's gotten worse. He have a vet appointment scheduled Monday but I didn't want to wait. I am at the emergency vet with my buddy boy. The veterinarian also has a former research beagle at home and promised she would take extra special care of him~Beau's mom
I haven't been feeling well. When I'm not feeling well I wrap myself around dad. It always makes me feel better. You should try it.
We got to sleep in today. That never happens 💕
Mom really did it this time. She left AGAIN and this time she took Aunt Karen. She just got back and I'm not letting her out of my sight. She's not gonna pull that again especially without me.

Normally the pack uses my cushy butt as a pillow. Well occasionally I get to use Lily's as a pillow. Hers just isn't as plump.

Ummm it's after noon so it's officially time for my afternoon walk, right? Ready to break up this 3 puppy pileup when you are!
Wilbur's kind enough to snuggle since mom's away climbing Mt. Whitney. She knows how much I love hikes! So I'm having guy time with my boy Wilbs of Wilbur & Orville, the Wright Brothers of Beagle Freedom Project to help me miss her less.

Beauregard here, checking in to say how disappointed I am that mom didn't get pig ears mailed this time. Wilbur could've helped me stash them around the house this time...
I'm hearing mom and dad are on vacation without me again. Time to pout and see if aunt Karen feels bad enough to give me extra treats, snuggles, and walks to make up for it.
Sorry for being quiet. We've had a rough week around here. Remnants of hurricane Ida came through and flooded our area pretty bad. We were pretty lucky because our sump pump kept working but I cannot say the same for our community. I also feel bad for mom because she had to deal with 3 dogs who were quite rambunctious because we couldn't get any walks in the storm. We are all ok and now fully walked.
Awe man. Car rides should lead to someplace fun not to baths. At least mom is happy we smell like coconut and lime.
