❤ Mary ❤

Mary is a young female Border Collie mix. She is shy with people at first but will warm up to you after a bit. She looks a bit sad here but wouldnt you be too? In a noisy place she doesnt understand, a lot of people she doesnt know and stuck in a kennel for almost all of her time.
Mary did seek out attention from the shelter staff that sees her every day but was more cautious with another volunteer and I. She so wants to trust people. She just needs the right person to see her and let her be the carefree lovable pup she can be.

❤ Morocco ❤

Morocco is a Male lab mix. Already neutered and his adoption fee is already sponsored. .

If you come to see him, give him a few minutes to settle in with you and you will see the truest version of him. He loves people and attention and loves to lean into you. He takes treats pretty gently and will sit for them as you see here.
Morocco is a wonderful dog. Shelter life is just so tough on the bigger dogs that dont get the chance to stretch their long legs as much and just enjoy being a dog. He showed interest in the cats in the cat room but no agression so I'd call that inconclusive. He just needs his chance to shine and shine he will if he is given that chance.

❤ Carroll❤

Carroll is a female Malinois mix. She loooooves water, she was playing in it before I came into the yard.
She is very affectionate. Not the best angle to see, but she is leaning into me a bit here, very cuddly dog, loves attention and being close to her person.
She would be an excellent family dog. She is good with other dogs. Unknown on cats but can be cat tested at the shelter. Please share if you can.

❤ Sherlock❤

This is Sherlock, listed as a German Shepherd mix. Here enjoying some silly time 😂 He did this several times during our visit. Good with people but very playful too, he is an adult dog that would love to have a family of his own.
Sherlock seems very smart, typical of the Shepherds. A little premature grey on his muzzle gives him a distinguished appearance.
I quite enjoyed my time with him. Please share if you can to give him his best chance at adoption.

❤ Tally is a female Border Collie mix. Here she is soaking up some attention from a fellow volunteer.

She is very sweet and good natured and corrects easily. Does great with other dogs is just a nicely balanced dog. Unknown on cats but I can test the next time I'm at the shelter if anybody is interested.

In the past I would have been 100 % confident about her adoption chances but we dont have that luxury anymore. So we network and share and do our best, then hope for the best. Please share if you can please.

💔 This one was heartbreaking for me 💔Darby is a senior female pit bull terrier mix and like Lyle last week, she is another dog that came to the shelter in terrible shape. She is about 8-10 years old and may not have had the best care. This sweet senior girl deserves a comfortable home and couch and proper care to make the most of her time.

Darby is absolutely sweet and lovable and gentle with people. Good with other dogs and I can test with cats if anybody has an interest in her. She really needs the right person to see her. Seniors are among our toughest adoptions so please share if you can.

Darby needs to put on some weight and get her skin healthy. She is not spayed so if anybody is interested in donating towards her adoption fee, please contact the shelter at 530 527 3439. Or I'd be happy to pick up any local donations to leave with the shelter towards her adoption.

I've volunteered almost 11 years now but it still leaves me shook to see the condition in which some of the dogs arrive and that was the case today. She deserves so much better of a hand than she has been dealt in life. So many want puppies, designer dogs and I get the reasoning on the puppies but it makes it so tough on the dogs like Darby who might not win any conventional beauty contests but have the most beautiful souls and that makes them beautiful on the outside too for those who are willing to take time for them.

❤ Sirius is an adult Male Border Collie mix. Very good natured. He has a nice balanced disposition. He will chase most things you throw and seems like he enjoys playing fetch.
Good with other dogs. Unknown on cats but I can test him if anybody is interested.

❤ Incoming cuteness alert ! This is Mango. Young female German Shepherd mix.
Mango checks a lot of the right boxes. Good with other dogs and got a great review in her weekend in a foster. Just a little older than a puppy, she does listen and could learn anything you need her to know.

Please share if you can. Any dog out is a potential 2 lives saved. I enjoyed my time with this playful pup. She deserves a family and home of her own.

❤ Freddie is a Male Husky/Shepherd mix. Already neutered so that lowers his adoption fee.
Freddie is one of the longest residents of the shelter through no fault of his own. The shelter has been flooded with Huskies and Shepherds and a quite a few mixes of the two breeds so sadly many great dogs are being overlooked.

He has been an ideal citizen during his stay but shelter life is so tough on the bigger, long legged dogs so we do need to find him a home as soon as we can. Good with other dogs, unknown on cats. Loves to play and chase anything thrown his way. Has the crystal blue eyes Huskies are known for and should fill out and get a nice shine back to his coat if we can find him a home.

Please share if you can. The influx of dogs is not letting up and in fact is worsening. Fostering, adopting, volunteering, anything helps.

❤Jade's Day Out❤

Jade is a female Akita/Border Collie mix. She has been at the shelter several months now. While she is a staff and volunteer favorite due to her easygoing and sweet personality, we do need to find her a home before all that time in the shelter starts to add up on her. These pics and vid are from a recent trip we made to the park.
She can be leery of cars and she was that day but with proper training she can get past that. She walks very nicely on leash and is pretty easy to manage. I mentioned to a volunteer the other day the other day that she looks a bit bigger than she actually is with her thick coat. She is about 70 lb, so shes not small but not huge either. Enjoys attention and loves people. Cats not recommended.
Jade has been a model citizen in her time at the shelter. Gets along well with other dogs, pretty even disposition. Please share if you can, she needs to find a home and soon.

Well behaved, maybe a bit wound up when you first get her out but she does settle in nicely.

❤Blueberry is a female Anatolian mix. Good with other dogs and tested neutral with cats when I took her in the cat room.
She is from a livestock guardian breed but she seems like she would be a great companion.
Super sweet disposition and loves attention and snacks. Gentle with people and and seems quite cuddly.

❤ Malcolm is an adult Male Border Collie/Lab mix. Absolutely lovable, he is quite the smuggler and enjoys giving standing hugs. He is not rough about it at all.
He is good with other dogs, seems to have a submissive personality. Just a wonderful disposition, he checks a lot of boxes as and would be a great family dog. I took him to the cat room and there was some mild interest but no aggression.

❤ Rudy is an adult Male German Shepherd mix. Very well behaved and seems alert and intelligent as you would expect from a German Shepherd.
I found him very gentle with people. He is very affectionate and I'm sure would be very loyal. Good with other dogs. He is listed at about 6 years old. He should be in a home being the best boy he can be but hes at the shelter instead. Let's help to find him a home and a family of his own. ❤

❤ Mariah is a female Husky mix. This ones pretty adorable, she just loved head scratches and leans into them. Very sweet and affectionate dog.
Very pretty markings too with crystal blue eyes that I hope you get a look at here.

❤ Ellen is a female Australian Shepherd mix. Just a fun medium sized dog with one of the best doggie smiles you will ever see.
She does well with other dogs. Just an endearing girl who seems like she wants to be everybodys friend, even if a bit shy at times.

❤ Hemingway is listed as a Lab/Mastiff mix. He is a little cautious, likes to get attention when hes ready for it like the belly scratches he gets here.
He is a large dog but is gentle with people. A little shy about the leash, but once on it hes pretty easy to walk.
Does well with other dogs. I have not tested him yet with cats. He will need somebody that can work with him and gain his trust. I'd best describe him as cautious but loving. ❤

❤Alaska is a female Hound/pit bull terrier mix. You see here her adorable playful side. Shes a zoomie girl and she will leave you smiling just watching her play. She loves other dogs and loves to play with them too. Unfortunately she was beat up and has a couple marks on her but she hasnt let that dim her spirits.
She is also very affectionate with people. Loves attention and being close to her person when shes inside or done playing.
Alaska needs to gain a few pounds but with some help, we can get her a home where she can do just that. She is a joy to be around and I think she will charm anyone that comes to see her ❤

❤Zephyr is a young female Shepherd mix. Very unique markings. Very lovable but can be a little shy. Loves people and is great with other dogs.
Zephyr has been in the shelter for a bit and while she has been a model citizen, she needs to find a home before the stress adds up on him.
She corrects easily and seems like she would be happy to stay right by your side. There is probably a playful side too, she just needs room to blossom. ❤

❤ Blake is a Male cattle dog mix and he is great in just about every way. Loves people and is good with other dogs. Very cuddly and spent most of our visit showing how affectionate and sweet he is. He may put his paws on you but he just wants to be close and is very gentle about it.
Good with other dogs and seemed pretty neutral about cats. Super soft coat and is pretty snuggly and cuddly. One of those dogs I just cringe taking him back to the kennel because he very much deserves a family and home of his own. He could not have been easier to spend time with ❤

❤ Arnold's day out. Already neutered, low adoption fee 🐶
Arnold is one of the longer residents of the shelter and is urgent. We need to find him a home or at least a foster. He has done well at the shelter, good with other dogs but it's tough for the black dogs in the shelter, sometimes they are overlooked.
I took him to a park first. I wanted to walk him but he just wanted to stay close to me. It was honestly heartbreaking. It felt like he was afraid of being abandoned again.
He rides well in the car and mostly stays seated and down. I left the window open so he could take a peak out but he just stayed seated.
I took him to Home Depot and he did well. Made a couple new friends and took some treats, gently I thought. We walked around the garden section for a bit and he enjoyed sniffing around. It all seemed so new to him.
I took him back to the shelter and into the cat room. He was curious about the cats but not aggressive. He just needs his chance to show what a good boy he could be.

❤ Maddox is a Male Pit bull terrier mix. What you see here is a pretty good look at his personality. Mellow temperament, gentle with people and just a great medium sized dog, 45 lb or so, who would fit in well in a lot of families.
Very easy to leash. No rough stuff and mostly just wanted to enjoy the sun and attention. Does play a bit too but then he heads back to be with his person.
He is quiet in his kennel and that might cause him to be overlooked but that would be missing out on a wonderful friend and companion. ❤

❤ Wordsworth is a Male German Shepherd. As his name would suggest, he is a gentleman of a dog. Super gentle and loves attention.
Handsome fellow with a very unique look. Stocky, shorter legs , he is about 70 lb.
I found him incredibly easy to spend time with. Walked nicely on the leash from his kennel. Good with other dogs and obviously great with people. ❤

❤ Rambo is male Malinois/Belgian Tervuren mix. He seems very intelligent and will need an owner that can keep him entertained and focused. He is happy to learn and listens well as you see here.
As for his social side, he is good with other dogs and loves people. Needs an occasional reminder of manners in his enthusiasm but he does correct well when you do so.
Very handsome markings and he is quite a looker. There is a lot to like about him. Give him a chance if you can. He can be your friend for all his long life ahead. ❤
