Happy Thursday, Friends! Wilbur here.... I'm hoping that I get to go home soon, but I gave everyone a pretty big scare today..... I don't want to get caught on here, when I'm supposed to be resting, so I'll just share my mom's language from her post to update you all.... Thanks for thinking of me and keeping me in your prayers.... Until next time.... 💙🐽💙🐽
Momma's Words:
Wilbur gave us all quite the scare today. He isn't out of the woods yet but the doctors are optimistic that he is going to pull through this. After he seemed to have lost function of his back end, it was very concerning. Praise God though, his CT Scan was clear! However, his labs did show that his CK levels are pretty high. CK is a protein released from muscle and the main problem it causes is kidney damage, so that's the thing to keep an eye on. They placed an IV catheter in Wilbur's jugular vein so they have easier and direct access to get him hydrated (which is very crucial right now), and also so that they can help keep him comfortable with medication, as well as be able to do lab draws quickly and easily (this is very important as they will continue to check his Creatinine levels and monitor his kidney function). The CK levels should drop quickly as long as his kidney function continues to remain stable and he stays hydrated.
Wilbur woke up while hubby and I were in his stall and I was able to feed him watermelon and bananas that we had brought. That was a promising thing to see also.
Things can always take a turn for the worse so please just keep praying. I am trying to stay positive. I thank God first and foremost, and I also thank all of you for your thoughts and prayers. My husband and I are both blessed to have employers who are understanding and care!! I have received multiple texts from coworkers and even 2 of my bosses today who were worried sick about Wilbur. I talk about him and share so many photos constantly that he has almost become the company mascot with main employer, as well as my primary client.
Lastly, but DEFINITELY not least, I can never thank the staff at Purdue for everything they have done and are still doing..... There are a lot of people in this world who do their job and do it well, but then there are those who go above and beyond that. Dr. Hawkins is a total Class Act, and I'm not sure how to spell the resident's last name who works with him... It's something like "Osemeke".... Dr. Osemeke... But she is a class act as well. Everyone we have encountered there have been absolutely amazing. They care about our boy and they also have been beyond patient and wonderful with his worried momma's many questions. I will never be able to say enough positive words about this place.
We are about halfway through the 3.5 hour trip back home now and I'm thanking God for the many blessings in my life.... and especially tonight for helping our piggy boy today. I will continue to pray hard that Wilbur heals and is home soon to continue to live out his very best life! 💙🐽🙏🐷🐖💙
