Our Keeno, what a privilege to raise you from a puppy to your senior years! Keeno had the best elkhound personality, always happy-go-lucky with an ever vibrating tail... and of course a deep bark. 😆

In 2010, we drove across the border to New York to bring him home. We stayed at a quaint B&B, the owners knew we were picking up a puppy and even brought him a dog toy. 😍

He was a true adventurer with a nose for food and fun! He came on many a camping trip and loved running around the property. He adored his favourite fox stuffy but also took on wilder challenges, like a massive snapping turtle he found near the pond!

We are so grateful for the memories he gave us. Forever missed by all of us here at Fanta and by all those who couldn't escape his constant ask for pats. 🥰 What a loveable boy he was. We'll see you on the other side Keeno Beeno! 🤍🥺🤍

Went to the Scarborough Kennel Club shows in Lindsay this weekend with 3 youngsters, Juno, Nova & Tracker, their first official shows as jr puppies.
For the most part they handled all the noise & commotion fiarly well. End result Tracker was BOB both days and came home with 4 pts and got to play with the big dogs in the group ring. Nova was BOS over her sister Juno, both days for 2 pts. A big thank you to Laura Greenfield for helping out in the ring with the girls and managing to get a couple of pics of Tracker in the group ring :)

The Dogs and Us

My introduction to Elkhounds came in 1988 through a badly bred pet store puppy named Princess. She kept getting lower in price as everyone passed by her. I had young children at the time and she was a great fit. Sadly, she passed shortly after at 10 months of age from dwarfism/kidney disease. I then sought out a breeder and brought home "F***y" Veslykke's Fascination from Dick Smith. The kids could not pronounce her name, so she became Fanta. I later named my kennel after her, Fanta Reg’d. I have worked closely with other Elkhound breeders through the years, Charles MacInnes of Finnshavn and Barb Innes of Karin are a couple, often going to shows together. Since then I have shown, bred and made friends with many Elkhounds.

Currently, I spend my time with the dogs hiking, doing handling classes, rally obedience and attending shows. I also work for a pet food company that has allowed me to gain further nutritional knowledge and interaction with pet owners. I believe continuing education is key in breed health.

I have been a member of the CKC since early 1991 and serving the Norwegian Elkhound Club of Canada as Director for Ontario the past few years. I am pleased to now serve as Vice-President with the NECC.
