Not every dog will be comfortable with having things over their face, but if your pup is adjusted to wearing costumes or sweaters then give this a try! You’ll need plenty of rewarding treats, fabric of your choice, and scissors. *Please* do not cut holes in the fabric while the fabric is on your pet!

We definitely aren’t a team of people whose mental health has been improved by the pets we care for. Nope! Not us!
Sarcastic trend aside, there’s no hiding the positive impact animals have on our mental health! Many members of our staff can’t have animals of their own for some reason or another (those pesky landlords!) and feel that working as guardians for other people’s pets has greatly improved their mood, confidence, and even made them feel more apart of the city we work in!

Trigger stacking! It’s hard! Any dog can experience the impacts of trigger stacking. Our walkers see it every day!
When we don’t remove or redirect our dogs before they interact with triggers; be it other dogs, motorbikes, or yelling people, we set them up for overstimulation.
Trigger stacking for pets is just like humans; you receive a work email detailing a stuck project, your mother-in-law calls you, and two seconds later your partner asks you what you want to do for dinner. How are you going to react? If you don’t take a moment to chill then your partner might be eating their own words for dinner.
Dogs need the same space to decompress from a trigger before being able to move on. Touch and sit are great commands for this! If you don’t have time to constantly stop on walks, we recommend the banana trick! Walk in a “c” around the trigger, usually placing cars or significant distance between you, while distracting your pup with high-pitched affirmations or treats!
We aren’t trainers, but from our 13 years of experience, we’ve seen time and time again that this makes a huge difference in the positive association your dog will have with walks!
