I took a chance and checked this page to see if it was still up and running. I found it active. So, I'll post this here and will do so on the new page too.

This is Desoto. I fostered him over fifteen years ago when I was with a rescue that didn't pull pitties. I volunteered to foster De through the shelter in Acadia Parish and not use the rescue. (I was already having my 501c3 being worked.) I paid out of pocket for all of his vetting. He was roughly about six to eight months old. Just a pup that would have been euthanized if he'd gone back to the shelter all due to him being a pit bull mix.

When I looked at Desoto back then, I never saw the breed he was. I only saw a pup in need of help.

I took him home and cared for him with the intent to adopt him into a good family. The thing is, I couldn't part with him after he'd been with my family for months.

Two months became a year. We even gave him a birthday date.

A year turned into ten years with our handsome guy. Oh, he had his moments. Whatever trauma had happened to him as a young pup, we think came from a man who wore a hat. He was always terrified of men with hats. We had to have our guests remove their hats, and no one ever minded that. They knew it was not De's fault.

Ten years turned into a lifetime with my family. One that wasn't long enough for me.

Today, my big guy, who I love so darn much, is in home hospice care, ending his final days. I knew this was coming. Our dogs only live so long. Such a short time.

He has round-the-clock care by family and a vet. We have friends who stop by often to offer support. De is comfortable, please don't think he isn't. I've taken all measures to ensure this. I'm with him 24/7 and will not leave my home for anything. That's a solid promise I made to him.

In the coming years, I want to be an in-home hospice for aging dogs. Being that I have some medical experience caring for humans and animals, it's a fitting field for me.

Please keep my family, De, and me in your thoughts.

That's okay. I just wish those people would mind their own business from here on out! You are truly a piece of work!

I hope you never have a dog go missing and need to share it because FB is threatening to shut my account down so I wouldn't be able to help you find your dog!

I'm not sure what's going on. Days ago I posted that this page was to be shut down. Since then, I haven't gotten another notice. Thankfully!

It could have been a glitch in the system for all I know. Anywho, I will continue to post dogs in need!

Let's save some dogs! We will start sharing again tomorrow because shelters are overflowing with adoptable dogs.

Colorado friends! The HSPPR needs your help!
They are swamped with over 215 dogs! Adopters, fosters, and rescuers need asap.

Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region

Yesterday, we welcomed 54 new dogs to the shelter.

In the morning, we responded to a call for help and impounded 15 dogs. Shortly after, ALE was called to pick up another 15. On top of that, we had 24 dogs come through Admissions.

This is in addition to all the dogs we are currently caring for, totaling 215 dogs.

Our Colorado Springs shelter is already down 30+ kennels and adding 54 dogs to our shelter population reduces our available kennel space even more. We know we have said this a lot recently, but if you want to help us, please spread the word.

WE NEED DOG ADOPTIONS.

There's no better time than right now to make a pet's day. We need you, but more importantly, our pets need you!

I'm in tears! This isn't fair!
So I got a message from FB saying someone reported my page! I am beyond upset because now I will not be able to share shelter dogs! They are shutting this account down!

To the one who reported my account: Why didn't you just UNLIKE me?? Why did you go and ruin a chance of dogs being seen to be adopted or rescued? Why be such and @$$???

Update on Mama Harley!
She birthed three healthy puppies with the assistance of the vet and staff. Harley did not return to the shelter after she left the vet. She went to a caring foster that will watch over her and the pups.

Harley has a rescue that is willing to take her and the pups in, but Harley needs your help getting there. The trip to NJ is about 5 1/2 hours one way. Round trip is roughly 11 hours. They are predicting that the cost of fuel will be about $250. Her ride will leave with her on Friday morning to head up north. If you can donate anything to help with the fuel cost, please see the original post link below.

Harley also has a vet bill due to her having surgery. They are predicting the surgery will run about $2,000 to $2,500. If you can help donate towards Harley and her pup's vet bill, the link is in the original post too.

There was a post I saw about a woman who was upset about people not bringing their dogs indoors while the U.S. is fighting this cold weather.

She had a reply from a man or woman, I can't remember which because who that person was didn't mean anything to me. However, what that person said bothered me.

The person said, "So we have to bring them in huh? Do we also bring in the goats, sheep, cows, and horses too?"

Now, there were a lot of comments firing back at this person. I didn't say anything. They probably wouldn't have seen my comment anyway.

But if I had commented, I would have said, "Make sure these animals have adequate shelter, water, and feed so they can survive this weather. Bring them in doesn't always mean inside your home, but for you to care enough to make sure they won't suffer during this cold snap. Have a heart. And if you can't care for your animals properly, then you should not have one!"

If humans showed more kindness to animals and did right by them- animals wouldn't suffer, they wouldn't be abandoned so much, and there wouldn't be a need for kill shelters because fewer would be in shelters.

Emergency! ‼️‼️‼️Breaux Bridge
Dog with overturned shelter, no food, no water and neighbors have been calling the sheriff's office for days about it. He will freeze to death tonight.

I called St. Martin Parish Sheriff's office at 337-394-2824 and they said the officer would call me back. He called 1 minute later that he left there a couple minutes ago and the owner was putting the dog in the house. That has not happened.

If anyone else has any contacts and can get an actual welfare check done? He won't survive. Please tag anyone that can help.
