‼️KVS will be closed Sept 6-Sept 20. I will be out of state and unable to respond to any texts, emails or calls while away. I will respond to everything once I'm back in an area with service.
If your pet needs any medications refilled prior to me leaving please text me ASAP. I have reached out to almost all my owners that have pets with chronic meds, but if I missed you please let me know!
Should you need to be seen for something minor while I am gone, Dr. Lammers at Gavin's Point Vet Services in Crofton has agreed to see my patients.
Should you have an emergency while I'm gone, please contact All City Pet Care Emergency Hospital in Sioux Falls @ 605-335-4004.
If your pet needs to be seen for anything before I leave, I still have availability this week to schedule some appointments!‼️

WHO & WHY!?
Hello, I am Dr. Laura Kleinschmit
I am from Columbus, NE, but spent many summers with extended family from Crofton at Lewis & Clark Lake. I graduated with my Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Iowa State University in 2016. My husband is from the St. Helena, NE area and runs a business out of Yankton, so it was a no brainer to move back to this area after graduation. I went on to work in private practice in the area for 2 years. For the last year, I have traveled around South Dakota doing locum veterinary work. It has been a great experience and has broadened my knowledge getting to work with so many great colleagues. My husband and I have two little girls which make life crazy and exciting!
I am excited to get to help care for your wonderful pets in a setting that is comfortable to them!
How did KVS come to be?
There were many instances while I was in general practice where a client had expressed to me their desire for a vet to be able to come to their house instead of having to come into the clinic. Whether their reasoning was because they had multiple animals and it was hard to get them in at once, their pet was very anxious/nervous at the clinic, they had time constraints, or they simply wanted to be in the comfort of their own home, it was apparent that there was a need!
So after I decided to leave general practice, I decided I wanted to start an in-home practice focusing on preventative medicine and end of life care as these are the two areas of general practice I really enjoyed!
