Last week, I euthanized Hircine for age-related, advanced kidney failure. He lived August 3, 2014 to August 16, 2024. One third of my life passed uncomfortably in the evening, with me holding his paw. Don't ever leave them alone when Death comes, you did everything together, don't leave them alone at the hardest time. Pain is part of life, those who do not face it are not themselves truly alive.

This is one of the best dogs I have ever owned, and despite being painfully stubborn, those of you who have seen how I produce some amazing animals, I couldn't do it without this dog here. He is to date, the only Dogo Argentino I have used in my Canis Panther mixes. He deepened the chest, and added height and muscle, and look at their heads. He is survived by some incredible Panther mixes, and on his purebred side, his granddaughter Dolce was a top 5 AKC Dogo Argentino last year and her son was #4. Dolce was #1 in the UKC and has a few other notable awards. Hircine himself was #6 best in breed in the UKC in 2015. His Mother was a certified hog dog directly from La Cocha itself(this doesn't mean much to me though as all Dogos do). I remember thinking she looked like a bear, and how cool she was and that I got her son was truly an honor. In some of the photos you will see Artemis, my first Dogo Argentino and my first dog as an adult. I still have their daughter Orthia, she's the one with the bouncy smile. The rest of the photos will be Hircine's Panther mixes. Thank you for those of you who have had faith in these dogs, and thank you Hircine.

This reminds me of the icicle video I posted a few months back.

Someone recently commented on the abundance of debris in my photos of the puppies. There are two reasons for me keeping so much of it around;
1) environmental enrichment for puppies and adult dogs. Variety of terrain makes puppies smarter, stronger, and braver.
2) we are currently experiencing an insect Apocalypse. Much like a whale carcass in the desert of the ocean floor, logs provide a home and food supply oasis in the middle of a suburb. Combined with a lack of pesticides, my territory creates a reservoir of arthropod populations that not only enriches my gardens, but creates a slow carbon release way of getting rid of wood while helping the bugs thrive. For example, these isopods are so good at breaking down wood they've even started on one of the fee pieces of processed wood I have, which you can see here.
