WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP win for Colonel Smokey and I!
It was a very tough course (mostly set to max allowed height), literally eliminating half of the competition. We drew first in the order, which is always the most difficult spot but gives you the advantage to set the pace (advantageous on a fast horse like Colonel). Colonel rode well, very forward with two poles down. Excellent inside turns with only one bobble to the skinny fence ( #9), which he left up. We were the fastest time by 21 seconds to the Reserve Champion, 24 seconds to 3rd place.
I’ve won 2 previous World Championships in the Youth and Amateur, but this is my first Open win. Proud of him 🙂
