Romi and Leo! I love how in the moment dogs can be and what good teachers they are to one another. Leo, the (almost) 1 year old doodle met Romi for the first time today. He came barreling into her home with all of his wiggly puppy energy. Romi, the very silly but also now too oh-so-mature for that energy told Leo a few times that she wasn’t into it. Within moments Leo calmed, put himself into a down, and politely waited while Romi got her harness on. After that they were amazing buddies!

Meet our new friend, Roxy! 🌟 Her parents recently adopted her from and immediately called us for walks and training. We couldn’t be more excited and grateful!! 🙏 This sweet baby has already had babies and was clearly experiencing neglect in her former life. But with just a little TLC from her pawsome new pawrents (sorry, had to) and our amazing team she is really coming out of her shell!! 😍 Giving a companion animal a second chance to get the life they all deserve is not only desperately needed but it is so rewarding! 🥰

We’ve made so many new friends this week! One of them is Nara! She just moved to the Big Apple and is adjusting still. City noises can be quite overwhelming for a dog who’s not used to them. Her parents and us are aiming to create positive experiences and feelings of happiness while she’s outside. So far she’s doing great and loves her social walks!! 🥰💕

2/3 "One day I found Mo & Lonestar at the front door. I’d already purchased everything for them so I called my roommate and he came down and grabbed happy-go-lucky Mo. Lonestar wasn’t as docile and when I picked her up with ill-prepared hands, she scratched me and fled for her life. Sadly, she never came near me again. These days I’d know to get help to rescue her but back then I was ignorant of how to get her back. I still feel guilt over that and think about her all the time… The first order of business for Mo was a flea bath! We expected our faces to get ripped off but the little guy just made lots of sounds of frustration. Not one claw mishap! As Mo settled in I began to wonder if he actually thought he was a dog. He’s super vocal and responsive to humans, he plays fetch, he loves belly rubs, and when the door buzzes he runs to the door to greet whoever is visiting! Any time I bring a doggy client over, he is quick to make friends with them (sometimes even to the dog’s horror and confusion)! He loves visiting dogs for long overnight stays with me. When I walk through the door after work he yells at me until I sit down on the floor with him. He is a ground kitty and prefers to be on the floor rather than up high… like a dog. Everyone is always impressed with how much he has to say. I swear he’s even yelling his name over and over again like 'MO! MO!' When it’s second breakfast time I think he’s screaming 'Now!' So demanding! If only I could get him to say his full name, Mospeh Junior III."

Grateful for so much time with the crew this week! We sure are going to miss our little Bagel boy 😩 #fididogs

Today we got to walk recently adopted Dottie! 🐶 We are so excited to welcome her to the HHNYC pack! Her mom mentioned to us that she was afraid of grates. If you live in NYC you know how inconvenient it can be for your dog to stop short or pull you far away from the grates beck see they are everywhere and can be difficult to avoid! ⚠️ So we like to train dogs to get used to stepping on the ones with smaller openings (safety first) using positive reinforcement aka treats and praise! You can see that she handled it like a champ! 🏆If your dog is afraid, use a treat lure to get them to slowly move towards the grate. As soon as you get the tiniest step on, give that reward! Then slowly increase! Over time your dog will comfortably walk past or even over them without blinking an eye! #fididogs #rescuedogs

We’ve been caring for Kennedy and Lincoln since they were each little puppies and are going to miss them so much! We wish them all the best on their next adventure as country dogs. Thank you for all the good times. ❤️
