In June 2024, after 25 years of service to the community, RGCR's Board made the decision to dissolve the organization. This decision was made with the knowledge that RGCR's mission will continue to be carried out by The Animal Care Shelter for Kent County. Please reach out to them for assistance trapping or caring for feral cats, for information about cats that are available for adoption, or to relinquish a pet.
At the time of RGCR’s founding, its mission was unique in the county, which allowed it to fill a gap in the care of homeless cats. We are proud to say that we have succeeded in improving the well-being of feral and uncared for cats, while also reducing their numbers through an ongoing trap-neuter-release (TNR) program.
Since 1999, thanks to generous supporters, RGCR was able to spay and neuter 4,548 cats, provide other medical assistance to 1,312 cats, and facilitate 839 cat adoptions. We are so proud of these accomplishments and forever grateful to each and every person who supported our mission.
While it is bittersweet to be closing RGCR, we know with certainty that ACSKC will carry out the work that has been RGCR’s core mission without skipping a beat. We encourage you to continue to support RGCR's mission going forward through donations to ACSKC.
