We have succeeded (and exceeded) what we set out to do: Our mission statement issued 17 years ago reads "to change the way people feed their pets". There are hundreds of companies making and selling real food for dogs because of the pioneering work we did. Our original, frozen, human grade line of Doggy Cuisine has proven to be invaluable to many pet owners and is still avail

able at select grocery and pet specialty and online at www.rudygreens.com and amazon. And now we are disrupting the market again, in a much smaller, but equally impactful way: creating the awareness that "one size does not fit all" for pets (nor people). The "complete and balanced for all life stages" standard for pet foods is utter nonsense- common sense tells you that the nutrition required by a chihuahua is not the same as a German Shepherd. Utilizing state of the art software, a network of holistic veterinary experts, and 2 decades of manufacturing experience, we are improving lives with our Custom Cuisine line. These tools allow us to formulate and prepare (truly) complete and balanced meals for individual dogs, based on their unique physiology and any diagnosis or conditions...using ONLY real food. Rudy Green's Doggy Cuisine™ "Home Cooking for Dogs" is the original HUMAN EDIBLE product made for dogs to be offered in major grocery chains and pet retailers in 2006. Made in a USDA/FDA inspected human food facility in Louisville, KY, each of our 5 recipes have at most 8 ingredients; all recognizable as food, with no additives, fillers, preservatives, or by-products. This gently cooked “stew” is packaged and sold frozen in a 24 oz. box containing 4 individual pouches, making it a convenient, safe way to add real nutrition to a dry/highly-processed diet. Pet lovers have grown increasingly distrustful of commercial pet food companies and wary of the marketing/labeling claims. It is time for common sense to be restored about food, and for complete transparency, honesty and integrity in manufacturing. And that is what we are all about.

The people at LMAS do an incomprehensibly difficult job because of IRRESPONSIBLE, CARELESS humans that allow dogs to run free, have unplanned litters or breed for profit. Or just flat out dump dogs and cats they no longer want.

Some comments we receive almost daily...
"Don't kill these innocent animals, murderers!"
"Why don't you send them to a no kill rescue!!"
"You should charge the owners!"
"Why don't you give them away for free instead of killing them?"

As the largest open intake shelter in Kentucky we can not turn away ANY stray pets found in Jefferson County, no matter how many kennels we have, we cannot turn stray pets away.
We do not take euthanasia lightly. We agonize over these hard decisions.
Our staff are the ones to comfort these abandoned and neglected pets during their final hours.

We work with any 501(c)(3) rescue that will work with us. All the pets we send to rescue are fully vetted with no rescue "pull fee." Know a rescue that has space? Send them our way, please!

We are not prosecutors or judges.
We will charge with abandonment if an owner is located/known. After the charges are sent up, we have no power in that house.

All pets over 40lbs and cats over 6 months have waived adoption fees every single day. Fully vetted.

We have one open kennel to start the day. That means for every stray dog that is turned in, another dog will lose their life.

Keep your pets contained on a leash every single time they go outside of a secure, fenced in yard.

When you choose Pinch, you help us foster dogs in need. Our beloved foster Snacks was adopted Sunday to a beautiful family with a HUMUNGO back yard and two adoring human brothers. We miss him but are so happy for him!

That same day we were alerted to a sweet stray girl (approx 2 years old) who needed a foster so she didn't end up at the completely packed shelter. She was underweight, had very long nails, and was likely used for breeding. So ...meet Bean, our new foster with the always amazing PBSF Dog Rescue!

She is a total doll. Loves snuggles, jumping in cute circles when we grab the leash for a walk, snuggling, learning how to play with toys, and trying new food.

Thanks to customers choosing Pinch, we can give her a safe home until she finds her forever family. She comes to work everyday and has been a very excellent "employee" so far. (Her job is to snooze under the desk).

This company was founded in 2006 by longtime animal rescue worker Karla Haas with a dual mission; to change the way we feed our pets by creating the first real human grade food for dogs, and to help animals in need through the proceeds of sales.

Why is it called Rudy Green’s? Because of love for a big brown dog, name Rudy Green.

We are dedicated and passionate about the welfare of animals- and our products have not only funded animal rescue efforts but have improved and saved lives through its use.
