ood allergies and can only eat certain foods and treats. So I decided to make one of his favorite treats myself. The most affordable sweet potato chews are from China and anything from China – for dogs – has become an issue. In my research I found other USA based companies that make the same treats but are more expensive. So I decided to make my more affordable and also benefit two very important nonprofit groups – Capital K-9 Association and Vet-I-Care. The choice is up to the person purchasing the treats. My love of Police Working Dogs started as a child riding the trains to and from NYC and Philadelphia. I would always make my mom sit close to the dogs. I would talk to the dogs the whole trip and was even allowed to pet some of them. One of my best friends is a K-9 officer and his first dog formed an instant bond with Tatianna. When he lost his battle with cancer, she was devastated. Right before he got his second dog, I found out about CK9A. When I told Tatianna about CK9A, her first words were “I want to have fundraiser for them”. Well this started over a year ago and we continue to try to raise money for CK9A. We met Officer Mike and the rest is history. Raleigh also loves police officers, especially K9 officers. He even has one that is his best friend. He knows the K9 truck and gets so excited every time he sees it. He will even try to jump in the window to say hi to him. Raleigh knows his dog is in the back of the truck too and will cry for him. Vet-I-Care has helped me with out with Raleigh’s emergency, life saving surgery for a blockage in his intestine. Without their help I would have not been able to afford the surgery. Vet-I-Care works directly with Northstar Vets and will even work with other vets if they will accept their assistance. Now back to the treats! The chews are dehydrated sweet potatoes (orange and white sweet potatoes) and nothing else! The chips are baked sweet potatoes (orange and white) coated with olive oil and sprinkled with cinnamon! It is best to keep them in the refrigerator. They can be kept for 4 months in the refrigerator and 6 months in the freezer. The potatoes are from a local farmer that has been at the Trenton Farmers Market for over 30 years. I am going to sell two pound bags for $25.00. $5 will go to CK9A or Vet-I-Care. I will put one pound of Raleigh’s Favorite Chews and one pound of Raleigh’s Favorite Chips in each order. Unless otherwise requested. I will even ship orders but the shipping will be extra.
