Abbey, the baby orphaned shortly after birth I AM ABBEY, & MY MOMMY DIED SHORTLY AFTER I WAS BORN. WHEN MY HUMAN MOMMY & DADDY FOUND ME THEY KNEW I NEEDED SPECIAL CARE. I AM HAPPY & SO LOVED ! We both did.

This page is to show that all fur babies should have a chance at life, no matter the circumstances . We found Abbey by chance, or I would rather say by help from God. I was so depressed after my baby, Sandy died that I couldn't think about anything else . Getting another dog wasn't an option, or so I thought. I would spend lots of my free time just looking at pictures of dogs on the Internet that

looked like her. One Sunday, I came upon a website by accident that was from a lady right here in the Birmingham area. I made a comment to my husband that I didn't know that anyone here showed dogs. ( I thought I was on a site for dog shows ). I saw a really cute dog & showed her to my husband. I just loved her & she was nothing like Sandy. Under the picture it said "this is abbey & she is a year old"! I just got off & cried some more, but still thought about cute little Abbey. The next day we were at work & my husband came into my office & handed me a name & phone number he had gotten from our vet . I told him No that I DID NOTwant another dog & put the number away. A little while later a customer came in & I needed something out of the drawer where that paper the name was on, & when I moved it to find him a business card, it fell on the floor & when I looked at it, is said the same name that I saw on the Internet the day before. We never mentioned the name to each other, so I knew right them I needed to at least go look at her pups. When we got there she had 2 pups in a playpen & Abbey was in there with them . I picked up each pup & then asked her about Abbey. She said that she just put her in the pen with them because she was good to keep them warm while they were away from their mom to be shown. I picked up Abbey & asked is she was available & she said she was. She was so so tiny & they were thinking about breeding her, but decided not to because the vet said she was too small. We just fell in love with her immediately & decided we wanted her. ( thank God they didn't breed her ). I asked for all her vet records so I could be sure & get her what she needed. I later found out that they had bred her Mommy at an age too old to safely have pups & had died soon after Abbey & her brother were born. I then wondered if she had gotten all the nutrition she needed & if she would need extra special care. The lady had fed her every 2 hrs with a dropper, until she could nurse from a small bottle safely. Her brother didn't survive. I knew then that I was going to be sure this precious tiny 3 pound baby had the extra special care she needed. We brought her home right then & took her straight to our vet & had her checked out. He said she was healthy, but would need tender loving care in case anything came up ! He knew we were the ones to to it . She is our heart & anything it takes to keep her healthy, she gets ! I know I am over protective with her, but I know in my heart she was a special gift from God & Sandy. This page is to show that EVEN THOUGH THE ODDS ARE NOT GOOD, with special care, a baby can grow up healthy & very happy . PLEASE GIVE ALL THESE BABIES A CHANCE, no matter what it takes. They can touch your heart more that you know & they can have the life they deserve ! THANK YOU GOD FOR OUR ABBEY !! ABBEY'S STORY
I would love to tell you all about how we came to get our sweet little Abbey !We were blessed with a beautiful little blonde chihuahua named Sandy in 1993 ! We fell instantly in love with her & made her the little girl we never had. We have two wonderful sons, but lost our baby girl before she was born. Sandy went everywhere with us even to work. We own a business so that was possible. i never even spent one night without her ! Even when we had her spayed I would NOT
leave her overnight. I took her home & then back the next day for a vet check ! Sandy was with us for a wonderful 16 years & for the most part was healthy except for the aging process that we were more than happy to deal with because we wanted her as long as we could. She lost her hearing so that was heart breaking, but we made it as easy on her as we could. Since she couldn't hear us around in the house she would be afraid so we just made sure she could always see us ! She adapted very well. She went to rainbow bridge on August 21, 2008. We were so heartbroken that we couldn't even stand to look at anyone else's dog ! I cried every day & even got hysterical a few times & screamed for her to come back. Jimmy was so worried & didn't know what to do. We had fixed her a beautiful grave site with a granite marker that has her picture & a poem I wrote etched on it, & a bench with flower pots too. He did everything possible to help me. He mentioned maybe getting another dog, & I just wouldn't even talk about it. that is when Abbey came into the picture !I was on the computer one Sunday afternoon just looking at pictures of dogs ( not trying to find one to get) but because they made me smile. I came across a cute little chihuahua & it said she was from Birmingham, AL. I thought the lady was using her for a dog show & made the comment to Jimmy that I didn't realize anyone around here showed Chihuahuas. I showed him her picture & made the comment that she was a cute dog & he agreed. He was watching TV & I was on the computer. The lady had her dogs listed as Vicky's angels ! I went on to something else & didn't think another thing about it. I went to work the next day crying as usual. Jimmy then called our vet & asked if he knew anyone had a healthy Chihuahua. He didn't tell me he was calling because he knew even the mention of another dog would upset me more. He then brought a piece of paper into the office & told me Dr Fuller ( our vet) had given him the name of a lady that has some Chi puppies. I immediately said no & put the piece of paper with her name & number in my desk drawer. A little later on that day I opened the drawer to get something else & it fell out. As I was about to throw it away, I glanced at it I saw the same name that I had seen on the internet & Jimmy & I had not discussed her name. I then said, "ok we can go look, but that's all" ! When we got there , she had 2 female tiny puppies to show us & In the playpen with them was another dog! I asked if she was their Mom & I was thinking all along that she was too small to have puppies. The lady said no, that she was a year old & she was trying to help an older lady sell her because she was too small to breed. I recognized her as the one I had seen on the internet. I picked her up & knew I could never leave her there. If they had bred this tiny girl she would have died. I brought her home with me that day & fell totally in love. I felt like I was saving her life. i later found out when I asked for her vet records so I would know something about her health that her Mommy had died when she was born & they had to dropper feed her until she was big enough to nurse from a bottle ! Our vet had told us the day after we got her that she was healthy, but I wanted to make sure that I was doing everything she needed. Since we both found her & never even knew each other had connected with the same dog & our vet did too, we knew God had sent her to us ! We believe Sandy had a hand in it too because she didn't want me to cry everyday ! Abbey is a very special Baby Girl just like her sister Sandy ! She needed someone special to love her since she got off to such a bad start & God picked us ! Thank You God for my little Angel Abbey, & thank You for letting us have Sandy for 16 years ! Also I didn't mention that Abbey had one brother born when she was but he didn't survive. Abbey's Mom was breed too old at age 5, & we just had a feeling they had kept her to breed too. We had to save her life. She is a registered Chi & we bought her, but there are more than one way to rescue & we rescued her from death probably. She was meant to be our baby & we are so blessed that God lead us to her !
