One of my favorite parts of training is when they’re all at different stages. I forgot to include three of the groundwork ones, but there is a good mix of horses. I get the opportunity to work with right now! Thought it would be nice to film the difference 💕

It’s nice to have a day of liberty work as an easy cool down and connection session. Pixel is becoming like Lynx, a horse of many trades!

Clinic season is approaching fast 👏❤️

I have most of my stops lined up, just working on creating the route! Where would you like to learn (in improve on) liberty this year? Or do you have any specific liberty (maybe just connection) goals with your horse this year?

✨ Please consider helping this special case Wild Mustang ✨ Christmas wish for this boy! 🎁

I have a predicament…

My bay mustang is a very reactive and dangerous with his reactions still. He’s going to be a tough longterm kid.

He would thrive with working off of a pony horse and having a second person nearby if needed to help. So I found him just that…

I have a fantastic trainer nearby who has solid pony horses willing to help me. Training is expensive though (as it should be - he’s very talented and skilled!).

I don’t like asking for donations, but if you’d like to see this horse have a shot at the domestic life… consider helping this bay mustang out ❄️ I can’t get him there alone.

If there are enough people committed to wanting to help see him through in his transition to domestic life, I’ll keep him with my trainer friend when can work him in a safe manner. He’s willing to keep him for a while longer and I’m willing to get over there as often as I can.

What would his future be?

He gets worked and gentled until he is safe enough to be owned and loved by someone else. I’m not sure he is a horse that is fit for competition, even if it is a year long. He may prove me wrong! The goal is to help these mustangs get out of holding, comfortable, and into safe homes. Usually I can do that alone, but I’d love to see this horse stay successful! Basically this mustang could use a team believing in him 🙌

If you would like to see this guy continue to have a shot at getting gentled in a way that works for him, send me a message ❤️💚

Horses are so beautiful. Sometimes I get caught up in making sure they all get trained and worked (which is essential of course) that I forget why I truly love being around these animals. That are fully expressive and in the moment. They are very present creatures and I envy that 😆 they always respond so much softer when I’m present with them instead of planning ahead or worrying about other things. I feel like I say it often, but I’m so grateful I get to spend every day around horses. I wouldn’t have it any other way 💕

Fancy George went home! 🏠

This sweet boy started with the intern/training bootcamp week and continued to stay in training the next two months.

Fun fact with this pony, his first trot was ba****ck. I’ve started many horses, and this was my first ever trot ba****ck too 😆 he felt safe and comfortable so we went for it!

I know everyone is more interested in the mustangs… but I still like to give the Warmbloods, Welsh, and other breeds the spotlight too sometimes 💡

Williston the Mustang!

Only a few more weeks left with this sweet kid until he goes home. I haven't gotten in many already gentled mustangs to start undersaddle, it was cool to work with one that already got through that first stage of life. He is so smart and light to ride. His owner came out and saw a difference in his muscling which was nice to hear! It's always tricky for me to tell if there is a huge difference or not because I see them every day. Just a little work every day makes the biggest difference... consistency, some physical work, and mental thinking. Short, sweet, but frequent sessions. He's going to have an amazing time being a trail horse and getting loved on 💚

For those asking/making assumptions here's an update on bay boy 😆 Hopefully this answers all of your questions.

Yes, I'm continuing to try with him.
Yes, I understand all mustangs are different (believe it or not, this is actually my 11th year gentling mustangs 🥳, and my 15th competition mustang).
No, I'm not ashamed to ask for opinions & thoughts from other experienced mustang trainers.
Yes, he is a slower case.
Yes, I'd love to treat him for ulcers/give him magnesium... he's not taking pellets/cubes yet and the mouth is a sensitive subject... in the future 😆
Yes, I understand acknowledging small tries in the horse (actually I have a cool video on this 😉).
No, he's not going to end up somewhere for slaughter (it's mainly YouTube that hops in this train lol)
No, I'm not going to make him run until he is drenched in sweat and can't breathe.
No, the shadows, crows, planes, ect cannot go away.
Yes, financial aspect is part of this (someone buy him, and pay for his training 😉 he can stay forever in training then).
Yes, there are some mustang sanctuaries, we are not there yet. He is not a lost cause gentling. He tries.

Hopefully that clears up some confusion on this pony. Also, if he does make it as a domestic horse and you're invested in his story, he is available 😁

Pip 🐹

This adorable large warmblood mare is in training to be restarted undersaddle and find her job/purpose in life! She’s been great to work with and is a total sweetheart on the ground. Undersaddle she is starting to come around 😉

Just wanted to share this beautiful mare with y’all! Currently working 11 horses a day so I’m falling a little behind updating on new arrivals.

Especially thankful for these two mustangs! I hope you have a lovely day today whether you're spending it with family, friends or horses 🐴

Little bay mustang is having a hard time getting on board with the gentling journey... he was making slow but steady progress, but now he is slipping back and back tracking.

It's hard to tell if he's deciding the domestic life isn't for him, or he just needs a very slow rate of progression. If he's not in flight phase and snorting like a dragon, he's in freeze and very uncomfortable and shutting down. He is very athletic and unfortunately it doesn't help in this sense for gentling. Hoping I can get this boy back on the same page eventually.

Squirrel 🐿️

This cutie is a 5 year old gelding from Salt Wells Creek Wyoming. I have him for a short little 2-week bootcamp to help him advance a little more in his gentling journey!

He is a sweet guy and is doing great. Learning softness leading, desensitizing, and working on getting him ready to be trimmed by a farrier! 🐴

I’ll upload a few videos of him showing his progress, one is already up on YouTube 😊

Leading by the feet 📖 he was surprisingly fantastic! I have only done the front so far.

I didn’t forget about posting updates on this guy! We just drove up the coast to pick up horses from the airport and got back home today. He had a few days off and I’m sure it was enjoying the downtime 😊

Update for those asking… no I have not decided a name yet 😆

I’m excited to share new training horses that are coming in soon! The rest of this year is nice and busy. Just have a couple openings for early next year and then back on the road for clinics 🛻

Mustang update ⭐️

It isn't always the prettiest raising expectations! We have been working on a lot of blocking... changing it into softening and trust with eachother!

He also discovered pressure from ropes around the hind end to turn isn't his favorite. And I discovered he has a very strong and passionate kick 😆

Video from this session is up on YouTube now!

Any guesses for what happened in that last screenshot? 😅 it's something that *usually* doesn't happen...

Haltering was pretty easy... initial pressure for leading actually wasn't all that bad either... but standing further back than the cheek with my body? Currently unacceptable 😆

A couple ugly moments before a sweet end to the session. Video of the morning session of this day on YouTube now!

He has a strong battle mentally between all three fight, flight, or freeze... hopefully we can start to pick 'relax' as our answer soon 🙂

Tag off! ✅

Special way to end day two 💕

Slowly but surely making progress every day. He is a little guarded with me standing further back than his head and cheek, but accepting of touch as far as I can reach from there. Accepting of the stick and rope touching any part of his body so far! He wants to be a friend, but his initial 'alert' is still pretty high.

There is nothing quite like a first touch with a new wild one 😊

So grateful for all of the horses I get to have in my life everyday and all of the opportunities they share with me. There's always a new journey starting!

✅Question of the day... if this was your new mustang, what would you name him?

⭐️ BONUS - what is something I would name him... short, sweet, uncomplicated names... NOT human names. (Think Pixel, Newt, Lynx, Fiesta, etc...)

Please welcome the newest mustang to the herd 🥰⭐️

This boy arrived home yesterday in hopes to be my mustang for the Mustang Champions events next year. He hold himself with a lot of intention and confidence (aka I feel small standing near him 😆). He is a 5-year-old from Buffalo Hills Nevada. As soon as I saw his photo, I made my decision within 30 seconds.

Thank you Fall Creek Falls Equestrian for hanging on to him and Elisa Wallace Eventing and Epona Mustangs for bringing him home.

I'm excited to share his gentling journey!

Roo was a fun c**t start from last year! She was raised on the farm, started last fall… we even brought her to a show in the spring for some exposure and she was lovely! She’s been hauled around and trail ridden… tied to learn patience… obstacle practices… exposed to a lot of things. And she has turned out quite lovely 😊 I’m very proud of this warmblood and happy that her mom trusted her with me!

Two days ago, I hauled her to her new barn (a lot closer to her owner!) and had my last ride on her. She has been great to be there for everything and helping settle her in was the cherry on top. Her sad little whinny was cute, she kept her focus 😂 we unloaded her and put her right to work! I’m very proud of how Roo developed and I can’t wait to keep watching her and Laura’s journey together. Maybe I’ll go watch them show together one day!

Just wanted to share a little training success story 🥰
