🌍💊 World TB Day 💊🌍
Did you know that tuberculosis (TB) doesn’t just affect humans, but chimpanzees too? TB can be transmitted from humans to chimpanzees and from chimpanzees to humans, which is why it’s vital to take precautions to protect both species.
How is TB spread?
TB is a bacterial infection that spreads through the air when an infected individual coughs, sneezes, or even speaks. In sanctuaries like Chimp Eden, strict health protocols are followed to minimize any risk of transmission between humans and chimpanzees.
While TB can be a serious illness, it is not a death sentence. With the right diagnosis and medication, TB can be treated and cured. This is why early detection and proper medical care are crucial for both humans and animals.
On World TB Day, we want to raise awareness about this disease and the importance of protecting chimpanzees from illnesses that humans can pass on to them. Let’s work together to create a healthier, safer world for all species.
