Itâs a Week 2 Louie update!
Little Louie was at a NC shelter and had limited options due to his discomfort with people and touch and his propensity to snap or bite when uncomfortable.
We are fostering him and are documenting the process of helping him become the optimist he doesnât know he wants to be!
Lucky Louie - Day 7 Update
Louie is a little fearful and aggressive guy we took in as a foster. Weâre documenting his transformation.
A Louie Update!
Itâs Day 3 with Louie the fearful and aggressive pup that we just rescued.
Louie -Day 1
The story of Louie, a little guy who is aggressive and fearful, who was recently taken in by the McCabes from Training Between the Ears. Sharing his transformation story.
If you are following Louieâs story, we picked him up from the shelter yesterday! It will take some time for him to be ready to go to a new home but we are thrilled to be part of his journey :-)
More Reactivity Q&As - You ask, we answer!
We are going live to answer more questions related to reactivity!
Got a reactive dog? Let's talk!
We love working with reactive dogs and the humans who love them! It is the topic we get the most questions about. Hop on and join the conversation and ask us a question!
Another boring day at the office đ€Ł
Common Question: Dog Won't Take Food When Triggered
Mark McCabe addresses a common question about dogs who refuse to take food when they see a trigger, even from a distance. He explains that while it may seem like an irresolvable problem, it is actually a challenge that can be overcome. How? Take a listen...
Understanding the "Why" of Dog Behavior (reactivity, aggression, fear, hyper-excitability)
Understanding the "Why" of Dog Behavior (reactivity, aggression, fear, hyper-excitability)
Mark McCabe addresses a common question about understanding the "why" of dog behavior. While many believe that knowing the reasons behind a dog's behavior is crucial for solving problems, he explains why it is not necessary.
Rewiring Emotions: Why Obedience Isn't the Solution
Mark McCabe discusses why obedience training is often not effective in solving behavior problems such as reactivity, aggression, and fear in dogs. He explains that these issues are driven by emotions, and obedience only addresses the outcome of the problem, not the root cause. One can actually rewire emotions and create new emotional reactions in dogs.
Don't worry, we aren't saying that you have to throw all of your dog's obedience away but rather we want to provide a different perspective on how to approach behavior problems such as reactivity, aggression, anxiety, and resource guarding.
Have a listen :-)

We love having the opportunity to answer questions about reactivity! It's normal to have questions about our upcoming course and whether it's the right fit for them. We get it! We'll be answering questions like these for the next few days.
Today we answer these three questions:
âDoes this work with a rescue who we donât know his history, but clearly he lived on the streets, may have been abused, and has resource guarding issues, including biting his owner?
âI have tried 3 different trainers and >5K in various trainers, behavioral vets, special diets, etc. When does an owner know when the dog is just unable to change?
âWe live in a busy area and do not have a place where we can keep an appropriate distance away his from triggers to practice. He needs lots of space. We can drive someplace but there is no guarantee we will see any dogs/people while we are there especially now that itâs getting dark earlier. How would that impact training? Also he has a very high prey drive and often will go over threshold with the scent of an animal.
Maia was a pet owner/guardian who had three very difficult dogs. They were all anxious - each one with their own issues and collectively, a big project - separation anxiety, confinement anxiety, resource guarding, reactivity, and aggression.
Maia shares her story of finding TBTE and how it changed not only her dogs' lives but her own.
What was the starting point for Maia? It was the Guided L1!

As registration for our new Reactivity Course winds down, we know that not everyone will be in a position to take our course â perhaps due to finances, perhaps due to timing, perhaps even due to interest. But we wanted to share some thoughts with those who are still struggling with their dogâs challenging behavior.
You may have seen our post about PREDICTION this week. We believe that changing a dogâs prediction is key to changing a dogâs behavior. What does that even mean? And how would one go about it?
In this video we delve into:
đĄWhat does prediction mean?
đĄWhy is it so important?
đĄWhat does changing a dogâs prediction look like in real life? (We share a case study)
đĄWe share some easy and actionable ideas that you can implement TODAY to begin changing your dogâs prediction of things that happen in their world.
(And btw, the registration for the reactivity course was extended for just a little while longer so you still have a little more time to jump in! The link is in the comments.)
Weâve been surrounded by puppies for the last few days! Weâve been having so much fun hosting Brittany Brauer and Bethany Tracy and their Puppy Potential Workshop. Here are just a few highlights from the past few days!
Snagged this one from our new online Level 1 course.
