Jamberoo Mountain Farm Jamberoo Mountain Farm is an ethical and sustainable producer of pasture raised eggs and beef in the misty mountains of Robertson

Jamberoo Mountain Farm is an ethical and sustainable producer of pasture-raised premium quality beef and eggs. Located at the peak of the Southern Highlands town of Robertson, the family-run farm is the passion project of former city dwellers Lachlan and Nicole Feggans and their two ‘little farm hands’ Ellie & Jack. Before ditching the corporate world for a tree change, Lachy and Nicole spent year

s observing and studying sustainable farming practices from around the globe. Their dream had always been to adapt and implement what they had learnt to the local environment. And when they set food onto the green pastures and rich red basalt soil of Jamberoo Mountain Farm, they knew they’d found their perfect match. Jamberoo Mountain Farm utilises a rotational farming system that uses the natural grazing habits of their animals to fertilise and regenerate the pastures. It's this artisan approach to farming that produces top-quality food from their paddock to your plate with a difference you can taste.

Chickens for Christmas!

I have some lovely 🐓🐓🐓🐓🐓🐓🐓🐓 to rehome and looking for good homes.

Must be ok with chickens pecking your feet as they are a friendly bunch. Just on 16 months of age and still laying many golden eggs, we just need to make room for the new.

•$10 each
•5 for $40
•10 for $60

Pick up between Christmas and New Years from our farm in Robertson.

Bring a crate or box to take them home in.

Please DM with how many you would like and I’ll set a date / time to collect🐓💛

Chickens, chickens everywhere…

These are the furthest away girls who are soon to be joined by another caravan to run side by side.
A huge part of the job is ensuring we don’t overgraze so there’s a lotta moving and manoeuvring to ensure no over-saturating with chicken p**p as there’s a lot with 1800 x 🐓 roaming.

We welcomed a new crew this morning too who are currently locked up tight tonight. It’s chicken stations go everywhere all over the farm as we gear up for a nice summer flow of eggs. Quick pause to admire as they do look rather pretty in that late light💫

Chickens slowly on the move getting closer to our house before we turn them around. These are our newest girls who have started laying on point and I have this theory it’s because they feel happy being close to our house🏡

The dots of white clover across the farm today really shining bright with deliciousness for the chickens & cows to come, with some extra rain coming they should bounce☘️

After a big weekend of farm hopping with friends, so nice to relax in the sunshine this afternoon and watch the animals roam and take all the beauty in💛

Eggs back on the road tomorrow to restock those shelves!

You might remember about 7 months ago Chilli came to interview me in her quest to become a regen farmer and buy her own farm one day. Chilli has continued her journey with regen farming by interviewing some amazing farmers for her YouTube channel and learnt a lot along the way!

Visiting some of the best in the business including Charlie Arnott , Laura at Feather and Bone and Matthew Evans in Tassie

Chilli and her family then moved to Tasmania, on a 1/2 acre property, and have hatched some heritage chickens, black australorps and light sussex, with 2 milking goats for some fresh raw milk to come shortly.

Currently, Chilli and her very supportive Dad are on a Mainland trip, interviewing lots more amazing regenerative farmers. Such as, Paola at Tall Poppy Farm, Jake at Wolki Farm, Jade and Charlie at Black Barn Farm, Heath and Amanda at Caluga Farm, Jimmy at Jimmy’s Milk, Erin at Kylie’s Run and she came back to check in with my lucky self today.

I love that Chilli is 110% on the right track learning the right way to farm, what an incredible learning journey at such a young age👏 So inspirational to see this strong commitment to regenerative farming and I really can’t wait to see what else is to come.

Follow and be inspired by her passion, we need more of you in the world💚

Tonight using the last light to enjoy the vista which includes our newest chickens and cattle crew in full view. Love when the rotations of both animals collide most perfectly and you can see their magic working.

Chickens slowly follow the cows in a green circle life. With a little help from the farmers to time that right💚

SPRING FLING🌼

There were huge bursting moments today from spring cleaning the house followed by all the farming stuff all at once!

Ending by a swim, fire, cheese plate, champagne and chats as the sunset over the range by the dam. Not always this perfect but feels pretty sweet when it is💛

Excited to be part of this conversation💚

Sunday is my fav day for collecting eggs. Ellie (my daughter) and I collect together taking turns of rolling the eggs in, placing them in trays and walking them back to the buggy and then the shed. Sunday is the only day I don’t process and pack so I actually get a little break, we save that until Monday morning and have a double day of packing eggs and deliveries with my mum on board to ease the load.

I love that we don’t rush, we collect the eggs when we like, enjoy hanging out with the chicks, take a few pics, stop by the dam, pat the calves and take all the big green in. The promise of Spring - growth, abundance, deck hangs, swims and less layering feels pretty sweet too💛

Love that my daughter and my mum are my biggest support crew in life and just get when two sets of hands are better than one🥰

Freezing but oh so beautiful that last light tonight. Nearly missed the opportunity to go on last farm rounds as the house jobs were calling. However so glad as we got to check on the calves, Jack enjoyed a bike ride whilst all admiring the beauty of the chickens roaming now the wind has settled. Our dog Marley is in the pic lying on the grass taking it all in too. The beauty of the farm can be quite magical on nights like this💚

Eggs are my daily ritual. Not a day goes by without collecting the eggs, processing and packing and then delivering to our loved customers, actually the best part of my job is delivering and chatting to the chefs and grocers.

I snapped this delivery yesterday in the sunshine as I am always admiring and ensuring they are packed perfectly so you can enjoy opening them in your home.

Happy Saturday and hope you are enjoying some eggs this morning. We had friends staying overnight with many rounds of scrambled eggs on bread enjoyed with coffee this morning💛

These sunsets are making me so happy💛

What a beautiful end to the day when you see the farm humming in harmony.

Today our newest hens (22 weeks and counting) laid 2 eggs. 2 out of 450 replied Jack “Mummy are you crazy, that’s not very good?” Whilst yes, there’s still 448 🥚’s to go, it’s a start I responded. Those 2 eggs made me so happy this morning, literally jumping for joy and sharing the good news with whoever would listen, as once they start they all soon follow🐓🐓🥚🥚

To my customers, friends and family who have been listening to my story about hens not laying, I thought this might make you happy as you won’t have to listen to me complaining for much longer, I hope!

May they continue with speed & abundance🙏

So grateful for the Sunday sun today and getting things done, that light at the end of the tunnel💛

All chicks back roaming on fresh grass with no muddy feet☑️

The temps have dropped but looking like a clear week ahead. A good reminder for all us chicken owners to keep up a high protein feed to keep hens laying over Winter, constant access to a layer feed and water for them to lay eggs is key.

We are trialling a supplement feed which is super rich in protein and fat to give these girls an extra boost, as they desperately need it heading towards the shortest day and cooler times. We have seen an increase in our egg lay rate and shell quality so far and will report back with finer details at the end of our 4 week trial. These guys are doing some incredible work to manage food waste whilst benefiting our chooks too🪰🐛♻️
