Cooper was pi***ng her off with his barking & she also didn't want to waste time doing a photo shoot when there was sniffin' to do!

Bought a great scale to keep track of Simon, Oreo, Beau & Griffin's weight. As kitties age, or if they're sick like Oreo, it's so important to weigh them on a regular basis as often slight weight loss is the first sign of health issues & by the time the weight loss is noticeable by us, they're usually quite sick. Simon, Beau & Griffin have very early CKD. Simon's weight has been stable but Beau & Griffin were losing weight at one time likely more due to their HyperThyroid but they've been holding steady since I've gotten their meds figured out. Oreo was on a steady & rapid decline until we introduced that heavy duty med & now he's gaining again :) But things can change quickly, especially with CKD & HyperT & Oreo's condition & I feel better now that I have a scale so I can weigh them every week. **Of course, the kitties love the box it came in the best! That's even a new bed next to the box & none of them have even stepped into the bed yet, LOL!

Some great tips on how to get your dog used to wearing boots/socks! It can take a lot more time for some dogs than just putting them on your dog & expecting them to accept them right away. Most people give up after a couple tries & many dogs are very sensitive to having anything on their feet & require time & patience & a chance to get used to them before even taking a step in them.

Cooper modeling the Eco-Friendly Wrap Harness with matching leash that I have for sale. These are Canadian, handmade products, made with renewable or repurposed double layered cotton fabric and reinforced with interfacing. It has Velcro at the neck and chest for a secure fit and the neck area is reinforced with a repurposed side release buckle. Cooper is wearing this harness on the smallest size & it will adjust a few inches bigger. It's a size Medium & fits neck 11"-14", chest 15"-18". The matching leash is 4ft long. An important reminder to never feed grapes & raisins to your dogs or cats. Always keep them out of reach!

Meet Charlo who is a 2 year old Shetland Sheepdog who recently spent some time in our hospital after eating raisins. Did you know that grapes and raisins can be severely toxic to your dog? Something that is seemingly harmless to us can actually cause your dog’s kidneys to fail

Unfortunately, this was the case for poor Charlo. After eating a bag of raisins he quickly became very ill at home. Within a few hours of ingestion, bloodwork revealed that his kidneys had already begun to fail!
Thankfully, after 10 days of intravenous fluids and medications, we were successful in nursing Charlo and his kidneys back to good health. Charlo is now back home with his loving family

You may be asking yourself, “How can this be? My dog has eaten grapes and/or raisins before and was just fine?” The truth is some dogs are not susceptible to the toxic effects of grapes and raisins. The problem is that we cannot differentiate those that are at risk from those who are not. For that reason, we advise you to refrain from feeding raisins and grapes to your dog. If your dog does ingest raisins or grapes we recommend having them checked by a veterinarian as soon as possible.

Oh my goodness, yes, there are choices! Dogs can heal from IVDD with time (and time is required whether you do conservative management or surgery), the right pain meds & rehab. So many vets write dogs off immediately & that is so unfair to the dog & their pawrents. Jingles recovered twice from IVDD (even in his advanced age over 20 yrs old) and Cora rocovered from IVDD as well. There is hope, lots of it!!

My kitties love these cozy handmade cat mats! The mats are approx 17" X 12" and they come in a variety of colors. They are made using a fluffy, thick wool based yarn for the body, and a complementing yarn lining on the outside. Each mat has a kitty related saying on it, either "Here Kitty, Kitty!" or "Cat Nap". Available color combinations: Burnt Orange with Navy border, Grape with Charcoal border, Grass with Marigold border, Honey with Berry border, Sky Blue with Navy border. I paid $20 each for them wholesale. Would be happy to sell them for $15 each.

The vet came over today for Oreo's checkup & bloodwork to see how he's doing with the new medication. He's had 7 doses so far (he gets it every 3 days) & from what the vet saw of Oreo, she thinks it could be helping. He gained weight this time (he was losing weight every visit) & she thought the color of his gums looked better. His spleen is still enlarged but that may never go down to normal size again. Overall he's looking good & feeling good. We'll know for sure if the new med is helping or not tomorrow when we get his bloodwork back. But it's a great sign that he actually gained a bit of weight instead of losing!
