Somerri Kennels Somerri Kennels has over 55 years of experience with Norwegian Elkhounds, 13 generations, which began with CH Bea's Lady Jade. [email protected]

The Somerri Kennels of the Hall/Lewis family has been dedicated to the Norwegian Elkhound for over 55 years in southern New Hampshire. All of our Elkhounds are descended from CH. Bea’s Lady Jade who was our first Norwegian Elkhound who was purchased and owned by Bea Hall who was the person responsible for introducing this family to this breed we cherish so much. Bea felt that this breed showed ded

ication to their owners and was a breed that was genetically and mentally sound which would make for a great family dog. Bea was right and we have enjoyed our dogs involving them in many activities with us as can be seen here. We continue to maintain the traits of this breed who originally were adapted centuries ago to help the Norwegian Vikings provide food on the table through the moose they were able to hunt. This function continues in Norway to this day only now to control the population of moose. Although we did not know that going to an AKC Fun Match mentioned in a New Hampshire newspaper in 1963 would bring us into the world of dog shows our Jade did so well that we quickly entered more events and it became a family activity. Since then we have produced over 75 champions that have been finished under the Somerri Kennels Prefix and these can be viewed on our website SomerriKennels.com. Many of these have also been in the top 10 Norwegian Elkhounds shown in the United States over the years. We continue to show our Norwegian Elkhounds and you can see many of their recent wins here as well as other activities we are involved in with them. This is truly a family hobby with 3 generations involved in making it happen. Hope you enjoy our Norwegian Elkhounds as much as we do!

Scentwork Day!!!
Holly was the trial chair for her first all breed scentwork trial so photos were not happening 🤣🤣 it wasn't the easiest conditions but Kima won her advanced interiors class and Sawyer was 2nd in Master container to earn him his Master container tittle!!!

We had to shelter in place early afternoon for a long tornado warning, thankfully nothing touched down too close and we were able to finish our trial!!!!

Scentwork Day!!! Another video of Sawyer trialing yesterday in advanced buried for his first qualifying score in buried. He again had 2 hides and 2 minutes to find them. The wind drifted him towards the building, but he was able to follow it back towards the 2nd hide.

Sawyer working in advanced exterior for his 2nd qualifying score yesterday. The heavy wind and on/off rain didn't stop his nose this weekend! He had 2 minutes to find 2 hides, one hide was on outside of bench and the other within the fencing.
