Look who is feeling better after a day at the vet getting IV fluids and antibiotics. Jolie is asking/telling me to hurry up and get her dinner! 😍
Hi everybody. It's me, Evelyn. Thanks for your prayers last night. I'm doing better this morning as you can see. Mama is letting me post to tell you not to worry or count me out yet. I've got a lot of energy and am nowhere ready to leave here yet.
XO,
Evelyn
Sorry (not sorry) for talking with my mouth full. Mama is so excited that I ate three times today that she wanted me to share...
Mama says I ate close to 1 1/2 big cans of food and about two dozen Charlee Bear grain free treats (that she broke up into little pieces for me). She is hoping that I keep eating like a little pig.
Have a good night everyone.
XO,
Cami
Cami update: Cami has been eating the same food and a good quantity for a few days now :-)
Cami is making progress
Cami ate a decent dinner and is now playing with an elk antler. Thanks for all of your prayers and kind words!
Sugar is on the couch, McGee is next to Cami, Wendi is behind McGee, and Marcia is in front of Cami.
Warning: If you have dogs, mute before you play the video. (I forgot to do that before I played it and it took five minutes to quiet down the dogs and they were listening to themselves 😆)
Lonnie eats in the laundry room to the right. He prefers to go in by himself... The funniest part is that he is pretty low key the rest of the time.
Have a good night everyone.
This is the morning ritual with Elf the cat and Charlee the Yorkie.
Jack’s walking
Jack is making a lot of progress. He only fell over twice and was walking around for about 5-10 minutes. He’s a little lopsided because he just got his daily dose of fluids, which made him a little bit more unsteady. He can now get in and out of his little bed in the family room by himself.❤️
PS. If you’re seeing captions, I have nothing to do with them and I don’t know how to stop them.
Our newest resident, McGee is adjusting well. He is one happy boy. I was out with the three dogs and saw McGee on the other side of the enclosure. He wags his tail with joy a lot. He is at the "sniff my finger" stage but isn't thrilled about being pet yet.
Behind McGee is Bethany, the second newest resident. She has made herself at home, has found her voice and loves being pet.
Both of them are at the door to greet me whenever I get back from running an errand.
...and yes I did pick up the poop in the background soon after the video
I finally got a video of Charlee playing with Elf the cat. Elf let me know when he had enough. I watch them carefully whenever they are together and I remove Charlee when Elf has had enough.
Thanks Mindy Gasparek for all of your help today with grooming and for shooting this wonderful video.
Our cat Elf lives in the master bathroom. It has a HUGE closet that has been converted to his apartment. He gets visits regularly and does have the option of coming into the rest of the house when he wants... he is not neglected.
Charlee and Kloee are smitten with Elf. Every time I go into the gated bathroom, they run in there to find Elf. Luckily Elf is patient with them (just sniffs them). Once held next to Elf, the dogs loose there Napoleon complex and are ready to leave the bathroom.
Thunder and lightning and hail oh my. Bad enough in the daytime but it went on for much of the night. Sleep is over-rated. I feel like I am living back in Indiana as we have had so much rain this spring. The glass half full is that we can use the moisture. The glass half empty...
There are a number of dogs who don't like the rain and noise at all and a few more that are down right terrified. A few of the dogs don't hear as well as they did last year so the storms don't bother them as much.
Zack and Lilly (two of the chihuahuas) win the prize for being the most affected by the storm. Last night we had heavy rain, thunder (really loud at times), lightning, and hail. Jack sleeps on the bed right next to my head and his bark is LOUD. Lilly knows I will keep her safe and made herself at home at my side between Alf and my chin. Jack, all five pounds of him was walking on my head, pillow and anywhere else he could be close.
When it rains heavily, Kenny gets so nervous that he goes outside and just cowers until I bring him inside (he doesn't like to be held but he lets me have him sit on my lap as I dry him with a towel). Consequently, I close the doggie door to the outside when it rains like this. Consequently... extra piddle pads and poop bags available throughout the house.
It is not all fun and games but I am glad that I am giving our residents a safe place to take refuge from the storms. I think many of them realize this and appreciate knowing they are safe and warm.
Small Senior Paws Retirement Village would not be able to do what we do without your support. We are forever grateful. Thank you.
I know it is dark and blurry but I am so excited to share...
Our newest resident, Amanda, who was very shy when she arrived is learning how to enjoy being a dog.
Here she is playing with a toy 🥰🥳🤩
Well, I caved. After testing a few of the dogs one at a time in the laundry room with Magic and me, I decided to let Magic AKA??? out of the laundry room. She is getting along fine with the other dogs and is now doing laps in the sun room. (Yes I picked up the poop right after I took the video.) She has a cute bounce to her step. Her right ear and butt are a caramel color. The rest of her is white.
So far so good. (The other dogs in the video in order of appearance are Kenny, Sami, and Libby.)
Silas is feeling better. This morning he let me know he wanted to go outside... He is even starting to wag his tail. I'm so glad he is feeling better.
