Icelantic Sheepdog AKC Scent Work trials September 26-27-28. Ruth Hurst and I (Donna Knudson)went Saturday and Sunday. Dash and Rosebud did amazing for their first AKC scent trial. Lots of ribbons and some titles earned!

Dog mistakes real skunk for toy, cuddles it for three days. Before leaving on vacation, the man finally tossed out his dog’s old skunk toy. It had been his pup’s favorite for years, carried everywhere until it was ripped to shreds. He felt a little guilty throwing it away, but figured the dog would move on.

Three days later, while still out of town, his phone rang. It was the dog watcher. She said his dog’s “skunk toy” smelled so bad she wanted permission to wash it. The man froze he knew that wasn’t possible.

He pulled up the cameras, and the truth left him speechless. His dog hadn’t found a new toy at all. He had caught a real skunk, and the two had been cuddling together for days. The watcher quickly called animal control, who came to safely collect the skunk and take it to a rehab center since it hadn’t eaten.

When the man got home, he immediately bought his dog a brand new skunk toy. Asked about it later, he laughed: “Things are better now, but the funny part is he keeps bringing me the new toy like it’s broken and needs fixing.”

Bighorn Kennel Club’s Story

Bighorn Kennel Club is for all who enjoy dogs; be they purebred or mixed breed. Join our club for fun and games and we will help each other train. We have free fun nights for members through the summer with a course set up to play with your dog and group dog walks on Sunday evenings. Bighorn Kennel Club holds obedience classes from beginning to intermediate and Star Puppy Classes. The Club also holds a few Fun Matches each year, Ratting, Rally, and Mini Agility. We also have an AKC certified CGC Evaluator (Canine Good Citizen) who will be doing some CGC classes and testing along with a trick workshop and AKC Trick Tests, either late this fall or early spring of 2019.
