Please share! Are you the person for Leon? This “angel sloth” is looking for a home. :-P
Leon (FIV+, 7-9 years) had a good meet and greet, but they decided to pass and look for a healthier cat. I am not disappointed: it was an adequate match but I think he will do best in a quieter home where his people are obsessed with him. :-P
FIV can be unpredictable, so this gentle precious sweetheart needs the right person to give him love and comfort his remaining years, which we hope are many! He had his neuter and dentals yesterday and both went GREAT, and he has gained two pounds and his blood work is much improved! (Boy was I relieved to hear that.)
He likes other cats and does fine with dogs, so would be okay with other non-reactive and calm animals. He is not looking for a playmate as this very gentle boy likes to lounge rather than get pounced on.
He is very social, approaches anyone he meets, loves a good cuddle, yet is also pretty independent at times.
He moves slowly because why rush? He lets you pick him up but is like an awkward teenager not sure what to do with his paws, so is better in a lap. :-)
I love this little guy (and his two temp fosters agree he is a gem), we just need to find him the right match.
If interested, find him on Petfinder.com or underdogpetrescue.org

Here are some of Mochi and Butterfinger’s cutest moments on video. Mochi is the most affectionate and Butterfinger is the goofy one always entertaining me with his antics. Mochi had Giardia, then the kittens were ringworm quarantine, and now the kitties are getting tapeworm treatment. Just one more pill! After being here for two months the kitties are ready for their forever home, so if you know a good pet parent looking for a pair of kitties, their information is on Petfinder and UnderdogPetRescue.org

This is my favorite method to pill cats. (See 1st comments for details.)
If you’re lucky you have a cat that accepts pilling, and doesn’t hide afterwards. But what if you have a skittish foster cat or your resident kitty needs half a dozen meds 2x a day?
This won’t work for everyone, but unless your cat is an obsessive chewer it should work. Don’t skip steps. **Be sure to coat the capsule!* (So it is yummy and easy to swallow!)
Trust me before this I TRIED IT ALL. When my cat Sasquatch had to start taking medicine it was a struggle. I tried pill pockets, pill clay, liquids, pill shooters, putting it into a treat, hiding it in food, and of course the old fashioned down-the-hatch method. It was stressful for both of us.
It’d work a couple times then he’d figure out there was something gross in the middle after chewing off the gummy coating, or he’d hide after I pilled him, or fight me during the process, or he’d avoid food because he couldn’t trust it. So that all sucked.
One day stressing about it after an unsuccessful pill pocket attempt I decided to try something new. He just needed to not taste the meds and to get it down quickly. I put his pill in a gel cap, made it as small as possible, rolled it in a food topper, and put it on a plate with a few treats. I was SO happy it worked. It worked that evening too. And the next morning. For YEARS.
I’m still convinced without this method he’d have lived a much shorter life. He was taking SO MANY medicines and supplements, yet he never ran from me, and didn’t avoid food out of mistrust. I was still his lovey mama and food was still yummy and life was good.
So if you’re in the same boat, give it a try. Feel free to ask questions and I’ll try to answer.
I recommend the treats and powder you use are unique to meddy-snack time. As kitty gets more finicky it may need to change.
I truly hope this helps you and your feline friends and that you have a long and happy life together. Love them

The stained glass portrait of Sasquatch is almost done! @shadowcatglass worked some magic on this one!
She’s pretty booked up on pet portraits but has some cool already made stuff in her shop available now.

Tilly making biscuits
Arnold was adopted (yay!) so let's talk about my current foster, TILLY! She's pretty awesome. :-) She came to Underdog as a mama, and all of her kittens got adopted, now she's overdue to be pampered by a loving human. She's very sweet, has an adorable meow, is friendly but not terribly needy, is soft and healthy, does not attack the tester Christmas tree or scratch furniture aggressively (well placed scratcher does the trick), and is basically a well-behaved cat that is going to be a great companion.
What's the catch? There are 2.
• She should be a single cat, because she gets too assertive and territorial with other cats.
• She is a little nippy when overstimulated. Though to be honest, she gives great signals, so it's easily avoided. Nippy cats are my specialty; she responds very well to a puff of air in her face, which she actually hasn't needed after the first 4 days. (She's quite smart.)
I think she is fantastic and know someone else will too.
Sasquatch 2003-2021
Sasquatch left us on Sunday March 14th, lying in my arms at UW Veterinary. We had 14 amazing years together and I tried to show him every day how loved he was. He will continue to be loved as long as my heart beats. Rest in peace Sasquatch.
For a little more, I have made a 3 minute tribute to the good moments he had in his last two months. It helps to see him feeling comfy and happy. https://www.instagram.com/tv/CMhncsJjmax/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link
