Jamie Zimmerman has been a wonderful supporter of my Retired Racehorse Project Thoroughbred Makeover Horse, Black Cadillac. Now she is in need of support. Her poor mare suffered a tragic pasture accident and Jamie is doing everything she can to keep Roxie on the road to recovery. She needs to catch a break.

On Monday, March 7th 2016 Jamie's world was turned upside down. Just like any other day, Jamie went out to the barn to ride but was greeted by the site of her horse, Roxie, in agony. She immediately called her vet and soon realized this was no minor injury. Once the vet arrived, they realized Rox...

Check out my latest blog about our journey to the RRP Thoroughbred Makeover!

I know it has been almost a week since I have written, so I thought that I would update you on Marcus. I put my first ride on this guy last Tuesday. It was very short (10 min) and as low pressure...

It is so fascinating to me how you can work with hundreds or even thousands of horses in your life and yet each time a fresh one arrives in the picture they have something new to teach you. Sure, my job is to teach them but in the end I always learn so much more. Today, I am grateful for new beginnings, a clean slate and a horse that truly brought joy to my day.

Love this visual!

THE proper way a horse collects and 'gets on the bit'.
No contraption, bit, or gimmick can teach this. It's about proper biomechanics and teaching the horse to balance themselves.

What a whirlwind this week has been. Since being accepted into the Retired Racehorse Project's Thoroughbred Makeover as a trainer less than a week ago, I have had the pleasure of meeting some really cool people as well as some really cool horses. As of today, I have already looked at 8 horses (not bad for a 5 day period!).

Thanks for being my travel companions, Peg and Cubby! It's nice to have an ear to talk to in the car after seeing these horses. And I want to thank the rest of my clients for their support in all of this. What a cheering squad we have!! I am a lucky girl!

I will soon be making a page and a blog specifically for the horse that I choose and the journey we share together on our way to Kentucky. I am having so much fun already and it is only the beginning!!

I am so super excited to announce that I have been accepted as a trainer for the Retired Racehorse Project Makeover!! What a wonderful opportunity for me to help promote the Thoroughbred breed. I have always loved working with OTTBs and now I get a chance to showcase one on the national scene! However, I need help!! Thoroughbred people, I am calling on you....

1) I am still looking for an eligible off the track Thoroughbred. Do you have a connection in the TB industry who might be able to help me out?
An eligible horse must be registered with the Jockey club and have a lip tattoo. It must have raced or have a published work after Oct 1, 2014. And it must not have started a second career before Jan 1, 2016. Preference goes to horses in the midwest. Must be sound enough to pass a PPE and have the potential for a dressage career.

2) I am forming a syndicate of owners... would you like to partner with me to help with this amazing cause? Co-owners will get plenty of recognition from me!!

3) I am looking for SPONSORS. Do you or someone you know have a business that you would like to promote? Advertising opportunities include my clothing/tack, on this page, my website, and at the show itself.
