Now I'm not one to talk bad about pet stores usually. do I believe in buying stuff from a pet store, especially in the breeding business just because of genetics and everything else that can go wrong? No I don't. However I will not bad mouth because that's their business and as a business I don't like to talk bad about another business. However this post is to show that you need to expect anything when you buy from a pet store because of multiple animals being kept together or multiple animals being shipped to the store together. A friend of mine bought a female Jackson's chameleon from the pet store that she was told was 4 months old. Well the other day she came home to seven baby Jackson's chameleons in the cage with their mother. This means 1 ,since Jackson's chameleons are sexually mature around 9 to 12 months and the gestation period is 7 to 9 months that this chameleon is a lot older than what she was told and 2 was also housed with at one point or shipped with a male. Now she got in contact with me as I'm a reptile person to talk about care and stuff as chameleons have very specific care. She then made a hard but smart decision to give me the babies, To give them the best chance to live as they don't have the best survival rate, and she did not have the experience or the capabilities and supplies to take care of eight chameleons when she only paid for one especially seven five-day-old baby chameleons. And I know that decision was hard but I'm glad she made it as I already have the supply's and feeder farms and stuff to give these babies the best shot. Again this isn't bagging on pet stores this is just a PSA to pay attention when you buy an animal from anyone let alone a pet store and to remember that anything can happen.
