NogginTheChi has Hydrocephalus and will continue their mission to Entertain & Inspire! *Grimmy passed away 12.31.15, she gave us 2 amazing years.*
Grimmy came to live w/us Nov. 2013 after spending 2 weeks being lovingly cared for at our local shelter. From the onset it was apparent she was unique but none of my veterinarians had ever seen anyone like her. She's been estimated to be between 6 - 8
years old but that may be way off now we know the reason behind her deformities. Grimmy is getting the best of both conventional and holistic medical care. We've made tremendous progress simply through proper nutrition. She's never given any indication of being in pain. Her attitude is Minpin through and through! Had a long talk w/Grimmy's doctor, Dr. Beth at Animal Hospital of Lake Mary. We decided doing the actual genetic testing of Grimm to see if she has Mucopolysaccharidosis VI is not necessary. Now we know this disease exists, she's clinically diagnosed her as having it. If we knew who actually bred Grimm it would be necessary to do the DNA test, so as to stop the line. But our girl was a stray at Seminole County Animal Services, picked up in Sanford, FL. No realistic way to find her parents. The more pressing matter was to get her scheduled for an Echocardiogram. We needed to see if heart damage had already begun. We are THRILLED to report, her heart is completely NORMAL! All the vets were amazed. Her other organs show to be functioning normally w/the blood work already done. There is no known treatment for this disease. Every website says the prognosis is bad. Most dogs afflicted do not live. Our Grimmy lives! We will continue to make sure she has an excellent quality of life and right now she does. Our hope with this page is to inspire, educate and entertain. ~ Grimmy, Kathleen & Scottie
