🌍💊 World TB Day 💊🌍

Did you know that tuberculosis (TB) doesn’t just affect humans, but chimpanzees too? TB can be transmitted from humans to chimpanzees and from chimpanzees to humans, which is why it’s vital to take precautions to protect both species.

How is TB spread?
TB is a bacterial infection that spreads through the air when an infected individual coughs, sneezes, or even speaks. In sanctuaries like Chimp Eden, strict health protocols are followed to minimize any risk of transmission between humans and chimpanzees.

While TB can be a serious illness, it is not a death sentence. With the right diagnosis and medication, TB can be treated and cured. This is why early detection and proper medical care are crucial for both humans and animals.

On World TB Day, we want to raise awareness about this disease and the importance of protecting chimpanzees from illnesses that humans can pass on to them. Let’s work together to create a healthier, safer world for all species.

Ellie’s Vet Bill - £3733.02 – Can You Help? 🙏🏼🙏🏼

Earlier this year we told you about little Ellie’s journey —arriving as a very nervous pony at Hope Pastures in need of care.

When Ellie became seriously ill, she needed urgent help. We thought at the time she was pregnant but she became lethargic, refusing food, and was clearly in discomfort. We rushed her to Rainbow Equine Hospital where she received round-the-clock care, emergency fluids, and scans to find out what was wrong. It was a worrying time, but she pulled through thanks to the fantastic team at Rainbow and the support of everyone who cares for Ellie❤️

She’s now back home, out in the field with her best friends Bernie and Penny, enjoying life again. But her treatment has left us with a **£3733.02 vet bill**. As a small charity, unexpected costs like this have a huge impact, but we will always do what’s needed to help ponies like Ellie.

If you’d like to support Ellie, any donation—big or small—will help cover her care and make sure we can be there for the next pony who needs us.

Ellie is safe, happy, and back where she belongs. Thank you for being part of her journey. đź’›

Did you know:
If you have a pacemaker, you can put it in your Will to have your pacemaker donated to a dog in need after you pass. Pacemakers cannot be donated to another human, but they can be donated to dogs with cardiac issues who would depend on it to stay alive.
You can have the pacemaker brought to a vet of your choice. So many of those get thrown away and dogs die because people don't know they can do this. It even saves the dog's owner the cost of the actual pacemaker which sometimes means the difference in being able to afford lifesaving treatment or not.
