*** PHIL & TED - FOR ADOPTION ***
Phil & Ted are a funny little pair looking for a home together in/around the Ipswich area.
Both boys had a pretty awful start in life, & were terrified of humans when they arrived with us. They have been with us a while now, & are just a pair of daft lads, with their little quirks & foibles.
They are both around 5 years old, neutered & chipped.
Phil (black & white) is a sweet little chap. He loves to be outside, exploring getting into kitty mischief. He enjoys being fussed, but most of all he loves to snuggle in the night, so must be adopted to a home where sleeping on beds is ok.
Ted (black) is a little shyer. He is still hand shy, but is happy enough pottering around getting braver all the time. He does like going outside, but tends to stay in the garden.
Unfortunately, Phil has turned into a terror & will chase, harass & even fight with other cats both in the home & outside, so this pair will need to be the only cats in the home. They are not dog tested.
The boys need a relatively quiet home, they could live with well-mannered children over 12 years, who will understand they need time & patience to settle in.
The boys will need a secure room to stay in, until they get used to a new home & new people. They will want access to a safe outside space away from busy roads & other obvious dangers, & a cat flap to come & go through.
They are a very sweet little pair, & both such good boys, & once settled will make a lovely addition to the right family.
If you think you may be able to offer the boys the home they deserve, please message us with some details, including your address. Thank you.
Homecheck & adoption donation apply.

**** MEET ROGER **** ADOPTED ****
Roger has recently arrived with us via Heathrow, off a plane from Cairo. Roger was found in a terrible state in the middle of a very busy junction in the centre of Cairo. Thankfully he was spotted by a rescuer who grabbed him, got him to safety, & gave him the care & love he needed to get him fit & well again.

Roger was clearly a domestic cat who had most likely been put out on the street to his fate, once he was not a cute little kitten anymore, which sadly, is very common in Egypt. Lucky for Roger his fortunes turned & after lots of hard work, he is now a UK citizen (with an Egyptian kitty passport!) & is now ready for someone to fall in love with him & offer him the forever home he deserves in/around the Ipswich area.

We believe Roger is about 3 years old now, he is neutered, chipped & vaccinated.

Roger is a total love bug & wants lots of fuss & attention. He really would prefer to be the only cat, but would consider a home with another laid back kitty, & we would not home with a dog as not dog tested. He could live with well mannered, cat savvy children over 5 years old. Roger would want access to a safe outside space, away from busy roads, train lines, etc once settled. If you think you could offer Roger the forever home he deserves, please message us including your address & we will get back to you asap. Please note home check, & adoption donation apply.
Thank you.

CHESTER & NED - ADOPTED
Our gorgeous boys, Chester & Ned went of to their lovely new home together yesterday. They are the sweetest, snuggliest boys, but they are a pair of real Loo Laas, so this is exactly what we expected. Pictured here in their cat cave, which was waiting for them to climb into when they arrived.
It seems very quiet here without them, an we miss them so much, but we know that in a few days they will start to feel more settled & it wont be long before they are getting all the love & fusses they deserve after their sad starts.
Be happy boys

🐾🐾🐾 CATS & COVID-19 🐾🐾🐾
The BBC published a very ill informed article today, with the headline "Keep your Cats Indoors - Vet Recommends", suggesting that letting cats outdoors could increase the risk of spreading Covid-19!

This sensational piece was not only ill informed, it was damning & could easily have lead to cat owners, & neighbours of totally overreacting to the detriment of poor kitty.

There has been a lot of noise online today, with many vets & agencies refuting the claims. The BBC headline & article have both been updated now, but it is likely damage has already been done.

Please have a look at the pieces below for some sensible advice if you have any concerns. 🐾🐾

🐾🐾🐾 LUCY's LAW 🐾🐾🐾

On Monday 6 April the Government introduced landmark new legislation to tackle the low-welfare, high volume supply of puppies and kittens, by banning their commercial third-party sale in England.

‘Lucy’s Law’ means that anyone wanting to get a new puppy or kitten in England must now buy direct from a breeder, or consider adopting from a rescue centre instead. Licensed dog breeders are required to show puppies interacting with their mothers in their place of birth. If a business sells puppies or kittens without a licence, they could receive an unlimited fine or be sent to prison for up to six months.

Sadly, this does not make back yard breeding illegal, but it is a massive step in the right direction.

*** WE NEED YOUR HELP ***

Things are a bit tough at the moment, & we really need your help.
Bettys is pretty much self funded, and we currently have 22 fosters in with us (as well as our 10 resident kits who came to stay but never left!)

The impact of the COVID-19 has already hit us.
I (Betty), work full time and cover around 90% of the cost of the rescue out of my salary. Bettys is not my job, it is what I do before & after my job & on my "days off".

Food, Treatments, Vet bills, Heating, etc... all add up & we spend around £400 a month on the rescues before we any vet bills. While it is often tight we usually muddle through with the support of some of our fantastic friends.
Thankfully I have been off work this week on annual leave, but have had to spend a lot of it running around looking for cat food (with 32 cats to feed, I cant just pop out & grab a box of food, it all has to be planned & bought in bulk). We have have to plan ahead now as delivery times are running at about 10 days from most suppliers.

I work in a sales based job & have already had a massive order cancel this week which has cost me around £600/£700 in the bank.

On top of that, one of our "un-adoptables" Codita had an abscess in her mouth which burst on Tuesday night. Of course we got her to the vet first thing Wednesday, & an examination of her mouth showed that she urgently needed a dental. Thankfully the vets were able to fit her in straight away for us, & on picking her up were told that she had to have ALL of her teeth removed! Even her canines & incisors which looked perfectly healthy, were unstable & had to come out. Even with our great discount it cost £374, (see pics).

And even more sadly, we have already had a couple of viewings cancelled this week as people start self isolating, so we imagine homing will be even tougher than usual for a while :(

We know so many of you are struggling or uncertain about what the next few months will bring & life may be tough for all of us for the forseeable future, but this is where we ask you for your help.
If you can spare a few pounds, please consider making a small donation to Bettys via Paypal [email protected] or we can give you Bettys bank details if you would rather do a bank transfer. We will get a fundraiser page set up a bit later too.

Please excuse the long post, once i got started, it was longer than planned!
Thank you all so much for your support

*** CHESTER & NED - FOR ADOPTION ***
These gorgeous boys are still with us, waiting for the right person/family to fall in love with them & offer them the home they deserves in/around the Ipswich area.
Chester & Ned are a dear little pair. Chester (Tabby) is very shy with strangers, but is the most snuggliest, cuddliest boy in the world. Ned (black & white) is a huge, fluffy, floof. A quiet boy, who likes to come for a snuggle in his own time.
Please see link below for full details on our gorgeous boys.
Please note, we will not home the boys with children under 12, not dog tested. They could live with other laid back cats.
Home check & adoption donation apply.
Please pm Bettys Boarders direct with any questions or if you think this could be the boy for you.

Chester & Ned have become firm friends & we are looking for to find them the perfect home together, in/around the Ipswich area.

Chester is approx. 1 year old. He came to us at around 10/12 weeks old, & had problem with one of his eyes that we needed to get sorted, which we have now (will happily discuss with potential adopter, but nothing to worry about). He is growing into a lovely big boy. He is a soppy, daft lump who loves to drape himself over us for snuggles & naps, but does hide from strangers, so will not be at his best for anyone coming to meet him!. He loves a snuggle & will play for ages with a dangly toy.

Ned is around 2 years old now, he has been adopted already, but came back to us a few months ago through no fault of his own. Ned is a bit shyer than Ned, but once he knows you enjoys a fuss, he is getting more confident & will let visitors fuss him if they are quiet & don't spook him. He too will play with dangly toys for ages & will curl up beside us for a little snuggle when we sit with the kits. He is a gorgeous, big, heavy lump.

As they are both a bit daft, we are looking for a home with no small children, older children only, (12 years+), who will be more patient with them & give them the time & space they need to settle in at their own pace.

Any adopter will need to have a sanctuary room that the boys can have as their own, with the door shut for as long as is needed for them to settle in, before being introduced to the rest of the home when they are ready.

They will need access to a safe outside space away from busy roads, train lines, etc once they are ready to go outside.
Chipped, neutered, flea/worm treated, these boys are about ready for the perfect person/family to fall in love with them & offer them the forever home they deserve.

If you have any questions, or feel you could offer them the home they need, please PM us. (Please note, that we do work full time, so may not reply to messages straight away)
Homecheck & adoption donation apply.
