Tess says her baby belly is real! When I compare the shape of hers to Greta's (false pregnancy) there are discernable differences. Live & Learn! Should have puppies within a week 😊

GRETA UPDATE!
As we are reaching the 2 week mark with no pups, and as Miss Greta started looking more svelte the last 2 days, I took her in for an xray today. She has gained 11 lbs and is lactating, but she's not pregnant. I was aware of False Pregnancy in dogs, but I was not aware of how convincing their physical appearance of being pregnant can be during a False Pregnancy. Google it if you're interested - it's quite fascinating. A first for us, after 10 years of breeding!

We're still waiting! For those who have expressed concern, Greta is fine! I estimated the earliest date pups could be born, but the dogs breed for up to 2 weeks, insemination can happen up to 5 days after breeding, and gestation is estimated at 63 days but can be up to 68. So, I can easily be off by 2+ weeks but I error on the early side. Greta is happy, comfortable, eating, sleeping & swimming. However, she did not want to pose properly for a picture today 😉

An update for those who are waiting for pups.... Greta's estimated due date of 7/11 has passed & we are waiting patiently! Tess had me convinced she didn't get pregnant up until a couple days ago, when she seemingly popped a baby belly over night! She is due mid August.
