It's been a few days since our first session with Prinz. We're still nit comfortable with taking food, even if its chicken. But he is willing to try new things regardless! He's starting to be curious about new things, even if they scare him first.

So at the end of our session, I decided to take him to the park and just walk.

A lot of loud noises from the road, new smells and people didn't keep him from walking like a perfect gentleman though.

We've played a few confidence games (getting on and off things like tables and playground equipment). At the end he was comfortable enough to take a few treats and lay down to just observe the world.

Gathering some data again.

If we would try to open a doggy day care (with potential to offer boarding later on) in Oakridge, how many people would use this kind of service?

Other services as Day Training, Pick-up and drop-off, nail trims and more would be offered as well. (In addition to all the other services we already provide).

Please let us know your opinions on this matter. Or if you wouldnlike to see something else offered as well.

Alright, since this business is growing, and many people who haven't met me yet are contacting me, it's time to make an official post and introduce myself to all of you.

My name is Kerstie Harville.
I was born in Nürnberg, Germany and moved to Shreveport Louisiana in 2013 to pursue my life long dream to become a dog trainer.

After landing in Shreveport, I quickly got an online certificate in dog training and started my career with a position at a Petsmart in Longview Texas.
There, a friend introduced me to the wonderful world of dog sports and higher "education" dog training.
I was never a competitive person till I started dog sports.

I ended up moving around a lot and being blessed by having opportunities to work with many different trainers and learn so much.

For a little while I was invited to hang out and practice with law enforcement K9 handlers, learning a bunch about scent and bite work.

Then I worked with a private K9 handler for a while, learning more about personal protection training.
While I'm not proficient in these kind if training areas, I still learned a lot and was grateful for all those opportunities.

In 2019 started down a different path and learned the craft of dog grooming.

But as much as I enjoy grooming, I always come back to dog training, that's just my main passion.

I've worked with rescues, training and fostering dogs to help them get adopted quicker. That's something I would love to get back into as the busines grows and I can offer boarding again.

I didnt grow up around dogs, just a cat that was like a brother to me. But I've always loved dogs, ever since I can remember.

Actually, my fascination with dog behavior started after I got bit by a German Shepherd when I was 6 years old. It was a neighbors dog and I kept wondering back then, what I could have done differently, to prevent this, which launched me into this whole animal behavior thing, before I even knew that this was a thing.

While I'm definitely a dog person through and through, I love all animals. I'm the type of person that wants to be friends with all of them. If dog, Cat, snake, bird or what ever, I want to know how to communicate properly and build a trusting relationship that is build on mutual respect.

Now that it's getting hotter, we'll be trying to find new/better trails to take our walkers to, to keep them cool. First time taking Kobe to a different trail, which allowed us to give him a bit more freedom on his walk. We are Kerstie and Steven, owners of Totally Pawsome Pet Care. Between the two of us we have well over a decade of pet service experience. Combining a passion for animals in general with a desire to treat and care for clients’ pets as though they were part of our own family, our goal is to provide the absolute best and most comprehensive pet service you can or will find anywhere. From obedience and service dog training to pet sitting, dog walking and even p**p scooping, we take pride in doing everything in our power to make the lives of both you and your pets as comfortable as possible, as well as allowing you to have faith that your animals are in skilled, professional, caring and trustworthy hands.

Pet service isn’t just our passion, it’s our lives. We have five animals of our own (with more likely on the way in the not too distant future) and both of us have a lifelong love for creatures big and small. It would be our pleasure to count you and your critters among our many pet passionate friends.
