Last week I said goodbye to Piper. She was 10, and we spent 9 amazing years together. She fought like hell against cancer, we tried everything we could, got some extra months and filled them with as much love and fun as possible. As awful as it has been to lose her, I'm consoled by remembering that she lived a life full of happiness, excitement and good times with me, her little brother monkey all of her friends. She was always so happy and excited about a walk, car ride, trip to the park or especially running around the woods at a metropark. I was able to bring her to work with me almost every day, and she made so many great buddies, having fun on walks and running around playing together at schiller and goodale park. I will always be grateful to my clients and their dogs who filled her days with joy and excitement, there are many of you but you know you who are. I have too many amazing pictures of her with all her friends, will be posting more. Thank you to all my friends and family who knew her and loved her, and let her lovingly rub her face on yours after she was done barking at you. Thanks as well to dr. Sears and all the staff at great southern animal hospital.

Piper was one of a kind, a forceful and bossy alpha dog yet also the sweetest and most affectionate companion. She was extremely intelligent and always so well behaved, loved to play and bark but was friendly and gentle to other dogs and cats as well. We were together every single day, in lock step with each other. We could comminicate so clearly and always knew what the other wanted. Those 9 years were well spent with my best friend. The fun we had and love we shared is frozen in time, and we will always be there together, healthy and happy and ready for another trip to the park.

My girl Piper has been having a rough time lately, she was recently diagnosed with cancer in her omentum. She had surgery to remove a mass last week and fortunately it went well! We are not out of the woods yet, but Piper is tough. Wanted to let you all know, because many of you have gotten to know her over the years. To know her is to love her! The whole thing is hard for me to talk about or even think about but I will do my best to keep you all posted, and hopefully share good news soon.
