Many of us have suffered from the loss of an animal companion and it can be quite devastating. Yet it might be helpful to realize that our animals do not view death, or shall I say the death of the body, in the same way that some of us do.

Animals are amazing and can play a variety of roles in our lives. They can be our teachers, our mirrors, and even our healers. I have been in awe many times by their capacity to love and forgive. They are very intuitive and can even be aware of what we can do to help ourselves.

The animals in our life can teach us many lessons, especially if we are open to learning from them. It can be interesting to observe their behavior and ask ourselves, "Is there is a lesson they are wanting to teach me?" This can pose some challenges but might indeed be a transforming endeavor.
