Venice is one of the most popular destinations in Europe but staying in the city can be overwhelming for a dog.
That’s why our top tip for visiting Venice with a dog, is not to stay in Venice. Instead, stay outside the city in a resort town like Jesolo and take a day trip to Venice.
We loved our stay at the Hotel Atlantico in Lido di Jesolo. The. Town of Jesolo is also home to BauBau, one of Italy’s best dog beaches.
When you are ready to visit Venice, board the dog friendly ferry in Punta Sabbioni. The fast ferry will take you to St. Mark’s Square in as little 30 minutes.
Additional ferry routes go to the neighboring islands of Murano and Burano. Though not as popular with tourists, both islands are worth a day trip of their own.

We visited Hot Sand a dog friendly glass studio
in Asbury Park, NJ.
1) 🐾The studio set up a tray of cool sand for Louie to press his paw in.
2) ✋We also added my handprint and some color pigments that I chose.
3) 🔥Then they poured molten glass into the sand mold.
4) ❄️ The glass must be left to cool slowly, and then be cleaned by the studio.
5) 📦 About 2 weeks later I received the finished glass keepsake in the mail!

How to stay in the home of a canine celebrity
Fidèle the Golden Retriever lived at a bed & breakfast in Bruges, Belgium.
Every day he would sit at a window overlooking the canal.
Seeing Fidèle lounging in his widow became a highlight on Bruges tours.
The dog was so poular that he was even featured in the film In Bruges.
Fidèle passed away in 2016, but his memory lives on in the cottage that was his home. Now you can stay there with your own dog.
Barabas B&B charges only 15 euros per night for a dog of any size. They do not allow dogs to be left in the cottage unattended. The owner also asks that pets not pee or poop in the courtyard.

Would you take your dog to one of the world’s best restaurants? I did and it was incredible!
Larry and I made a special trip to Antwerp, Belgium JUST to have lunch at the Jane.
The Jane has multiple Michelin ⭐️⭐️ and is ranked #36 on “The World’s 50 Best Restaurants” list. Amazingly enough, it is also dog friendly!
Small dogs (15lbs max) are welcome at the Jane in Antwerp. The management just asks for advance notice so they can assign an appropriate table.
We had a comfortable table with a little extra space on the banquette where Larry could stretch out. The staff also brought him a bowl of water in case he got thirsty.
He sat quietly through all four hours of the set meal. It went by surprisingly quickly due to the excellent service and chilled out atmosphere.
The Jane is located in the chapel of a former military hospital. Now a temple to gastronomy, it features modern stained glass windows designed by Piet Boon.
I don’t consider myself a foodie, but I enjoyed every single dish of Chef Nick Bril’s tasting menu. The dishes were primarily seafood based with ingredients sourced from the finest local producers.
The staff presented every course with artistry and clear explanations of the complex ingredients. I appreciated that they did this without ever making me feel intimidated.
