Sometimes simple conversations can have a huge and positive impact on your confidence.
Just over a year ago I booked in to go on Riley’s ride. I needed a stock saddle to do it in and when I had my lovely mare at one of her sessions with Ian we had the discussion as to what was going to suit her best. My comment was that she needed a stock saddle on an adjustable Fairfax or Kent and Masters type tree, with panels like a particular model that we knew worked for her. I made the comment in jest but Ian instantly said I should and ‘could’ just do it!
It was a very long time since I last made a saddle but the photos below are the end result.
I had to rethink different methods and steps along the way due to it being a synthetic tree and only ever having worked with traditional wooden trees. I got it finished in time (just!) and did the whole ride in it 😊
There were moments where I didn’t think I would get it finished, I had told only a handful of people what I was doing and unknowingly they kept me accountable and on track. Thanks to everyone that simply asked how it was going and convincing me that I could get it done!
And to my ever patient husband who put up with me disappearing into my workshop for ridiculously long amounts of time, who also appeared with cuppa’s to keep me going, thank you!
Self belief can sometimes be hard to find, thank you to everyone that put mine back together 🙏
