Dog Wheelchair LIFE Dog Wheelchair LIFE is an educational blog that prepares pet parents about how to take care of their paralyzed dog. https://dogwheelchairlife.com/

Dog Wheelchair LIFE was inspired by Sophie, a dog who loved being the fastest runner in the dog park. In 2008, Sophie was stricken with a progressive paralysis. For the next five years she taught her owners how to enjoy a new normal way of life. Her story started a blog and this community. Through forums, resources, advice, clinical trials, personal accounts and education, we offer support to pet

owners currently facing the challenge of being the caregiver for a special needs dog, cat or other animal. Everyone is welcome! You don't need to have a disabled pet or any pet at all. We encourage pet owners to share their story and pictures with us. Play Nice:

On Friday October 3, 2025 I said goodbye to sweestest dog that ever came into my life. Olivia developed kidney failure and there wasn't anything we could do for her.
I met Olivia on the same day that a van full of dogs and volunteers delivered her to a local rescue group. She had been abandonded in a parking lot in Oklahoma and then shuffled around to dog rescue groups and foster families. Ultimately a group in my area took custody of her. My name was on the adoption list and they called. Olivia passed the interview with flyng colors. She was friendly to everyone in the family, including my cats, and she fell in love with Bailey, my Rottie mix. At first Olivia would jump into the lap of everyone that she met. She'd cuddle and stare into their eyes. It's my theory that she tried to bond with everyone, becaue she hadn't bonded with anyone. A couple of months later she stopped giving away her love because she knew she was finally at her "forever" home. -Sharon
