I truly wish it had not taken me so many years to realize how simple 'my joy' is...the love of my sweet animals, both in the pasture and snoring at my feet...my tiny in-need-of-so-many-updates farmhouse which I love with my whole heart...the time to sip coffee and look at the forest as the fog rises on this crispy cold morning...the absolute peace of solitude.

ORIGINAL POST: Our cameras, website and app have been down since early this morning. There is no estimate for when they will be back up. Our IT continues to work on it. Yes, before you ask, we tried turning it on and off first, then gave the monitor and keyboard a few whacks. Neither worked. With cameras down, this is what it looks like out there.

Life in the p**p bag holder lane…

Ok, guys, I have a confession to make. I was very late to get on the p**p bag holder wagon. I am not even sure I want to admit I am on a wagon called “p**p bag holder”, but here we are.

Whenever I walked the dogs I was constantly searching for where I left the last bag I had torn off the roll. Or the roll itself, for that matter. I’ll admit, I just didn’t make organizing my p**p bags a priority. And yet I did the same dance of “where the heck is the p**p bag?” every single day.

When we went to dog shows our conversation – AT EVERY SINGLE SHOW - was, “Where’s the p**p bag, do you have the roll? I thought you had the roll! Maybe it’s in the red bag. No, I think they are in the tool box.” No exaggeration. Two adults, having this same conversation at every single dog show. And then it happened. I got on the p**p bag holder wagon. My. Life. Has. Changed.

Not everyone is “extra” like me. I own that. It took something cute to get me onboard (I am looking at you, Poopo the Bear, the most darling p**p bag holder I have ever seen.) And once I loaded this little holder, attached it to a leash, I was transformed. In all honesty, I feel like this is the most adult thing I have done since I bought my house. 🤣

Now I always know where the roll is, it is ready as we walk, the bags are effortless to get, and, I never run out if I need multiple bags on a walk, because we all know it happens.

I can't believe how this month has flown by! I have been BUSY shopping for you all and have a lot of new products being added to the store!

My dogs have gone insane for it (they were leaping off the ground for more). Even the very discerning Annika has given her enthusiastic paw of approval!

Let’s talk teeth!

Periodontal disease is one of the most common health issues in veterinary medicine. Even if your dog’s teeth look pearly white and clean, studies show that 80-90% of dogs over the age of 3 have some component of periodontal disease. It’s worse in smaller breeds, and the incidence increases with age.

And the main culprit in dental disease? Plaque. Especially underneath the gums.

Plaque is not that icky brown tartar that accumulates on your dog’s teeth over time. Yes, that brown tarter harbors bacteria and odor (and better not to have it) but it is not the main player in periodontal disease.

Plaque is an invisible bacterial slime (or biofilm) on the surface of the tooth as well as above the gum line. It causes all kinds of issues which can result in tooth loss with a lot of unnecessary pain and discomfort along the way. And even worse, periodontal disease has been linked to liver and heart disease.

Your number one weapon against periodontal disease is prevention. Chews and chew toys definitely help with dental health, but for the most effective full mouth prevention you need a great pet toothpaste.
