Board and Train: Safety Practices
Safety practices are some of the most important things we teach in the Board and Train Program. Here we see one of our graduates demonstrating impulse control by waiting to be released till our trainer, Malcolm, reaches the bottom and then staying attentive to him with the door open. Good job Gabe!
Jaxon
Jaxon is a rockstar! After completing our Board and Train program, he is continuing to excel at home. He's got very proud owners as well:
"Jaxon is doing great. We train with him everyday. I absolutely love the sit/stay and down/stay. I also had him down at the park and he didn’t pay any attention to the squirrels and is a joy to walk. I can’t thank you guys enough."
Two dogs, who are aggressive to other dogs, especially around food, learn to coexist...
We can learn so many things from dogs.
When learning to control an impulse,
Clements is the best.
After finding out their daughter is allergic to their puppy, Kiki, this family is looking to find a forever home for the dog that they feel in love with.
Please share their information, and help us find a home for this fantastic dog!
(From the owner)
Kiki:
A little bit about our puppy Kiki. She is an 8 month old healthy black lab mix (the vet suspects border collie from her black and white coloring). She has been spayed and is up to date on her shots. She has had all her heart worm and flea and tick treatments and has a clean bill of health. She is house trained and obedience trained. She knows commands like sit, stay, down, come, climb and wait. In the last couple of months, we have been training her to heel-walk, which she is able to do for almost 20 minutes during her walks. This is a higher order skill and tough for a puppy. She is an active puppy, so we typically walk her twice a day for around 20-30 minutes each. She also loose-leash walks the rest of the time on her walks.
She is very friendly and sociable towards people and dogs. After the initial excitement of meeting someone she calms down and is generally easy going. She benefits greatly from exercise in the form of walks or time at the dog park, as well as training to keep her mentally and physically engaged. We have been doing crate-training but only use the crate for sleeping at night. She likes to be in the company of people, so it may be hard for her to be adopted by single people who work long hours, since she will be alone for most of the day. She's too young for that to work out well. Ideally, a family with slightly older kids (like ours) would be the best fit.
Thanks again!

Skijoring with Tripp!
A client shared how his dog, Tripp, loves his new job... Now I want to try this too!
Dazy, is one of our rising agility stars in the level one class. Her owner has really gotten into the training as well, and set up some great equipment in their yard.
When Dazy first started the class, her confidence was low and she had a worried look to her almost all of the time. We can already see a huge difference in the way she carries herself, and she is a lot more playful too.
Looking great, Dazy!
